Scrills, you said you "might" be allergic to sulfites. Can you get tested at an allergist before you have to go on the world's worst diet?
Also, is there some way you could overcome this allergy, if it turns out that you are allergic - having the allergist treat it some way? Like people who handle snakes become immune to snake venom by having tiny amounts injected over time.
I feel badly for you!

So on Friday morning, the 18th, I got a text from a number I didn’t recognize. The person who texted stated, “Hi, V-. Happy new year. Just wondering if you’ve been to the movies lately? Anthony.” It’s not the exact message, but pretty close. I happen to know several Anthonys. There is my nephew Anthony. Then I have two friends dating guys named Anthony. I knew it wasn’t my nephew as the caller ID on the phone would’ve recognized his name. So, I texted back to ask exactly who this Anthony was as I knew several of them. He replied that he was a member of one meetup I belong to as well as a member of the two meetup groups I run. Then I remembered who he was. With the groups I run, I often give out my number to the people who RSVP in case of anything. He attended a brunch I organized near Christmas, hence why he’d have my number. He’s pretty nondescript lookswise. He’s also kind of spacey. So I wasn’t exactly hoping that he’d ask me out or anything but that’s what I assumed from his text. So I told him that the last movie I’d seen was “Les Miz.” He then asked if I’d seen the movie “Beasts of the Southern Wild.” I replied no. And that was the end of the conversation until yesterday, when he texted that the movie was playing at a well known independent theater until next Thursday. That was the end of it. I haven't responded. I really don't want to give this guy the wrong idea as I don't think he's boyfriend material. It kind of figures, though. The guys I like most hardly ever like me and I'm never into the ones that like me.

Sounds like he wants to go on a date, without actually having to ask.
Dismissed!

I decided to browse the mall I drive past during my commute to wait out the traffic. Stepped into a glasses store that was obviously stupidly expensive. Tried on some frames. Fell in love with a pair. I was gazing at myself in the mirror like Narcissus.
$395 guys. That's not including the prices of lenses. The thought of spending that much money on glasses just burns me. Why do I do this to myself?

I know. It'll be awkward though as he RSVP'd for a meetup I'm hosting tomorrow night. We'll see if he actually shows up to it though.

Ughhh, there was another shooting on our malecón (not exactly sure how it translates into English... boardwalk? esplanade? water-front?).
100 bullets fired from automatic weapons. 3 motorcycles down. Status of motorcyclists unknown.
My boyfriend and I never, ever hang out on that part of the island because of this crap. Tonight, of all nights, he's down there playing reggae with a friend. I stayed home because I still feel like crap. Scary 20 minutes trying to get in touch with him.
ETA:
This is a photo someone took of the scene.

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.

Thanks, ladies. It was scary! He's still not home yet, but I can't wait to squeeze him and kiss him!
I'm so tired of constantly being afraid of the crime here. I want to go back to the States, but I'm nervous that the economy is worse there than it is here (can you believe that???).

My former roommate who insisted he hated cilantro just posted that guacamole is the greatest thing ever. I really want to post that it's all the cilantro that makes it so awesome.

So the plan is to make a round layer cake that when sliced will reveal the layers are vertical. Initially I had envisioned a pumpkin (well, kabocha) cake with cream cheese filling and a French brown butter and maple buttercream, but pumpkin seems so past the current time even though it's winter. So then I thought maybe a lemon or passionfruit curd-filled cake with white chocolate ganache and mascarpone frosting, but that screws with my other plans. Then I thought how I have all the ingredients for a coffee pastry cream-filled cake with ganache and maybe a brown sugar Italian buttercream, but damn it, I want to make coffee donuts! WHY IS MY LIFE SO HARD AND OPPRESSIVE?!
