You know, I was debating going home because I have some stuff to take care of here and I hate losing part of a day if I'm going to make the trip. Then I got this email:
Attachment 30270
Coincidence? I THINK NOT!

It's been an interesting morning. We are on hour number 4 of a ice storm.

When you make a comment about how you seem to always fall for a certain type of guy (in my case, Irish guys...) and a guy responds with, "Well, I AM over half Irish!" (before rambling about all his other ethnic makeups, "And I'm a quarter Dutch and an eighth Scottish...")
That was Younger Man Who Looks a lot like Ryan Gosling's way of awkwardly and endearingly flirting, right?
(I had no idea he was Irish. It randomly came-up because we were talking about red hair. It was an odd conversation.)

Scrolls I don't know if it was said or if you found it already, but avoid anything with mustard as well. Mustard seed naturally contains sulphites.
I say because you have to declare mustard, but not that the mustard contains sulphites. At least not here in Canada.

I heard we were supposed to get a dusting to an inch of snow overnight, so I set my alarm early so I would miss the main bulk of the traffic in case it did snow, but went to bed praying that it wouldn't. Woke up early, road outside the house was white. Crap.
Left the house at 6AM, and the road outside my house had a light layer of snow. The closer I got to the highway, the better the road quality got. Highway was completely clear, got to work in my normal 25 minutes. So, I got up an hour early for no good reason.
At least I get to leave at 3:00.
Also - the names that they keep giving these winter storms tickle me. We had Gandalf, then Iago, and now Khan. Heh.

Ugh. I have to work 4 until close tonight and I can just feel that the roads are gonna keep getting worse. So annoying. I wish I was working right now instead.

My friend royally annoyed me at my play last night.
She sat next to me and KNITTED the entire show. In this tiny blackbox theatre. With the actors a few feet away. KNITTED.
And she made critical comments (loud enough) the whole show, even when the lead (Younger Man Who Looks a lot like Ryan Gosling) came-out (and she knows he's my friend and knows I think he's adorable and great in the show), "He has a BIG NOSE."
I started just ignoring her and staring straight ahead and pretending I couldn't hear her.
I'm debating on whether I should say something or just avoid her. This is the same friend I talked about in the job hunt thread who is unemployed as I am and depressed. I'm pretty hurt/annoyed at her.

Over 30 (thankfully minor) wrecks in 6 hours, and multiple calls on almost all of them. Many were still calling even though troopers and rescue were on scene :-/
I will be hearing ringing phones in my sleep tonight.

I just talked my little brother into clearing some of the snow off of my car. Muahahaha!
In my defense, short people are not meant to clear the snow off of trucks!

goddamn AT-f'n-T (that's their official name)
Ok, we moved at the very beginning of november. We called to transfer our phone/internet, and pay our final bill for the old address all in one go. They opened us a new account, and kept the old one on. It took 3 calls to get them to turn off the old line. Then they tried to bill us for it even though their own computers stated it was scheduled to be turned off before the new billing period and yet somehow it was still on . . .
We finally got that straightened out, they refunded our deposit and final bill. We just got the check in the mail the other day. But somehow that refund got associated with our new account, and canceled out the payment that we made earlier this month. So we got shut off this morning.
After being on hold for an hour, then arguing with them for another hour. They are refunding the payment we just made, so that we can resubmit the payment, again because the computer won't let him do any other way, and hopefully someone will enter everything in correctly this time so we don't have to go through this again next month. He is so sorry for the inconvenience, he is turning on the internet as we speak and it should be working momentarily which apparently translates into 2 hours.
They are the only providers for landline/internet in my area . . .

Need to briefly rant. I work in a hospital, in a department of about 35 women. Right across from us is another department of mostly women. Down the hall, you guessed it, more women. So we have 2 women's restrooms in our hallway. Both are single occupancy, and only one is employee-only, the other is a public ladies room. Needless to say, it's not unusual to see a line of 2 or 3 women waiting. So naturally engineering decides that it it imperative to shut down the employee-only restroom so that they can RE-FINISH THE LINOLEUM. To put things into perspective, they can't even regulate the temperature in my department. One day I'm in my coat and gloves, next day it's a tank top. Meanwhile well over 50 women (half of them trying to stick to New Years diet resolutions and drinking lots and lots of water) are fighting over one restroom that also has to be shared with the public. Happy Friday to me.
