As a utility worker I didn't get home until midnight last night. I was dropped off too, because there's now way I could clear a spot for my car.

Tonight I got dropped off at 10p fully expecting a long night of shoveling. But I didn't have to, Awesome Neighbor Pat did it for me!! GAH! I totally owe him! Best neighbor ever.

It may have crossed my mind a bit to get the mens at work to do it for me...you know, on account of the eye.

Oh, it is broken. Slipped on ice, my leg bent underneath me and I landed on the foot at a horrible angle under all of my body weight.

High ankle sprain on one side, regular sprain on the other, and all the stress was released by cracking the base of my fibula. It's ugly. I have seen the xray and the crack is obvious.

On a positive note, the marathon I was going to run is in New Orleans, and considering I already have plane tickets, I'm still going to go and eat a bunch of good food

The work men definitely should have shoveled, but 3 cheers for Awesome Neighbor Pat!

SCG, I tried the white mocha and I agree with you that it's good, but too sweet. Can't you get drinks with less syrup though? I hear people ordering X amount of pumps, but I'm like how do they know how many are used to start with? What if they're just ordering the drink how it's already made?? HOW DO THESE PEOPLE KNOW THESE THINGS!?!?

So far I like it better than the caramel macchiato and the cinnamon dolce though. Maybe I'll try a plain ole' vanilla latte next.

Haha! Yes, you can! I haven't had a chance to try it yet... But I imagine it might be better with less syrup. Sometimes people ask for extra pumps of white mocha and I'm like "Oh sure, would you like diabetes with that, too?"

As for syrup pumps:
Tall - 3 pumps
Grande - 4
Venti - 5
Iced Venti - 6

And yes, sometimes people ask for a "tall, 3 pump ____ with 2% milk" and I'm always tempted to be like "oh, so you want exactly what's on the menu?"

Ah-HA!!! So people DO do that!! I knew it, I just knew it.

So next time I'll order a tall 2 pump white chocolate mocha half caff. I better write this down and rehearse because there is no way in hell I'll remember that. And maybe I should word it different because just throwing that "2 pump" out there in front sounds so...nasty. Tall white chocolate mocha half caff with 2 pumps? Still sounds dirty.

Thank you, my Sbux barista insider.

Did they stop using whole milk? And when did they add the extra pump to iced venti (or have I just forgotten since working there?)?

I know my fave drink used to be a venti 2 pump hazelnut, 3 pump raspberry, latte.

I usually had it with soy but I imagine it would still be good with regular milk.

Assuming you can still get those syrups, I know they changed a few things since I worked there.

Also, chai tea lattes taste waaaay better with soy milk. The nuttiness just adds something.

If you want to make it easiest on your barista, you can say it in the order it's written on the cup... So, a tall half-caf 2 pump white mocha.

Still sounds a bit odd, though!

when are people going to understand that stories in which a traditionally feminine girl teaches a much cruder, rougher, masculine girl to enjoy wearing make up, dresses, and performing femininity is the EXACT OPPOSITE of feminist and progressive

when are people going to realize behaving “feminine” and wearing makeup are not actually anti feminist
Quote:
women have been coerced since time immemorial to alter themselves in a hollow attempt to attain superhuman physical beauty

some women have turned this into an art form, but for the majority, make up is a tool to protect themselves from ridicule because otherwise they will be considered ugly

women are well aware they can wear make up and kick ass. feminism has made great accommodations to help women understand that they may conform to certain gender roles while still being feminists, and that is important, but it is not something we still need to learn and which needs to be enforced at every turn

what i want to know is when people are going to realize being feminine and wearing make up may not be anti feminist but they are not subversive actions unless make up is worn in a way that is intentionally considered ugly by society’s beauty standards, and i’d also love to know when we can see someone defending masculine, undecorated, rugged women the way they do women who conform to gender roles
Tell it!!!

At least at my store, 2% is standard for all hot and iced drinks. We still use whole milk for frappuccinos.

We've still got those syrups! It's an odd combination, but I totally want to try it now! I like our raspberry syrup... It's not too sweet or anything, which is kind of a nice change. It's so yummy with the white mocha, too!

I've never had a soy chai, but it definitely smells better with soy milk! I get a little grossed out when I have to make regular chai lattes! They just smell so... Off.

Oh my goodness, you're so right! I've had it both ways and it is better like that, I just never realized until you said it. I try to avoid soy now though because of some medication I take or I'd probably get it more often. They need almond milk!

Ok, this is what I'm writing down. Anything to make it easier on the barista at our Target because they're always swamped and seem a bit frazzled, especially the newest guy working there.

And I seriously want raspberry in my white mocha now. How do you even add that in the order sequence without getting tongue tied? Tall half-caff 2 pump white mocha with 1 pump raspberry? Oh goodness, never mind because there is no telling what I'd get in my cup.

I'm totally not even drinking coffee any more at that point. HAHA!!

And don't even get me started on the whole extra hot thing, I had no idea you could order coffee extra hot.

I am so glad I don't drink coffee and even more glad that I don't have to go to coffee shops and use that ridiculous coffee language. I've been a few times and refuse to order like that. If I'm spending a stupid amount of money for a cup of coffee I shouldn't have to learn a second language to order it.

cmb, so sorry about your ankle. I live with two runners, if this had happened to them, there would be no living with them, and I'd certainly be sending them to NO, ASAP!

Jeep, no kidding! 7-11 is much cheaper, and right on my way to work, and yet, I do go to Starbucks, or as spring says, sbux sometimes...

SCG and Spring, you have me so confused, but it all sounds good. I'm going to try to remember the soy for chai thing, though. I got three gift cards from students, and believe it or not, I always forget to use them! Maybe I'll remember Monday after school. I'll need a treat by them, right?
