Uh oh... I woke up with a slightly sore throat, and it's so not going away!

I swear, if I'm getting sick again...

I'll PM you, too, w_s!

I don't think I've ordered half-caff at Starbucks before. I ordered a latte at our local place on the way home and there was utter confusion. I got questions. As in, so when you say half-caff do you want half decaf coffee or espresso? WTF? Half-caff to me is half the shots are decaf and half are regular caff. There was no coffee in that order. Where do they come up with this stuff? I expect too much.

In other news, I'm a heathen and I'm posting from church right now. But only because there is a creepy guy here who always touches my hair, and I'm panicking about how I'm going to dodge his attentions! I'm thinking army crawling might be called for...

Tomorrow will be the day when Polly either loses her leg or keeps it. There's nothing I can do in the interim besides loading her with vet-prescribed antibiotics and feeding her things she loves.

I know she'll be fine as a three-legged dog, but I'll be sad for her. Will she still be able to jump on the bed for her morning cuddle? Will she still do her pre-walkies happy dance?

Love is not very easy. I'm very tired.

Sitting with my kiddos. Danae is drawing pictures of ponies and Davin keeps trying to grab my hands while I type. For some reason, Joel Osteen is on (because I can't find the remote and am too lazy to find it). He has a smarmy face.

Poor Polly

I love my puppy. He is totally freaked out by my splint and crutches. He runs out of the room like a bat out of hell when I start hobbling around. And he keeps licking my toes.

Perfect article is perfect:

Alt Text: Taking Another Look at the Myth of the 'Nice Guy' | Underwire | Wired.com

Quote:
If someone — we’ll say a woman, but actually it’s pretty much anyone who doesn’t have a tin ear for language — has a great date with someone new, this is how she describes the person:
“Wow, he’s amazing. He’s really funny, and there’s also this chemistry, you know? Like, he was really LOOKING at me. Plus he works as a caterer so he has a lot of interesting stories. And he was so thoughtful! When he asked the waiter for more ranch dressing, he didn’t let him go until he checked to see if I wanted anything as well. I’m really looking forward to seeing him again.”
If a woman has a boring date with a new guy, this is what she says:
“He seemed nice.”
Okay? Follow? If you are describing yourself as “nice” you are like one of those tiny motels where the sign out front just says “Air Conditioning — Color TV.” You are saying “I have nothing to recommend me other than a bare minimum level of acceptability.”
Quote:
In short, to anyone with dating experience, “nice guy” sounds like “essentially lackluster, if largely unobjectionable male person.” And this is what you’re presenting as your best trait. This is what you aspire to.
Now, I hear some of you complaining “women always say they want a nice guy.” I know lots of women — I’m even related to a few — and I can’t say I’ve ever heard any of them say that. I can’t prove it, but this sounds like one of those things stand-up comedians say about women and everyone else just repeats. I’ve also never known a woman who cries when she breaks a nail — although I’ve known a few who swear like a 15-year-old sailor in jail — and I’ve never had a woman ask me if her outfit made her look fat unless she actually wanted and subsequently appreciated my opinion. So either I’ve stumbled upon a secret trove of women who aren’t passive-aggressive sob machines, or you need to stop mistaking Dane Cook routines for peer-reviewed sociological studies.
At any rate, if a woman does say “I just wish I could find a nice guy,” I would suggest this is the equivalent of “I’m so hungry I could eat a horse.” Which is to say, she’s not hoping you’ll say, “You’re in luck, I have a dead horse in my backyard!”

Thanks, curlies. It means a lot to me that you're thinking of us.

Also, somehow it's weirdly cheering to see a new addition to Jeepy's creepy knife collection.

As soon as you're thawed out you should move to Guilford. It's just that easy, right??

They were always out plowing before the snow even stopped and we never had to wait to get out.

Deenie, I'm so sorry about Polly. I hope things improve and she's able to keep her leg, but if not I know she'll be a trooper adapting to 3 legs. Our pups are so much more resilient than we can ever imagine.

I finally decided to watch Alias due to the Nikita comparisons. I would often catch a random episode here and there when it aired and understood absolutely nothing.
It sure seems low-tech compared to Nikita.
And I still say Maggie Q is a more believable and kickass spy. I don't know, something about Jennifer Garner when she moves and fights just strikes me as unnatural. As if she's naturally a sort of awkward, clumsy human being, and I can't quite get a sense that she's in charge and knows how to handle herself. She looks in over her head too much. I dunno, it's hard to explain why I just don't feel any confidence in her being incredibly competent at her job.
