I see ones like that Spring, but the ones I most commonly see in NC are
Say It. I Dare You.-imageuploadedbycurltalk1362026493.862616.jpg
Say It. I Dare You.-imageuploadedbycurltalk1362026507.660835.jpg
Say It. I Dare You.-imageuploadedbycurltalk1362026561.335859.jpg

I can deal with those, but I hate seeing water bugs

Evil, jumping, effers!

Skinks used come in a business I formerly worked at. People would scream, and run. I couldn't help but laugh. They are completely harmless, and beautiful

Ugh. We're thinking of moving to NC at some point so at least I know what crawlies to expect.

Two pair of jeans and one pair of sandals (flip flops? what's the difference?) and I had to check out and just close the page.

I sure hope these are the same jeans I just spent $30 more on so I can return those and use girl math and say I SAVED $30!!!! (not that I spent $73).

i'm calling bull on this too.

and i'm going to say this...

you are WAY too young to know what you're talking about when you ignore the work of decades of feminist women and men - OF EVERY COLOUR - who came before, while you spout off reams of text from people and places you don't even provide citations for.

there is no "truth" in slamming people; liberal, conservative, somewhere in between, black, white, yellow, red, female OR MALE.

the only "truth" exists in ensuring that people have clean water, enough food to survive, a roof over their heads and education.
LOL, you actually used my age to invalidate what I said. Are you serious? You really resorted to that? And tried to deny the racism and exclusion of women of color perpetrated by liberal feminism in particular? Did you type out "uneducated" while you were at it but change your mind?
And then you throw a nice platitude that is neither here nor there about what matters? Because of course if anyone tries to argue that, they're wrong. And because those small, trivial things don't influence all those larger things that only you think about.
What I think about liberal feminism and how misguided, white-centric, and problematic it is isn't going to change. So, you and everyone else is free to put me on ignore if you don't want to read about it.

Man, I had a flashback to when I was in high school and my neighbor insisted that "wanting to be train" was correct, and when I tried explaining that no, it really wasn't, she got all pissy about how I was nothing but an arrogant high schooler and she a grown adult with two Master's degrees. Maybe, but she was still wrong. Oop.

Maybe I'm tired but what was she intending to say?

I've said "wanting to be train" out loud like five times and I can't figure out what it's supposed to be

Wanting to be trained. She tried to tell me it was "train" because it was present tense, not past, which is what "wanting to be trained" would be. Yeah, mull that one over.

It was actually looking to be trained, not wanting. Looking to be train.

I have to say "+ everything" to this (minus learning it in the 70's) and add abonus points about NOT FORCING any view of feminism on women.

actually, no... a bunch of post-liberal-feminist women in Toronto did in reaction to a very specific incident involving a representative of the police force in that city.

"liberal feminism believes the concept of making a choice is so subversive"

oh PUH-LEEZE...

TRUE liberal feminism, as i learned it in the 1970s, is about respecting the choices women make for themselves, no matter what that choice is. it is NOT about forcing any view of "feminism" on women!

there are still WAY more important things to worry about than whether or not my wearing lipstick and mascara means i'm buying into some patriarchy - wage parity, sexual freedom (and that includes wanting to reclaim the term "slut" or rejecting it as you see fit), and education for women and girls around the world - just for starters!

But this whole concept of "respecting the choices women make for themselves" assumes that women can make, and are making, free choices on the major issues that affect them. This is a LUXURY that white, middle-class, western women have and others don't. You guys can agonize about whether to have kids, whether to get married, whether to take his name, whether to be a stay-at-home parent, whether to wear a white wedding dress, what to wear to work and whether it's "slutty", whether to wear makeup etc. All the other women in the world have it forced on them what to wear, who and when to marry, to have kid after kid.... or they nominally make those choices but are burdened with a disproportionate share of the household responsibilities, or they technically have those choices but in reality they are just illusions. And even white middle class women are subject to domestic and sexual violence that they don't choose, which disproportionately affects disenfranchised communities of women.

Wage parity and education play into all of that because even here in the west, lower wages for women dictate womens' life and family choices and womens' lack of education also affect those things. So they are not separate issues.

The "slut walk" concept is actually "forcing" things on women because it's taking certain dress/behaviours and labelling it as "slutty" and then calling this clever/ironic/subversive or what have you. But it's not actually calling into question the fact that womens' flesh and how it is displayed is policed far more than necessary and that this is a pathology in our society. It's saying "I have the right to be slutty if I want" - so now anyone who wears a skirt above the knees or tight pants can been labelled as "doing a slut walk" and "being slutty." What if I just happen to like that length of skirt and don't think other peoples' view of my legs is of any serious concern? How dare they try to call me a "slut" or imply that there is anything sexual about my "choice?" As a Black, Latina woman, there are some who think I am a "slut" just for existing - why would I want to embrace that term any more than I'd call myself a n------r?

Liberal feminism is like "post-racial thinking" or "colour blindness" - you can only get there if you ignore a lot of peoples' realities and focus only on the privileged few.

I can only assume that Target in the US is vastly different to Target here. I rarely go these days and when I do I never seem to buy anything.

Centipedes are the work of the devil, my SO got rid of one down the toilet the other night. I, thankfully, haven't seen one in a long time. There is however a veritable creepy crawly zoo happening in my vacuum cleaner.

That "truth" focusses only on social and economic rights - which certainly are important - but ignores either civil political rights, to have things like free speech and freedom from state harassment, or collective rights - the rights of communities to define themselves, to organize themselves politically, etc.
