I just want it to be 50 degrees already. I'm so over these 40-degree highs and 30-degree lows and windchill that makes it feel colder.

I keep thinking that if I move back to the DR I'll have to have two suitcases of Chinese ingredients because how will I survive without a steady dose of regional Chinese food?!!!
Then I think that I could open a Chinese food place, 'cept it would fail because Dominicans don't want authentic Chinese.

Ha, those are technically pretty expensive for tacos since they're chef-fy fusion tacos. Just classic Mexican tacos
are $2-$2.50, and that's in NY.
We're not getting any classic tacos here for that price. It's about double where I go. Still not expensive in the grand scheme of things, but still.
Wow, that's surprising. Although one thing about NY is we do have a lot of cheap eats in spite of how expensive it is to live there.

I was going back and forth about Hong Kong, because while the trip is doable, it's hotel stays that are killer. I know people in Shanghai, but while I'd love to visit Shanghai, I'm really set on Hong Kong for now. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone in Hong Kong. Sigh. But I'm going, I don't care! I'm going to pick up Alex Goh's books, and Hong Kong Breads, and any other interesting books that I can find, and a container of Ovalett, and I'm going to eat so much! OMG barbecue goose from Yat Lok, and char siu, and wonton noodle soups, and dim sum! *Homer Simpson drool* I wouldn't mind running into a Godfrey Gao-look-alike either, but the food will do.

NYC does seem to have a lot of cheap eats opportunities.

It was fun to watch the taco truck story unfold, so I want to support the guy now that he's actually open. It's not too often that someone gets to fulfill his (or her) dream.

i was going to visit my sister and adopted mom back east this summer but my sister will come to Cali because my baby sis is having her first baby. i had it all planned out too. first to Jeepy and check to see if its really her feet then south to see you and make a mess in isle 9 and then swing east to Philly to swim with RCW then up to Conn to visit my godmother and finally bring some banh mi to Saria in NY and teach her to pronounce it correctly. i made a similar back in summer of 2008 with my 3 sisters and dad. pre-NC days
