You are getting it, too!! Are you out buying supplies?

Looks like you are on track for more than we are. (Until it changes...again)

NYC does seem to have a lot of cheap eats opportunities.

It was fun to watch the taco truck story unfold, so I want to support the guy now that he's actually open. It's not too often that someone gets to fulfill his (or her) dream.

Crud! And yes, I am out doing a Trader Joe's / Target / Martins run before folks get any more goofy about this alleged storm than they are already.

I overheard a Target employee ask a couple he was helping where they had moved here from. They said they were from Chicago. Target employee and I caught each other's eye and grinned. He told them "Wait'll Wednesday! People around here get a little panicky when snow is in the forecast....well, actually *more* than panicky. If you want a good laugh, just go to the grocery store tomorrow night!". lol

I need to check out that taco truck, RCC! I'm glad to hear that the food truck business is picking up... I hate it how difficult it is for food trucks to make it around here! I don't know why the city has to make it so difficult for them.

*Grandma Update*Long*

Well, I just got off the phone with the new director of the Senior Center. She had held some other position when the problem was handled by the old director, so she was current with all the goings-on over the years.

My grandmother is very head-strong, likes to be in charge, is very critical (always with the intention of being helpful), yet is a very sensitive creature. She is an incredible leader, great at teaching, very organized, efficient and thrifty.

She moved to this town about 5 years ago, and has always felt that she never quite fit in with this group of women. At her old Senior Center, she was the instructor of several groups and held committee positions. Overall, she was in leadership roles and very well-regarded by members and staff alike.

She has tried to assimilate into leadership positions at this new Senior Center, but it simply does not operate quite the same as the old one. As a result, she has had numerous clashes with staff and members and has taken a few self-appointed sabbaticals for months at a time.

The new director said that what prompted them to ask her to take a break (only from the canasta games - she was not banned) was when several of the women complained that her aggressive instruction and constant critiquing took all the fun out of this activity, and that they wouldn't return. A month passed, and sure enough, none of those women returned. They effectively lost members because they found my Grandma's personality too difficult to deal with

The director doesn't think mediating between the women is a good idea, because that can lead to ganging-up. Basically, all they want from grandma is for her to relax and stop instructing/critiquing/being so competitive. If she can do that, then she's welcome to come back to the game.

There is really no solution to this story. Grandma is very head-strong and does not see how instructing/critiquing/being competitive can put others off. She thinks she is being helpful.

My heart is broken for her. She has such a good heart, and does so much for others. She even brought a snack to share with the other women every week. I wish I could just be there to hug her and support her. I wish this situation was more black & white with less gray area. It's hard.
- Seek first to understand, then to be understood.
- Character is how you treat those who can do nothing for you.
I am so glad you were able to talk to someone. Aww. That is difficult, rb. I am sorry. I wish I could give your grandma a hug.

I am just counting the days until summer.
My ankle should be healed, the snow and ice will be gone, and it won't be cold anymore.

Winter is really wearing on me this year.
