The building of Atomic Bombs, also known as the Manhattan Project, took place not too far from my area in 1942. Oak Ridge TN. People found eviction notices on their door asking them to be out of their town in 2-6 weeks, many were forced out without compensation, the area was acquired, and the factory was built. My Grandmother worked there, like many other women. Waste was dumped into creeks, and it was rumored that barrels of waste were hauled into my state & county, and other counties in the area, and buried. People would see the loaded trucks come in, and they would leave empty. I do not doubt it, and I have plenty of strange reasons not to.

Like I know we don't hear about it much, but I wonder how the radiation levels are at the plant in Japan that was destroyed with the tsunami.

I know they had people volunteer to clean up knowing that they'd probably die doing it. And the idea of that being so close to residents is super terrifying.

Idk if it weren't dangerous, I'd love to go to the Chernobyl site.

One photographer has done a large amount of work at Chernobyl. He has documented with still over the years. His work is depressing and heart breaking, but very informative.
When I hear terms like "hipster" I think, who told cliques they could leave high school??

So, we got an Easter card in the mail today that is supposedly from our grandaughter, Lucy. The evidence says otherwise.

There's a documentary called The Battle of Chernobyl that's really good, and free to watch online. It's about the clean up, those guys were heroes that deserve a lot more recognition.

I had to try out the chocolate mint Bailey's I made last night to take to Passover dinner at my sister's tomorrow night. It is now hidden in the back of the fridge so I don't drink it all beforehand. Delish.

Bashing a woman for 'not having a job' because she decides to be a stay at home mom/homemaker is no different than bashing a mom for having a job outside work instead of 'staying home to raise her children'.

Why are people so invested in how other people live their lives.

Even if a person didn't work and sat on their butt watching soap operas all day - why is it any business of yours (gy)? Other than the welfare argument - how does this effect you (gy) in any way?

A coworker I barely know just coerced me into giving her a hug.

I feel used. I don't DO hugs.

Someone is watching the History Channel in the break room and it's something or other related to ancient religions. It would seem that I learned something in at least one of my classes last semester, because I totally remember all of this stuff. Who knew that college actually taught things?!

I feel like I'm going to vom. I just had to fill out all of this detailed paperwork about my accident. I don't REMEMBER half of these details, because it happened almost four months ago! How can they expect me to remember? :/

I'm doing my best, but seriously... I feel like I'm being dishonest in my answers, because some of these are straight up approximations, and based entirely on trying to re-construct the situation in my head. But seriously, I've gone over it in my head so many times that I don't even know what's real anymore. Ughhh.

Also, I was so frazzled after it happened that I feel like I wouldn't remember 90% of this stuff even if someone had asked me immediately afterwards.
