i have completely had it with the problem co-worker.

her mother died unexpectedly last Saturday. she had been ill for a while and was in hospital for refusing to take her meds at her nursing home. a home she had refused to go to for years after suffering a stroke and being forced into a wheelchair.

i want to feel bad for co-worker, but she whined, moaned and complained about her mom so much; in some ways i think she is not going to have any life now that she does not have to dance attendance on her mother.

yesterday, i found out that she came into the office on Monday - on the Canada Day holiday. it seemed really strange to me, then something clicked in my head and i suggested to our financial admin that she check the phone records. she looked at the outgoing phone log on the phone on her desk, but it only records calls made on the main incoming line. problem co-worker uses the second line on that phone as her "desk number". check the computer records and there were a bunch of calls to Europe.

she also failed to leave an "out of office" message on her email, so people have been sending her things that are due today and should be done by me and one one of the managers...

*sigh*

i just don't get it...

Smh. One included using a heavily monitored computer network, for work resources only, to send "private" and personal msgs married extended co worker. The other party was provided a complete transcript of the msgs, chewed out, suspended and almost fired. Rather than really addressing my former co worker, at all, we were all sent a generic email reminder of how to properly use the system by my office supervisor. Yeah, that was the first and only time it has happened since I have been here. People generally take the 900, incredibly stern, training reminders to heart.

TRBL also gave good advice when it comes to keeping documentation. That can help in more ways than one. I know it sucks to continuously worry about someone getting your entire department in trouble, because they are a complete bleeping idiot who never has and never will take the responsibility seriously. Covering butt is always the best approach.

I hope she she either shapes up or ships out, quickly.

I walk in here and all hell breaks loose. Now it's starting to feel like the 4th. *We're on party delay thanks to rain and flooding. Some are still stuck at home, due to high water, so it's been a little too calm. Waiting for the other shoe to drop, calm.

I would like to enjoy by stroll outside on break, but I am being dive bombed by June Bugs. Don't they know what month it is

Ah ah ah! You're gonna be in trouble.

I do love it a particular officer is working and someone rips a phone out of the wall, or removes the batteries, etc. so another in need can not call for help. It makes him as mad as it makes me. I already know they're going to jail. Do not obstruct.

Other than that... Pfffftttttttt!! Thanks to days of heavy rain, trees are uprooting, and they're angry.

Not sure if this belongs on this thread but it's worth watching. I wish more men would have similar epiphanies, or I wish we lived in a society that didn't need those epiphanies.

unfortunately, this is the first thing she's done that would be "actionable". and i think the union would be firmly on her side if anyone did speak to her about this.

does anyone have any tips for what to do when you need to bake something and it's ridiculously steamy outside?

Oh wow. I just went from just being vaguely aware that Dustin Hoffman exists to absolutely loving him and wanting to give him the highest of fives. The way that realization clearly still affects him...that was beautiful.

I love Dustin Hoffman, loved Tootsie, and adore him in I Heart Huckabee's. Dustin and Lily Tomlin are a perfect on screen couple. Not to mention the best Existential Detectives in the world. How do you live without those?

Sorry, Rou. Unions can be both a good and bad thing. My dad was a union president at his job for many years. The way they treated employees was terrible, and they were incredibly lucky to have a union to right the wrongs, but it's useless when they hinder in actual problems.

Hang in there, and do document.

Why are people so dumb? I know that is a pointless question but... GAH! I am watching the news and they are showing people getting into the rivers on tubes/boats/rafts with officers and other emergency service department members begging them not to. They are nicely explaining that the water is incredibly high and dangerous, it is hard for someone with experience to maneuver, and asking them to please not put themselves or others in danger. The dumba$$es ignore them and do it anyway. A few minutes later, rescue members are having to endanger their lives to save them. I know they couldn't and never would, but it's so frustrating that you want to say... SOL! You're up isht creek with no paddle now.

**Double nightmare with it being the weekend after the 4th. We are all covered up with tourists who came here to camp, hike, and raft. Unfortunately during heavy flooding. And they all clearly look to be in their 20's and early 30's. They should know better.

A couple of people died in a nearby county today, attempting to save others. If you don't care about your life or anyone else's...

I've had a recent realization that lately, most of my conversations with my friends and family have revolved around telling them about the goings-on in other people's lives (i.e. coworkers baby, friend's pregnancy, another friend being angry, stuff like that) and wonder:

1. what am I avoiding that I'm choosing to fill the time with discussions of other people (am I doing this so I don't have to discuss myself?)

2. is my life really that dull that the only thing I have to talk about is other people?

3. is this "normal"? (catching people up on things)

my gut tells me this is #1, which means I have a lot more thinking to do

PerriP, I can totally relate. It may be all three.

For me its all three, but mostly 1. I really hate talking about myself. And I'm not sure why.

Do you consider yourself an introvert, PerriP? Could it be that you prefer to keep your private thoughts to yourself? Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Gotcha. Mr B & I are both introverts and are fairly hermit-like.

We either spend our time together or with other family members. I only feel the way you describe when I'm around the extroverts in the family. The moment I'm back here in our little cave, I'm quite content.

Why do you think you've become more aware of this? Do you want to share more of what's going on with you, or do you think you "should"?

"Normal" is whatever you want it to be.

This could be a big part of it.

Thanks for helping me dig.

I only like talking about my life with close friends. Definitely not with my family. I chose my friends; my family was just a random turn of the wheel of genetics. They're not criminals or unusually bad people; they're just not my kind. It happens.

So, it's over with my old guy friend repairman. Today makes visit number three he has either cancelled or simply not appeared for. I love him, but I need reliability. It's not even that I arranged my day around him and even removed the existing blinds in advance, but that I locked up the dogs for an hour while I waited for him to arrive. Now that ticks me off. They just looked at me, baffled and slightly wounded. "But, Mom........."

I'm hiring the other guy. Enough is enough.
