What is it... Estimated 41% of the US population is on assistance. Some of those are honest as the day is long, and you can count on the fact that some of them are not. I'd never bash the ones that are. I still knew people with no running water or electricity that took baths in creeks when I was a kid. They had nothing. Many, and lord knows they needed help.

ETA: ^ My bestie couldn't make it without assistance. Especially since they removed one of the biggest tourist draws between 3 counties which took away a great deal from local businesses. (Idk how servers make it on $2.30 an hour anyway, especially when your tips have been cut in half and you might only make $30 working a double when you used to make $200). He only gets a little assistance, from 2 programs, but with no insurance, he'd never have treatments for his migraines. We're talking $100 for 20 pills. In other words, don't take me personally or as if I'm insulting anyone you know. I beotch about the same things to him, and he knows what I mean. I'm talking about what I know and the ones who were documented to blow $69 million in CA, in 2 or 3 years time, on cruises, vacations, $11 million of that in casino's, ones who were charged for fraud after buying 300,000 home in one state while on assistance in another, and making huge $ on under the table jobs and saying they needed their nail apts and maids, on and on.

Other than that... Help! I'm so ready to run from work.

Well, that was a mistake.

It's so insanely family-oriented here. I love my town, but......blech sometimes. Also, I only made it to 55 mph pitching speed. Must my pitching arm age, too?

Et tu, fastball?

Aw, man! I wonder who took all the drawings and letters off our cork board. A second grade class drew pictures of 911 dispatchers for us, that included facts about our job. They were so cute. We also had some adorable hand written apology letters from little ones who had prank called the office. They included some pretty funny comments from the parents. "My child would like to tell you how sorry he is, and how stupid he was..." Haha. Get em!

*That's something I have not seen in years I have been here, and something others had not seen in many years. It was nice, and also cute looking at the kids writing. "I aM SorrY" I love it when some of their letters are way above the others.

I need to take my breaks at the front of the building more often. I always stay at the back or on the sides. The flowers are absolutely beautiful. 6 different types of lilies, black eyed susan's, large butterfly bushes, gerbers, juniper as ground cover, old timey rose bushes... It's nice

I got a temporary tattoo at a party for my local library last night. I'm thinking of going to a neighboring county and starting a rumble with staff members of a competing system.

That'll learn 'em.

At work and my sinuses have been playing up all night. There has barely been a minute when either my right eye or nose has not been running. I daren't go in the bathroom and see what state my make-up is in. Can't wait to get home and smother my poor nose in Ungvita. Blergh.

People who don't know the correct meaning of the words alternate and alternative should not be writing signs and notices.

I find the heat and haziness gruesome.

Deer flies bite my dogs.

Mia, who is short and wide, runs out of steam after about five minutes. Then she gives me a pleading look, as if to say, "OMG, Mom — make it stop!" When we come in, she falls to the floor like a lump of chubby.

Hot weather lovers baffle me.

I understand where you are coming from.. our black girl can handle all of about 5 minutes in the summer sun before she becomes Panterella the Panting Pantress.

But on the other had I would soooo much rather it be hot than cold. Everyone says you can just put on more layers when it's cold, but I don't like clothes that much. I mean I LIKE clothes, but I have trouble with layers.. layers and sleeves. I'm in short sleeves/sleeveless most of the winter.

And little miss lump of chubby (I love that) is statuesque!

I know, I know — winter sucks, too.

I really only like the weather in Northern California, but then there isn't enough autumn or spring.

Sigh.

If you enjoy your birthday even a fraction of this kid, you will be having a great day!

Unlike this kid, just remember to breath!

it's just that when it gets to be THIS hot, you want to peel your skin off and you can't do that!!!!

eta. the air conditioning system is off at the courthouse - they were unable to restart it this morning after having it off all weekend. while i do like the fact that i'm not wearing a sweater and still freezing to death, all the fans are off, too, so there is no air circulation at all!

when i get home, this is me:

sounds awful, I'm sorry.
I'm in Texas and sometimes our AC goes off - my boss walks around saying, "it's really not that hot" over and over as if to convince us it is not that hot. My rule of thumb is "when my butt starts sweating, I'm going home"

Fifi, I do think there is corruption and people taking advantage of the system. I just think these things get taken out of context and the bigger issue isn't taken into consideration
