A pretty good piece on introverts. I'm glad more and more if these types of articles are surfacing. Perhaps one day introvert won't be synonymous with recluse/hermit/social misfit, etc.

6 Things You Thought Wrong About Introverts

Ditto on the article. I've never considered my self an introvert, because I enjoy people and can be the life of the party when I'm out socially, BUT I definitely need my alone time. Jim is an extrovert and he can wear me out. He doesn't seem to need alone time and needs to stay active. I'm more of a one night out on the weekend and he enjoys going out during the week. Being with an actual extrovert has made me realize my being an introvert. I just thought I was a home body.
From Michael Berg:

Every person has a unique connection to the Creator that can never be extinguished, and every person has a great soul that can manifest important things in our world. To make a person feel less than they are because of something inside themselves, be it faith, race, or sexual orientation, is the greatest sin of all."
Lotsa, did you ever watch Susan Cain's TED talk (I think SCG posted it a while back) about the power of introverts? It's wonderful.
No, I'll check it out...thx.

I have spent yet another evening reading until my eyes are crossed. I stumbled across the chronicles of one mans 5 day (well...) journey through the Appalachian Trail. I really enjoyed his tales of cicadas, discriminatory campers, Gatorade, Bologony (yes, that's correct) and The Brown Mountain Lights. Though, I still prefer the X Files theory of a giant hallucinatory mushrooms.

(PS- Cherokee's theory on BML was spirit wives of slain warriors walking the mountains looking for their husbands. I've also heard the lights are Cheokee and Catawba spirits roaming the hills, and another about a man looking for his daughter. I think people came up with a story every time someone saw them.)

i am soooooo ticked off right now!

yes, i *know* The Huffington Post prides itself on being an open forum, but comments like this on yet another article about weight (which always, everywhere online lead to people basically saying STOP EATING FATTIES) are disgusting enough that they need to be deleted:

Fat people need to stand up and be counted (leaving their enormous meals behind) or sit down, shut up and die of complications.

yep, it's an actual quote from an actual comment on this article:

The WWYD thread made me think of my favorite 6th grade teacher. History was his speciality. He would run into his supply closet and come out in full drag. It would apply to the lesson, costume and all. He had several yard sticks taped together with a fly swatter on the end. If you fell asleep in class, he would whack your head (no pain, just laughs). His contraption reached all the way to the back of the room He would also throw bubble gum at you when you got a question right, and sometimes when you were close or just completely clever. I loved that man. He really enjoyed teaching and made the classroom a joyful place. He was also a magnificent pianist, but was sadly fired from his second gig (player for his church) when they found out he was gay. The ugly 80's. It crushed him, but the church changed it's charter soon after so that would never happen again.

^ He was a hell of a lot better than the old school teachers who would paddle you so hard, you're feet came off the ground. He never did anything in a threatening way. He was actually quite gentle and kind.

Giving your practically newborn baby diamond (or even CZ) earrings is supremely stupid.

As I've stated before here, I don't work for the doc's wife, but she still keeps giving me projects to do for her. Just gave me another stack of fliers to mail out (153). Today she put her cell phone on my desk and instructed me to answer it. She said it sounds more professional if someone other then herself answers the phone. Like I don't have enough of my own work to do. I think it's more her self-entitlement that irks me the most. She treats me like a subservient. I'm putting out more resumes.
