So I was just driving on a main road and saw a little girl sitting a chair looking sad and pathetic with a stuffed animal under her arm. In her lap was a chalkboard sign that read "help Me" so of course I was looking around for what ever was wrong and saw a few other kids with a lemonade stand a few feet away from her.

She's a pawn to drum up business..... well played, children, well played

are the Russians going to Google every potential gay athlete, broadcaster, coach, Olympic official and arrest them en masse when they set foot in the country?

(yeah, okay, that's hyperbole...)

as much as i don't want to see another boycott of the games - because i LOVE them - i think we need to consider it.

It will become a problem, no doubt. I've already read up on who is saying what, and seen several (speculative) interviews with Johnny Weir. Arrest or deportation is highly likely, if they go to the 2014 games.

They vodka situation is just idiotic. The head of the LGBT activist group there is asking people to stop with the focus on Vodka. It's pointless, but yet you see tons of people on line shouting, "make people aware through Vodka! If we bring down this business, and cause many to lose their jobs in the process, that's just life! As long as it makes people aware, it's worth it!"

K then, and I was aware before I heard of the Vodka ordeal. Book burnings, prohibition, pitchforks and turning a bind eye to what those in danger are actually saying... I'm so proud.

And it gets better... The Russian Vodka is Latvian.

[This makes as much sense as banning/boycotting the Rolling Stone Cover (in hopes to crush the magazine). It was okay for the right wing media to use that photo, several times, but not okay for a more left wing publication.]

I have not had vodka since 1993 or 94. It used to be my underage beverage of choice, until I slid down a hill on my knees, busted out a screen window with my head, climbed on a roof to throw up, and passed out and saw myself leave my body and turn on the bedroom light. Surprisingly enough, I felt great the next day, but decided Vodka was not for me.

I'll fight a whole town on vodka and blue liquors (<- swiftly kicked out a car window on that, and I wasn't even mad. haven't touched blue drink since the early 90's either).

It is officially the night of the idiot. "Can you send one of your officers to a completely different county, over an hour away, to unlock a car? I tried to get that county to help me, but they told me to call a locksmith, because officers can not do unlocks." Yes... That is correct :-/

Oh my word, it's The Night of the Living Idiots. When I attempted to pull into work tonight several cars were blocking the road. Not too smart, considering emergency vehicles fly up and down the road. That was my first indiction of how the night would go. Our first call was someone in a completely different county, an hour away, requesting that we send one of our officers to unlock a car. This person had been informed by local officers to contact a locksmith, because officers are no longer allowed to do this due to liability. So... the caller decided to try officers in other jurisdictions first. Oooooookay. From there we have jumped, head first, into the abyss of ignorance and completely reckless insolence. It will be a miracle if everyone makes it out alive.

I'm so ready to get out of here. It finally calmed down, only to blow back up again at 4am. Drama!! So much drama tonight. Drama between one of our departments and another counties department, that happened when I was off, but we somehow got drug into tonight by simply doing our job. Lies!! So many lies told to our bosses about what was said, when everything was very professional, truly has nothing to do with us anyway because we were just go betweens, and I have the tapes to prove it. Oh yes, you weren't aware that even the fax lines in our office are recorded. You're in for a surprise, and I'm ready for a peaceful slumber.

Fifi, here's hoping you were able to finish your shift without hurting anyone and then able to fall into a perfectly fluffy bed and have fantastic sleep until your body is completely refreshed.

I made it through without any damage, but the next shift wasn't so lucky. People continued their spiral. I didn't sleep well at all today, but it's been a pretty good shift (and I have a ton of caffeine) so no problem. Hopefully we will be left alone unless absolutely needed. Thank Gawd most people have to work tomorrow!

I know, Rou. It's in the air. The political climate in a nearby county has been rather rough. They have some important events coming up and things always get hostile (that is an understatement). It tends to carry over. As my mom says, "People have to feel their roots here and there" (and we all have brawling in our DNA lol). It will go back to normal soon, and we'll be a big happy family again. It has nothing to do with anyone else anyway. Tensions are just high.

And have fun!!

NC.com holds so little pull for me anymore.
I don't know if it's the changes to NC.com or the changes to me that have occurred.

The world will never know.
I do not want to look back to try to find out why.
I do not want to remember because I do not
need to know.

All I need to know is it's all good.

P.S. The site - not the people. I still feel the same as always. <3

I am not the biggest football fan, but I always love a good story:

http://m.nydailynews.com/1.1417303

That is the sweetest thing.

******************************

In other news... All the sink holes popping up are crazy. The one in Kansas is massive. At the end of last week one developed under a business a couple hours from my town. Employees thought it was an earthquake. The building began to shake, and the floor started cracking and separating beneath their feet. Thankfully everyone made it outside. Scary.

***********************

My whole office smells strongly of tomatoes. One of my co worker came in with several extra from his garden, and another brought in several from the tomato festival. They are all making tomato and cheese sandwiches like they are going out of style. I hate the smell and taste of raw tomatoes, so I'm screwed, unless I make pasta. Mmmm.... Pasta.

Well somebody is over reactive, and snippety. No surprise there.

Oh sigh. 3 down, 1 to go. It was redneckavision last night. I mainly read as my co worker watched Duck Dynasty, Ice Road Truckers and Mountain Men. I actually enjoyed Mountain Men. I liked the pretty scenery and it gave me time to read up on one of the featured mountaineers. Eustace Conway, who lives in my neck of the woods, but he is North of me. It's rather interesting reading about his controversy. He is from SC, went to school at App State, was inspired by some naturalists, bought a large chunk of land in Boone, and has lived there for 30 some years. He has ran a naturist camp for 26, with no reports of illness or injury, and the government shut it down recently for not being up to code. It didn't have indoor plumbing, etc. Yeah, that's what makes it a naturist camp. People have their mixed emotions and some feel he should be forced to comply with code. As someone who lives in one of the last areas to get power, and modern conveniences (1940's or 1950's for most homes, and many didn't want it), I have no problem with it. It's how my parents grew up. I grew up spoiled (but still played running barefoot through the woods/mountains, for miles). You butchered your chickens on an old tree stump, you used an out house, you boiled your water and filled a tub to take a bath (most the time you just washed off), you made your clothes out of animal skin and flour sacks, etc. This is how our ancestors lived, and how we lived. You took in someone and they helped you work for shelter and food. It was a barter system (someone has called this slave labor. okay then. you're an idiot). I don't know this guy personally, but he reminds me of several people I know who came to the mountains to live a more simple (simply hard but enjoyable) life. Most are very nice.

**I also have to laugh at some of the blogs against him. It takes about 2 seconds to see the are written by twerps who have never paid a bill in their life. "This man charges $ for his nature camp, and sometimes sells timber for firewood. What does he do with all that money? He's a crook!!" You obviously have no idea how much property tax would be on 1000 acres of land, plus his structures. He's not free from all that. Plus there is feed for his live stock, etc... And shock and horror over him sometimes selling some trees! It's fine. Logging companies came in here and clear cut our mountains almost a hundred years ago. We have done all we can to help the trees in this temperate rain forest grow back, but people do still burn wood. It's amazing how far removed people get from reality/nature, in such a short time.

We head to court this morning for the murder trial. Any and all curly t & p would be appreciated. I'm hoping/praying for a quick and decisive verdict and as little drama as possible. I imagine emotions will be running high on both sides of the courtroom. We've been told this "should be" done in about a week, but could be less (and could be more, of course). Hoping for less.
