You have my thoughts & prayers (and also hugs). I hope it goes as quickly as possible, and justice is served.

I'll hush after this... The things happening to Amish and others who choose to live their life in a more environmentally friendly way really pisses me off. I enjoy my modern conveniences, but I also admire those who live off the land, and help support their more primitive communities. I always have. Not everyone has to stare at a computer 24-7. There is nothing wrong if they choose not to watch tv, live life on line, not drive cars, etc. It's a much harder road in rural areas, but it pays off in the long run, and teaches many things you do not learn otherwise. People are lacking now, in more ways than one. Each generation gets more socially awkward in face to face settings. Fortunately, the government stepped in after letters for support and are supposed to pass a law that excludes "primitive" structures from codes. I'm not counting on them to actually pass it. They seem more focused on destroying teachers (though I do hope they revamp standardized testing). Lard, they've all gone crazy!

Will be thinking of you and sending hugs your way. I hope it's over quickly and with the right result. Take care.

I hope it is just my allergies causing sneezing and coughing fits. I have not slept well in 2 days. I can not get comfortable.

I also hope I don't run into the spider that built this big azz web on my porch! It's a little harder to see in a cell pic, but it's in the right corner, though strands go from beam to beam.

Say It. I Dare You.-imageuploadedbycurltalk1375731659.903123.jpg

I usually name all the large web building spiders Charlotte. I like Charlottes (and Granddaddies), but this is more like a Big Charlie.

I just realized I have not seen an actual writing spider since living here. I used to see tons at the old house. They did the most fantastic webs. Zig Zags, pictures of spiders within the web... Amazing, from a distance

I'm funny that way. I'll pick up snakes, worms (I used to live hunting earth worms for fishing), water bugs, etc... but I'll leave the spiders alone.

People act like they haven't seen a prosthetic leg before. I have no problem with people looking, or even staring if they try to hide it a bit, but when you go out of your way to get me to notice that you are shocked by my leg, you deserve a slap in the face. I hate it even more when people just talk about it after to other people who know nothing about me. "Oh that's so tragic, I wonder how I happened? Poor girl" No! I am 100 percent able and probably better at walking than many regular 2 legged people! If you want to know what or how, just ask! I don't have a problem with answering questions! I wouldn't walk around in shorts if I was ashamed! I am proud of my leg, I am proud I beat cancer, and I don't care about sharing that with the world. This common misconception that it is rude to ask about "disabilities" is ridiculous! Nearly anyone with a difference or "disability" will tell you we don't care about answering questions and we prefer when people ask instead of gossiping about us. And don't you dare tell me "people are just curious". Stop making stupid assumptions behind my back and just get the balls to ask!

This is my life! Stop staring and ask. Don't tell your kids to stop staring and sush them. Tell them to ask respectfully. I was born with one arm just a few inches below the elbow. I stopped wearing a prosthetic as a child because it was my norm and I can do everything better without one. I know how it feels to be stared at everywhere you go though. I totally feel you.

Smh. Igot the opportunity for my daughter to talk to a woman who was born with very short legs. She was n a wheelchair. My baby just looked at her and smiled and said hey. She was really nice too. Vanessa didn't seem distracted at all that the woman wasn't walking around like everyone else. I was proud. The woman came over and talked to us about her rings, we were at a jewelry store. And it was great. Ppl ought to be used to seeing others who don't look the same. I agree. If you are curious enough to stare why don't u just ask?

How can I say goodbye P.L.G.

I have a dear friend who was in an auto accident and is now a quadriplegic. He told me he wished people would ask him what happened instead of staring and whispering. This guy is so phenomenal. He went back to school and is now a CPA and is involved in special olympics.

People need to get "unfiltered" at times, and stop being so askeered to talk.

Oh, get this... I just found out my county is working on their building codes, yet again. They keep getting stricter and stricter. They apparently already have this in place but have not started enforcing it yet. They better get ready for people to fly sideways if they try it... You are now supposed to get a permit to replace your own hot water heater when it breaks. Not only do you have to pay for new hwh, and the labor to replace it, but you have to pay a fee to the county to do this. Ha! Hahahahahhabahahahahaaaa. I don't think so. Whats next? Your stove, refrigerator, etc. kissmyass.

PS- I honestly don't know many people who skimp on their hot water heater. They may try to get it repaired first (which is a valid and logical option) but when it's dead and gone, you typically try to replace it with a good one that will actually last. No one wants to buy a new hwh every 5 months. If you want to monitor someone closely, hit the slum lords that every one is aware of. Make their life harder. They have people living in trailers that are not fit for roaches.

In a month's time I have to vote. I object to compulsory voting anyway, but when you see the clowns that are our options for PM......ugh.

Hurray! one of my problems solved, I found an art store just a few towns over!!!!

It's technically a frame shop, so she only has a few things. Even if they only had staple items it would be a godsend to me. It sucks so much to have to drive an hour because you need a $1 eraser.

But she's pretty much the supplier of a college art program so she will order anything at no extra charge, AND she sells singles of things normally only found in sets!

Ew! I did not expect to see you again, Mr. BJ Blabbermouth (no, I did not provide the J).

And you, Mr. Porsche — you drive a car worth at least $150k, and yet you live in a ramshackle house with broken front steps and torn curtains. Yuck city.

Finally, wow: that was mean. Mia Waggedy-Tail disapproves.

Don't get me wrong, I lurve NC.com but I miss the spirit of the old board and how it was when I first joined up until a year or so ago. It has nothing to do with the posters. It saddens me that it has changed so much or that I have changed so much that it no longer has the same draw or appeal. I do how that the board will continue to gain members and either regain back some gusto or move on (not skip or go else where) but continue to go forward and evolve.

FB isn't about 'f' bombs - its about the freedom to be able to say what I want to if I want to and not be chided like a small child or reminded to play nice at the mere whiff of disagreement. NC.com has the right to make their own rules and it is first and foremost a commerce site. I get that - it didn't alway seem that way but that's what it is.

After eating country ham, hash brown casserole, eggs, and biscuits... I am waiting for my blood pressure to explode. My mom seemed to be craving salt tonight.
