I just realized that while I've been researching reasons to give up dairy, my snack of choice has been yogurt.
I just ordered a yogurt maker from groupon. $20. Should be in soon. I don't care to eat the store bought yogurt. Too much sugar and preservatives. I'm on a search for a good, healthy yogurt starter. Instead of using regular milk, I'm going to try Almond or Coconut milk. I'm really into coconut right now. I'm making bread with coconut flour. Yummy!

I think I'm stuck here all day. Doc just called in from the airport and has work for me to do. Oh well, this is my Friday. I can make it. Jim will be back in town tomorrow night and I'll just snuggle up to him this weekend. This will make me feel MUCH better.

from the This or That thread

I just realized that the reason Blondies are called Blondies are because they are like brownies but are lighter colored (like Blonde, not BROWN) - Lord, I'm a moron

I'm laughing at myself. I always wondered where the name came from.

OK. I'm done. It's dead here at work and I'm falling asleep. Time to go home and take a nap. Hopefully, I'll feel better this evening so I can be productive at home.

I love when random stuff like that occurs to me. Then I feel like an idiot for not realizing it sooner

So Thursday night, I'm lying on the couch watching the end of a movie when I catch something fluttering in the corner of my eye. I sit up and it goes flying upstairs

I sat for a minute trying to figure out what to do. I wanted to hide under a blanket, or get help, but it was almost midnight and figured neither was much of an option. So I went upstairs and tried to find whatever it was. Turned on all the lights, checked that the attic hole thingy was closed, looked around the rooms, nothing.

Ok...I know it's up there somewhere

Then I see it, a bat, hanging onto a curtain in one of the spare rooms. Crap! What do I do now? Maybe open the screen and hope it flys out? Except I'll have to reach my hand behind the stupid thing to get to the screen

I go downstairs and grab a bowl with a lid. I figure I can trap it between the bowl and the screen and slide the top on the bowl. Perfect!

I get back upstairs and the stupid thing is doing laps around the light

So I shut the door, go downstairs and grab a broom. Go back up and it's still on some marathon flight. I sit on the ground and just start swatting at the stupid thing. Finally knock it down, I stand up and the little bugger takes off again!!!

Finally get it knocked out, the bowl over it and somehow the lid under and secured. Now what do I do with it???

I went to take it out on my back porch, but figured it was too dark there and I wanted some light in case it came to attack me. I went out front (a little proud of myself at this point for handling this!) and my neighbor is standing in his driveway. On comes the uncontrollable shaking and tears. He comes running over and I just throw the bowl at him and tell him to deal with it. He gets his wife who's trying to calm me down while he's laughing uncontrollably at me

He put the bowl with the bat in his truck and took off to get rid off it though, so as much as he laughed at my expense, he was my super hero

Being a single woman owning a home seriously sucks some days!!!!

Open a window, and shut the door and the bat will leave on its own.

Bats are good for us: they eat mosquitoes. And they're freaking adorable.

If it happens again, I'll be prepared! I was so freaked out once it started flying, opening the window never occurred to me

I know — a lot of people are freaked out by bats. They're really quite interesting and beneficial to the ecosystem, and contrary to legend, they avoid people as much as possible.

Sign Me,
Yes, I like bats, too; what can I say?

so, i didn't make it to mom's....

i got bit by something yesterday and ended up with a welt the size of a small egg on my neck just below my left ear. when i got to the hospital they asked me if i could identify the insect, as if i got a look at it!

by the time i got there, i was pale, shaking and starting to get a fever, so they put me on an IV with high doses of antihistamine. i got home at 4:00 this morning.

today i look like a vampire bit me; there are 2 small bites on my neck, very close together. the swelling has gone way down and other than a headache and being very sleepy, i'm feeling okay.

i don't know why i'm so attractive to biting bugs in this part of the world...

I can't stop laughing at the unitard. I've tried, but I can't.

Rou, I am so very sorry. That is terrible

Claudine, I'm glad to hear Miss Sadie is being a good patient. My little Bunny is back to her hippity hoppity self. She seems to be feeling much better, even though I can tell her paw his still a little sore. That's a hard one with animals. They are up & down and all around and won't give themselves time to heal.

I'm back to the unitard. Hahaha.

I hope everyone who has been feeling under the weather feels better!

I am having the hardest time recovering from my day shifts. I am exhausted.

TRBL- I love the color!

Speaking of... I will share these here too. I did a half ass blow out last week, after my new color. I planned on wearing it up and down and all around. Here are some pic's. As you can tell, I played. I didn't want to blur the face out as usual.

I picked up those makeup skillz at clown college circa 1982.
I was only 6 at the time, but I was advanced in goofery.

Fifi, your hair is beautiful
(Why have I always thought you were blonde?)
I'm glad your baby is feeling better.
I'm also still giggling about the unitard
