CC, I applaud your braveness, I would have freaked out at the sight of a bat in the house. We get birds in sometimes and they terrify me, I hate flying critters flapping around near me.

Rou - sounds awful. I had two little bites on my neck a couple of weeks ago, just annoying little things, nothing as bad as yours, but enough to annoy me. I think the mozzies are here early. Ugh.

mwahahaha evil plan is working.

Sasha hates new cat and me because I smell like him. Took new kitty to the vet today, and we only have the one crate. It was a long wait and he was nervous. Both me and the crate probably reek bad of new kitty, so she was really upset. But not enough to turn down treats with the hand I pet him with, or not sleep in her favorite cave (the crate he went to the vet in).

I read somewhere (and I'm not a cat person, so this may be ridiculous), put vanilla on their tails and the tops of their heads, as they groom they'll disperse it, and they'll both smell the same, which will help them adjust

That's a brilliant idea, Starmie!!!

I've had my cats for 3 years (one for 5, the other for 3) and they still hate each other. They might sleep within a couple of feet on the bed, but never any closer and more likely opposite rooms

It's just a matter of time I think. Sasha did the same thing to us when we first found her. She got over it after a few days. She's just not good with change. I think she's just confused and doesn't know what to think yet. She's doing things like demanding that we pet her hissing the whole time, growling while grooming us. And she is calming down after like a minute or 2. And I KNOW she can hold grudges longer than that! She's snubbed us for an hour for petting her wrong! It took her like 15 seconds to get over being mad at her carrier smell before she climbed in and napped on the same towel he did.

And him, he doesn't seem to have an aggressive bone in his body. He's obviously a little cautious, but nothing seems to phase him much, so far.

Thank you, PerriP! I am a natural blonde. Well, a natural dirty blonde. I'm not a fan of my natural color, so I change it up. I was born with a head full of jet black hair. ETA: That just reminded me of my dad. He said the first words out of his mouth, when he saw me, were... "Who does this beautiful little Indian baby belong to?" Haha. I looked more like my moms side of the family for a little while. It didn't fall out, it just changed from black to brown to red to strawberry blonde to blonde. When I was 12 all the other colors started coming back. The very bottom layer is almost black, the rest is a light brown or dark blonde, the sides are light blonde and everything has a red tint in the sunlight. It's confused.

I am worn out. I ended up going on spur of the moment shopping trip with my mom to the mall yesterday. I had gotten my bday money early from my brothers and and bought me some stuff. It was my first time entering Ulta. I may never be the same again. I was freaking out. Too Faced! Urban Decay! Benefits! Butter London! Zoya! (faint from overload). We were there for hours, went out for a delicious steak, and I came home and crashed. I had not been sleeping well but that helped me catch up, halfway.

I have a book club meeting this afternoon. And all I can think about is how nice it would be to be on my couch all day, watching Bones on Netflix.
I want one of those "I didn't take a shower until 4pm" days.

I love Bones. My ex got me hooked on it, but I have only watched the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 6th season. At some point I am going to fill in the blanks.

It's a 4pm shower day for me. No plans, my pj's feel great, and I have a movie with Alexander Skarsgard (What Massie Knew) waiting for me... It has excellent reviews.

very well, thanks! the only thing that gives anything away is the bite marks; the swelling has gone down completely. i'm still going to put the heavy-duty cortisone cream on twice a day until Friday as they recommended at the hospital.

and i did have a horrible episode of night sweats last night that i think might be related to the bite since i haven't had one of those since starting my HRT 3 years ago.

but i feel like myself again!

I think it's PerriP you need to be acknowledging, sadly I'm not known for brilliant ideas!

I have officially decided that my couch, pjs, and Bones trump book club.
I did run out to Whole Foods (not in my pajamas), but I'm planning on a very lazy continuation of my already lazy day.

So much to note yesterday at the salon: the scowling older lady with the champagne-blonde blow out; the blonde in the skimpy dress twirling a giant round brush; the odd burning smell in the air, which meant someone had processed her hair for straightness; the client who sat two chairs away, with her short, ear-revealing eton crop......

I didn't want to start a whole thread about this. Not sure why, just can't bring myself to do that. Linda Ronstadt can't sing anymore - she has Parkinsons.

I feel terribly sad for her, because she can't sing due to her throat muscles not working properly. I know about this because I experienced it from a brain tumor. Eventually, she won't be able to swallow, not even water, and will have to be fed mush and liquid through a stomach tube. It is absolutely dreadful.

I was so incredibly fortunate because I recovered the ability to swallow, but Parkinsons is progressive. She won't get better. Horrible, horrible disease.

Apologies for this morbid post but I feel so terribly sorry for her and for everyone who suffers from that.

^^^ *sigh*

Linda Ronstadt is one of my all-time favourite singers! i have my vinyl copies of her albums still.

when i was a teenager taking theatre arts for the first time, we were asked to do a lip-synch to our favourite artist - i picked her.

and got the highest mark in the class for my performance.

i love, love, LOVE her!

Yesterday Sasha was no longer hissing at the smell! So we cracked the door and let them peek at each other. He's very curious, she was back to hissing. He doesn't seem phased at all by her displays. He stood there for a moment, then walked away and laid down for a nap. Trying to figure out how to do a temporary baby gate with stuff I got around the house. I wish I had some tacks.

He's got energy now and no longer content to stay pinned in a room. Hopefully phase two of seeing each other will go quickly.

Still haven't thought of a name for him yet. It's hard when your time is so limited. I don't feel like I've got to know him that well yet.
