ya know, I draw some of my best stuff at night but I'm also prone to making some of the poorest choices out of sheer laziness that ruin otherwise good picture.

I know better, but there's just something about it being tired late at night, and trying to get something down while watching tv that makes me believe I can just eyeball everything and it will turn out awesome because I am just that cool. Then the next morning I look at it and um, no you're not.
I am exhausted. Part of my job (apparently) is helping with department functions, and we just finished up our end of summer potluck/picnic/bbq. Between the planning, set up, clean up, and OH MY GOD DEALING WITH ALL THESE FREAKING PEOPLE!! I really need a nap.

As an introvert I really want no one to talk to me the rest of the day, kthxbye!

I would like to know why my phone service is so bonkers. 3 bars, one bar, no bars, 3G, nada, snail ... It's been terrible.

I now have way too much to do in the next few hours.
When I hear terms like "hipster" I think, who told cliques they could leave high school??

Blah and yawn. It was all I could do to wake up and get ready this morning. I coughed, non stop; until 2am for no apparent reason. Get to work to find one co worker has a family emergency and has taken off and the other was 20 min late. I didn't bring lunch and now can't go get it (my sup is supposed to call and make me aware of things like this so I can plan ahead). One person on the night shift got up and ran. The supervisor on that shift kept sighing and going on and on about how she needed to go to walmart but would have to cancel due to school traffic and my partner being late. Eye roll, not my fault, get up and go, and enjoy your weekend off. Both of you leave. I think we know I can handle it for 10 more minutes. They leave, my co worker finally gets here, and my tooth broke.

I'd like to go back to bed now, please.

PS- I really don't know why people bother living in gated communities with security. (They have to keep the hillbillies out). Imo, if you hire someone to be a security guard, which they have training for, they should act like one. That doesn't mean try to stop a home invasion on your own (no danger of that) but they won't even check a burglar alarm by themselves. About 93% of alarms are false alarms. Put your big girl panties on and go check it. It's quite literally the very least you could do. No!! They get paid to wait for LEO to do their job. I guess they're just supposed to look pretty sitting at the gate.

Meanwhile... Their homes get robbed blind when they move to a different home for a different season, and the alarms never go off. My theory... They set it up (they're never upset! they call more freaked out about a bear in their yard or someones ugly car that ruined their day than 6 missing 60+ inch flat screens, etc) or it's one of the construction crews that build their home and know the codes. Several come in from other states.

Things I don't understand: People who hate on sight.

I understand disliking on sight, negative chemistry, rubbing the wrong way, reminding you of someone you don't like, stereotyping people based on clothes and body language.

But what I don't get is people who act on it. You've done nothing more then say hi to them and they're going out of their way to try to make you miserable. They're talking ish, spreading lies, trying to get you fired or break up your relationship.

I really don't get that. People like to say it's jealousy, but I don't feel like that works in all cases.
Honestly, it's been a pretty good day at work. Nothing major, which is fantastic, but if people do not start looking up phone numbers... I've had one medical call, one call for law and about 25 "What's the number to ..."? I can only hope tomorrow is pleasant, minus playing Ma Bell.

I recall a girl who hated my guts in high school, and constantly tried to talk my boyfriend into breaking up with me. She had her own boyfriend, so that was not the issue. One day she finally said, "your life is perfect and I hate you for it." Keep in mind she hardly spoke to me. Her BF and mine (att) were friends and she always acted like a little sweetheart in front of him, but all conversations were short, and random. She had never been to my house, I had never been to hers, and I had only known her for all of 2 months. She didn't know me or my life. She was a pain, and could be rather sneaky and cruel with her tricks and tactics one minute and just strange and making accusations that made no sense the next. But it turned out she also had a brain tumor that was causing serious issues with her thinking I doubt that's true with all, just like jealousy or pure ridiculous meanness.

Hope someone isn't directing this toward you. One hopes it ends in high school, but lord knows they're still out there. I've tangled with 3 in my 30's.

Okay, good. It's always exhausting when dealing with someone going after your job or husbands or your boyfriend and her husband... A little fun (cause they're usually not that smart. they've already been caught) but exhausting.

Oh my bestie. He has got to snap out of it. He has been stressed out due to work drama. Really stressed out. His bosses, who he loves and has worked for over 15 years, have sold the business. They didn't tell anyone until 2-3 weeks before the new owners take over. He just went to the beach for a week, came back, and had not called or texted me for 4 days. I knew something was wrong. He has lost close to 20 lbs. I think he spent the last 4 days in bed, period. I'm very forward so I told him to get his ass out of the bed and pull it together. Number 1. You still have a job 2. You don't know what the new owners are going to be like 3. You drive 1 hour to work and spend the night with people until your shifts are over and drive one hour back when you live in a city that has more restaurants on one block than we have in our whole town. Wtf? As my co worker says, "I was looking for a job when I found this one" I'm sure you'll find another if you feel you have to. Keep your eyes and options open.

The place he works is very laid back. He wears a hat that looks like a rabid dog chewed it. It's very broken in and comfortable. His shirts have holes under the arms. He doesn't shave, etc. He is very against grooming standards (not hygiene). He has been told he will have to get new clothes and shave and the man has lost his mind, along with his faith in humanity. That's all he knows about the new owners so far. That and the dad is corporate/the buyer and his organic loving son will run it. I'm happy about the last part. It's already a really good place to eat that has been written up in several mag's and serves some organic, gluten free, etc. I told him i didn't want to hear any bit**ing from a man when it comes to shaving. Hehe. I hope he will like them, and it's no where near as bad as he is imagining.

I really hope so. I don't know if I can stand it if his schedule gets changed or he has to start over some where new. He gets the perks of working the highest tipping shifts due to seniority. Only 2 other people, who I also went school with, and both with great degrees but even greater love of their current job, have been there almost as long as him.

^ Very true!

I mentioned on WAYW that I had the tv on discovery, and am watching a show about food allergy epidemic in the US.

There was a 50% increase in Food Allergies, in America, from 1997 to 2011, with no known reason why. I was thinking about factors (yet again). US Population was roughly 273 mil in 97 and 309 mil in 11. That would count for a small amount but... 50%! GMO was introduced into our food in 1994 (though I did not hear mention of it until... later). Vaccination schedules changed, yet again, in the 80's and 90's and went from what I had in the 70's (polio was individual and the rest were combined into 2 shots)

Tetanus
Diphtheria
Pertussis (whooping cough)
Polio
Measles
Mumps
Rubella

To this by the 2000's

As of 2010, the schedule of children ages 0-6 years includes recommendations for the following vaccinations:

Hepatitis B
Rotavirus
Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis (combined DTaP vaccine)
Hib (Haemophilus influenzae type b)
Pneumococcal
Polio (inactivated vaccine)
Influenza
Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (combined MMR vaccine)
Varicella (chickenpox)
Hepatitis A
Meningococcal
In addition, the 7-18 years schedule recommends vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV), and includes details regarding the conditions HPV vaccine prevents and the age and dosing suggestions for various risk groups.

I missed exactly what they were talking about when saying 1 in every 13 children have a deadly form of allergies now. Not sure if it was peanut or something else. Eeee. I have no food allergies. I've been tested. No one I knew had food allergies K-12 or 80-93. Seasonal allergies, yes. My friends children either have or all know someone with food allergies though. Odd

I do wonder with some kids if they have grown out of it but are not aware. I know that has happened with some of my friends/families kids, with particular foods. What bothered them at 5 didn't at 15.

Just pondering.

I don't think people know the area codes, prefix or state where the live anymore. Yet another person in a county of the same name, but in a completely different state, googled the (specific county) animal shelter and called us. I know people have little need for memorizing numbers or placing phones calls often for that matter now, but it's still good to know. It's helpful, and can save everyone some time and confusion.

It would also be helpful if people actually clicked on "contact us" and saw the address, telephone and fax numbers, and hours of operation for the shelter itself and would stop telling us that we're the only number it gives when it clearly states, on the home page:

If you need to reach an animal control officer, DUE TO AN ANIMAL BITE, after 5pm M-F, after 4pm Saturday and on Sunday contact dispatch/911 center at ...

Either they have have pathetic reading comprehension skills or are full of isht.

All that said, we have gotten 911's from land lines in Hawaii before, so mistakes or oddities do happen. This type of thing just happens way too often.
