Thank you, PerriP! The swelling is down this morning so that's a plus.

Ah! I would have loved to sleep a little longer, but I feel much better.

You get used to it, don't you? I cussed a little and grabbed an ice pack.

I really need to get ready and run some errands but I don't want to move today. I'm perfectly happy catching up on the few episodes of Da Vinci's Demons that I missed, but it really is too pretty outside.

Hmmm, My best east facing window is not getting as much sun and light as I anticipated. I'm gonna have to come up with a new plan for my plants. I guess I'm going to have to squeeze them all in my computer room/studio as if it's not cluttered enough.

For some reason, I had a lot of interactions with older people today. They scare me a bit, but everyone was nice.

I finally identified most of my plants. I was reading up on them, care, where they're from, etc. Afterwards I realized I created a mexican garden. (nearly half my plants originate from mexico).

I still can not find another cactus online that looks like my monster. I've been trying to identify this beast forever. I can find close matches, but there's always something off. If I hadn't bought it at Kmart for $1 I'd almost think it's rare at this point.

Pretty good video so far (not finished yet). I'm watching through the tv. My phone hardly makes it through a 3 min video.

I was just discussing debt with some younger friends the other day. I can remember my parents getting a credit card in the mid-later 80's. My brother got married at 19, his wife got pregnant on their honeymoon, they worked at a steakhouse... Needless to say they were not prepared. My parents put a crib on their Discover Card and were still paying the damn thing off many many years later. The interest was insane! I saw that, I watched my brother go back to school after he and his wife split 3 years later on student loans, and I watched him pay it back for years on end. I avoided debt like the plague because of what I saw. Part of that included watching almost every factory in my town close as work was outsourced. I never had that American Dream delusion. I was told to wake up

Any the who, one difference I find funny is teens didn't get credit card applications in the mail when I was in high school, like they do now. In fact, many in my generation had a very hard time getting a CC because we had no credit. Not bad, just none. Most were rejected several times.

What the friggity frig frig!! I get on YT, it requires an update, I update and it runs smoothly. A week later, another update, and it won't work. Make up your mind, and quit creating problems and sucking the life out of my hard drive.

I have got to get a mixer! I got a cramp from trying to mix a cake by hand. I wasn't planning on baking cake tonight, but my son started making it without me.

I sometimes forget how much I love Do The Evolution (recorded/released in 97-98 which makes it more brilliant). I think many would find the video offensive as opposed to punch you in the face truth, so I shall not post, but I will write out a couple of the verses.

Woo..
I'm ahead, I'm a man
I'm the first mammal to wear pants, yeah
I'm at peace with my lust
I can kill 'cause in God I trust, yeah
It's evolution, baby

Admire me, admire my home
Admire my son, he's my clone
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
This land is mine, this land is free
I'll do what I want but irresponsibly
It's evolution, baby

I am ahead, I am advanced
I am the first mammal to make plans, yeah
I crawled the earth, but now I'm higher
2010, watch it go to fire
It's evolution, baby
Do the evolution
Come on, come on, come on

People go crazy when they play that live. I just wanted to break isht. Pearl Jam = Most energy in a room, ever.

A man is married to one of a set of beautiful identical twins. Someone has insulted his wife's twin, K, so he tells K that she is so beautiful inside and out and that is why he married her sister.

Am I the only one who finds this slightly inappropriate? I'm sure he meant nothing by it and just wrote it without thinking it through completely, but still.

Twins can often be similar in more ways than appearance. Of course they are not the same person (duh, right?) but many are beyond bonded or connected. I would be more likely to think the person was just trying to be encouraging and comforting and that's not inappropriate, even when it might not come out exactly right.

Just to add to... If I'm sure the person meant well, I will give an A for effort, maybe have a chuckle, and move on. Honestly good intention is far more important than wording, imo.

Ugh. The PSA Lemon thread just reminded me of my very annoying former co worker who had a melt down, in office, when she peeled an orange for the very first time. 26 years old, grew up in Florida, and had never peeled her own orange. I wanted to ask if someone still wiped for her too. She somehow managed to hand zest it, she eventually broke through and it squirted in her eye, and she started crying. She stood up, stomped her feet, threw things, and tossed the orange. It's quite possibly one of the oddest things I have ever witnessed in my life.

I find this so interesting. According to the chart from NYT I'm in a much higher class than I ever expected or feel like I am.

I guess when I think of class I think more socially. The three indicators they use; Education, Income and Wealth, to me, are based on choices.

I grew up poor, I got a college degree because my mother had such a hard time finding a job after my father passed away in the 80's because she didn't have one. "Do what makes you happy in life, but get that piece of paper first" she would say.

I make a good salary because I chose a good job, however I work for every dollar. Working in a Utility company means 24/7 operations. I work long days, I have to be on call so many weeks per year and if there's a storm or some other natural disaster then I'm on 16hr shifts until everything is repaired. Actually when the weather is bad, that's when we're the most needed. I've been outside doing my job in the blazing heat, freezing cold, blizzards, hurricanes...you name it.

On paper I look like a high class lady, but no one will be inviting me to any black tie galas anytime soon. I'm just too blue collar for that.

this was me when i first moved here to London. at the time, i REALLY wanted to buy a little house in the same neighbourhood i live in now. it was only $88,000 for a 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath renovated house.

but i had NO credit! i had given up all my credit cards almost 20 years earlier after the psycho ex ran them all up - i still wonder why the idiots who let him do that didn't notice he was signing his name, not even trying to forge mine. the companies had to write off a lot of the debt after letters from my lawyer and i paid the rest off and cancelled the cards.

when my mortgage broker explained i couldn't get a mortgage without establishing credit, i went and got a secured card and used it wisely for the next 2.5 years.

and i got a better house in the same neighbourhood. (good thing i didn't get the other one, it's right next to one set of train tracks and has NO basement - ergo, electric heat $$$ and no central air!)

this week, i renewed my mortgage at a MUCH lower rate with a new provider, and they are giving me a new credit card at a MUCH lower interest rate (i didn't want a rewards card) and a line of credit.

according to that chart, i am solidly upper-middle and top-5th in class.

i never would have guessed.

i'm having dinner with Mr. Gorgeous tonight.
