25 Reminders Of What 'Obscene' Really Is

An interesting read, I'm still ruminating on it, but definitely made me think

And I do have to separate from her on several issues. I actually agreed with a few statements and that was about it. I still do not find Blurred Lines to be a rape song, and I won't. It's not that I don't know that rapists have said those words (I know you want it) to women, but so have boyfriends/husbands/ in a completely consensual and playful manner with no negative intent. They have also told women that the outfit they are wearing is turing them on/making them think about things, in a completely consensual manner. The song is not cut and dry to me, and I still think it's about 2 different men, and one woman, that know each other. That is all just a matter of opinion anyway. **Which I see she noted. Good deal. I can hardly this thing. My phone is backing out of stuff and closing it out.

ETA: As one person stated it, rapists also say, "Would you like to go to the movies tonight"?

I also read about the girl who was cussed out at the concert. That was a pretty rough song, from what I could tell (never heard it) and she had been following him around on line and in person trying to expose him as a rapist. Hence the blow up, which was not pretty. *I am not sure about how I feel about that whole situation. Just not good. This is the same group that flew all to hell over blurred lines. Eeeee. Ahhhhh. See above.

Crap! My cell has gone crazy!

**Okay, nm, now I am back to going huh? I'm going to have to read this later. I can't get my phone to work right. She posted some links that also make me say huh? because I look at the song and video for BL as 2 separate animals. It was conceived and done by a woman director who wanted to throw in all the dumb as*ery she could. Do I see this as feminist? No. I see it as silly, which is what she said it was intended to be. Also, some things are misquoted from interviews, and some snark was taken as a serious answer.

Any the way, I am not getting all livid over that song or the 3 different version of the video.

I called and cancelled. They tried to take me from $168 to $113. Nope. I now have a $52 internet bill.

$116 per month savings. WOOOOOOHOOOOOO!

Even after signing up for nextflix and hulu, it will be a ~$100 savings. Now, I have to hook up my Roku

In case you change your mind...I have WOW and I get my landline, internet and cable for $70/month. They raise it every year so you have to pay attn and remind them to re-apply the offer, but it's worth the aggravation.

Finally got Neville to the vet to get neutered. Had to wait an hour and a half bc two emergencies came in back to back. Then a loudmouth came in and I ended up missing our turn bc I couldn't hear. I got her hear her entire life story, 3 times. It was packed in there. I nearly got caught in the middle of a dog fight. My nerves are shot.

OMG someone brought in 3 english mastiffs. They were so big had to use a horse trailer to haul them. The male was HUGE! He was a lean 250lbs, at least 3 1/2 feet tall, and I would guess around a 40" neck. He was just wow.

Neville doesn't like dogs. I think he traumatized a pinscher and severely hurt the feelings of a bernese mountain dog. That dog (the bernese) had the finest ninja and anchoring skills that I have ever seen. He kept inching along oh so slowly. Then his owner would notice and try and bring him back. He'd plant that butt firmly on the floor trying to resist going back.

Still... Very interesting article Perri. I'm still not done with it, but the list of things I agree with has grown. The photographer... Disgusting man. It is also disgusting that girls are bullied and people pile on, as opposed to defending or attempting to stop it. So many things are disgusting or obscene, but people are never going to see eye to eye on all of them. While I did find several pictures under the advertising section to be more than questionable, some I did not.

^ not my cup of tea, but it is many peoples (men and women) in a consensual setting. I will not judge them for this.

Sorry if I am rambling on too much, but I find the different view points to be a good topic. Am I supposed to be scared of a shadow in the first pic? I'm not afraid of my own, and a mans does not always equal ominous. I've already said all I need to say on the second. On the 3rd I guess some were afraid of the knives, and offended by the lack of clothes. Most kt assistants wear leotards. You can't wear things that block the outline of the body, and the focus is on the shoes. In the last, I guess some think the man holding the woman is holding her down, as opposed to the way I see it... simply holding her. To me it's a rather obvious nod to Sex Police, which radfems or separatist feminists are called in some circles. It's also the name of one of my favorite 90's local bands. They were so good.

I would not have been able to take women's studies in school. I will sit down and read every word of something, no matter how long, but it is quite literally all I can do to make it through this. No way could I spend a large amount of time studying my feelings on this book.

I thought it was very interesting, too. Only got through about half of the links. I agree with the shadow picture, I was surprised at the "we know what this signifies"or whatever it said. Parts of the article (and things I linked to), I found myself nodding my head. At other times I scratched my head.

That's exactly how I am. Of course there are several points made that 99% of women will agree on, but some goes far beyond, imo. Feminism has been splintered into so many sub groups (some seem like the Twilight Zone to me) that's it's obscene to the cause. People are renouncing the word.

^ Which happened in the 70's as well.

It's a vicious circle.

Feminism, The Book Club

I'm gonna write it. Haha

ETA: I'm sorry, I have to say it. I can not even begin to understand a fraction (and sub fractions) of a movement that builds a large part of it's non violence platform around a paranoid schizophrenic who wrote about wiping out the male species and shot 3 men in real life. It's like admiring the Navy Yard Shooter, or some infamous dictators. I can't go there. I can play a video game, read a work of fiction, listen to blurred lines, watch a movie, flip through a magazine, etc... but I can't go there.

^ Shock and horror! I am glad you slept well. I stayed up far too late reading.

I just found out my brother is coming over to attempt working on my living room light again. Blah. Love my brother, and don't mind seeing him, but my house is a wreck and I would have appreciated a heads up.

Jeez Louise! 1 & 5 of the 70 some million Baby Boomers have a mental health disorder, and are facing a crisis due to the lack of help. That's just pitiful. I knew there was a great deal, but I didn't expect that many.

http://acatalogueoflies.wordpress.co...hool-children/

I can't imagine how mothers of boys feel. I know/am sure being a mother of a girl has it's own set of problems, and that... *Well, I don't guess it matters because part of the garbage spewed is that women who relate to men should be taken out as well, along with 952 other people until you reach female utopia* It's obvious that fathers have not been happy, and there are so many articles written about the problems in Sweden. There will be a breaking point, and backlash, at some point. In the mean time, it's sad that no one commented.

ETA: From what I can gather they have no problems with equality there. The problem is it has passed equality and went to domination for many. It is becoming revenge. Welcome to humanity, 101.

I still can't get the reasoning behind a song being more dangerous or "social justice" worthy than the ban on sex offenders being lifted on FB & Twitter. Whatthehell?

*Several people still do not seem to get that FB is being prohibited from blocking or monitoring S.O's in the states where the ban is being lifted. It's all an argument of freedom of speech, which I am all for, as a general rule. I will also say that the S.O registry needs to be worked on. There are several people on it for no good reason, but the ACLU is clearly defending convicted child molesters, many who have used the internet as a way to find their prey. F**k them. Those stipulations are there for protection. It's the same premiss as convicted felons not being allowed to have a gun. Do you really want to open that door? The ACLU would defend a murderer rather than a person who committed a non violent act.

Gah I am tired but my head is pounding.

Hahaha. I have had the most fun reading this weekend. Ohhhhh Dear

http://www.avoiceformen.com/feminism...-against-hate/

It still wasn't quite as fun as learning about ROKS. The group that has/had a large number of shelters for women but wouldn't allow any treatment programs for women who were abuse victims or any type of counseling for men who commit crimes. You wanna know why? Because men are all Satanist child molesters who are coming to attack them. I shouldn't laugh. There are obviously some serious problems there (which the ideology attracts), but I am not sure I can justify that as a larger problem than groups like this receiving government funding.

(How do you, with any seriousness, run around pointing like a selfish 5 year old demanding people not say this, do this, do that, "it offends me" and pull stuff like this?)

So, I'm not imagining it or exaggerating: working in advertising made the list of worst jobs, again.

I'm getting ill. Watching The Gender Wars, which is a documentary about ROKS. If this girls claims are correct (and there are several interviews that support what she was saying)... Somebody needed to be thrown under the jail. This girl contacted one of their women/girls abuse shelter, one that is named after a character that executed men, because she had been abused. She was then informed that she was a victim of a cult of elite satanic child molesters, given medication to keep her calm, and along with another girl was smuggled to a shelter Norway for protection. The other girl tried to kill herself twice, and they bandaged and medicated her themselves rather than seek professional help. The whole time they attempted to make these girls believe that they were victims of a cult and in danger.

Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick.

And Professors/creators of specific feminist theories are/were a part of this "group".

I can't help thinking about my favorite little PS woman. Huge amounts of drugs in the time of free love caused her delusions. Constantly people (and gnomes) were coming after her, hiding under her sink, crawling up through her vents, etc. She would never stay on her meds. She passed away a few years ago. She was actually quite nice, but really messed herself up.
