I kinda hate all the rants about technology ruining everything. I think people are looking at the past through rose colored glasses.

Some people have good memories and a good internal clock, and other's don't. Some are very social and love talking to strangers, then there are people who dread it. Some are attention seeking, superficial and care more about quantity than quality of friends, and some are the opposite. Technology didn't create these traits, they've always been around. They're just more visible now. People who spend all day online are the new couch potatoes. Rude people who ignored you or interrupted you to talk to someone else existed before smartphones.

As a shy, scatterbrained, inquisitive introvert who could forget her own birthday, I consider technology to be a godsend.

It can be a good thing, Cymp, and a very needed thing. I am really not ranting as much as talking about some issues I, along with many others, do see. It's something I am very interested in, based on my own reasons, and it comes from a place of being worried about kids and social interactions. Nothing wrong with being introverted or shy. People were those things long before technology.

It sometimes feels like people are attacking and ranting in these discussions. It happened with tv, it happens with music (the devil was in all records and making people kill), etc... But I always liked those conversations too, even when they pissed me off

There is a different set of issues with some technology, and I have noticed a change in the people I speak to, which links to some of the studies. That's why I explore.

Let me add too... I have a 13 yo nephew (who I believe is autistic) who does not sleep. His iPad is tied to his hands, 24-7. He may take a 2 hour nap, and he is back on it. He paces the floor, back and forth, looking at it. When his mom wakes up in the morning to get him ready for school, he is huddled in a corner in the hall, already dressed, looking at. For the love of God... I wish they would take it away. They go to sleep and have no idea that he is up all day and all night. Worries the crap out of me.

I'm sorry Rou Hope you didn't mess it up, and you are feeling tip top tomorrow.
Mine is finally starting to ease up a bit, but it's still not great. If I move in just the wrong way... No!

I keep trying to watch 1984 but my copy is almost worn out. The opening scene is such a strange thing

The video was listed wrong. See below
Fascists (reactionaries) are freaky,mmmkay

For those of you who are fans of the book and the movie (depending on the version) I did come across this. It's from last year but maybe it's still in the works

http://m.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-...imagine-303003

I hope it is. I think it's about time.

I wish I could find the article I read about bullying the other day. It was really good. Sad, but good. A woman had kept a diary of her torment after her "friends" (some her bff's att) spread around she was a slut because she went to 3rd base with her boyfriend. People created sites about her needing to die. They created FB profiles and IM accounts to torment her. She would get messages asking if she had killed herself yet. Horrible. She came across this after so many stories came out about young girls who had taken their lives after being tormented online, and wrote a fantastic piece about it.

They're still freaky And nm because it's edited, skips around the people screaming at a screen scene, throws in other evil, and still isn't right. Why can no one simply do the opening mass hysteria brought on by newspeak and revisionism scene?

I do love how they filmed this is 84', when the 1940's novel was set. Consumption (and the world around you) must really bring out the writer in some.

How is it that I am the only one obsessing over the fact that there are currently two boxes of Thin Mints in the office freezer?

scrills - have you found a way to see CBS shows thru Roku? I realize most of my shows are on CBS that I DVR but they aren't supported through hulu+

Don't leave, Fifi! I enjoy reading your posts.
Thank you, secret karma. I have enjoyed my (almost) 2 years here. I have loved reading posts, and enjoyed the thoughts and funnies of so many people that I have and have not even really talked to in depth. I just really need to go. There are some things I see (I am not talking specifically about a person/people here, because I like my curlies) online that I am really not comfortable with. It's common behaviors, and due to a long list of reasons that I will not go into, it's just ethically hard for me to watch things (society) go in this direction. Sorry that's vague, but it has to do with the way I relate things due to my job. Things that people feel free doing online are dangerous things, in my eyes, and it seems normal. Things I am legally obligated not to do. It's a rock and hard place. I need to back away from it. I really do need to spend more time off line than on as well.

Thank you again though! Take care (that goes for all of you)

These were left over from last year.

I already ate so many my stomach hurts.

Guess I'd better leave them here at work.
