Giant poodles just don't look right w the little toy poodle circus clip. Aren't there any dignified haircuts for tall, stately dogs w curly hair?

There are some things I see (I am not talking specifically about a person/people here, because I like my curlies) online that I am really not comfortable with. It's common behaviors, and due to a long list of reasons that I will not go into, it's just ethically hard for me to watch things (society) go in this direction. Sorry that's vague, but it has to do with the way I relate things due to my job. Things that people feel free doing online are dangerous things, in my eyes, and it seems normal. Things I am legally obligated not to do. It's a rock and hard place. I need to back away from it. I really do need to spend more time off line than on as well.

Thank you again though! Take care (that goes for all of you)

I am highly frustrated with the world. I can not go online or turn on the news w/o seeing someone being ripped apart for something they possibly did or said, and 99% of the time all the facts are not known. I find it horrible that people do not think twice about sharing sites with someones phone number, date of birth, height, weight, and email address. I am not just talking about whoever originally shared (and not talking about Perri) the Sleepless in Austin article. I have seen it done with copies of 911 calls released to the public on YT, by an everyday citizen. This is information that I could not disseminate to the public after a call, and it makes me highly uncomfortable. Every time you turn around people are calling for businesses to be destroyed (simply because they are offended by one cover or article), and for peoples lives to be ruined. It strikes me a vigilante and/or bullying movement, and it is not good. We have reverted back to burning magazines and books in the street after online frenzies are sparked. People are harassed to the point of taking their own life or taking other lives, and I am personally exhausted from being bombarded by work calls from people demanding justice when no crime has been committed. It's a large combination of things, and I need to back away from as much of it as I can.

Hope that was better
When I hear terms like "hipster" I think, who told cliques they could leave high school??

I don't know. I'm pondering. I will be gone for a while, but I may be back. Thank you gals. You know I'm crazy about this place. I'm just not crazy about the interwebz world right now.

I will say that it never occurred to me that posting that article could have ramifications (and I don't mean fifi's response, I mean in general) and it's certainly made me think about things I post and that yes, I'm obviously a little too disconnected. I appreciate fifi's input on this

Oh fifi, I hope you come back at some point. I think I get your frustrations, I feel it too, but not to such an extent.
Take care of yourself.

My husband just had to save a co-worker from a "vicious" rott. It was wiggling it's butt and hopping at everything that moved, including grasshoppers. She's screaming that it's going to charge him. He's trying to get close enough to read the tags, but it keep jumping away from him. Then her daddy showed up, and they got to see how truly killer this rott is. She's in tttrrroooubblllee In addition to escaping Daisy just went to the groomers yesterday for an $80 bath and now she's covered in mud. Hearing that she wasn't going to get any treats today had her reduced to a pitiful whimpering lump.

Seriously, the woman who was so scared of Daisy is supposedly a dog person. I am not. How does someone mistake very puppy-like play as aggressive behavior? I will never understand why I seem to know more than so many of the dog owners that I meet. Last year I met a woman who was supposedly a life long dog owner/lover that didn't know until long after she got one that pit bulls get larger than 20 lbs. She was pretty mad about it. She also couldn't understand why her dog wouldn't mind when she told him no in a cutesy baby voice. And last week, I met a woman at the vet who claims to be a long time rescuer who trains them to be service/therapy dogs who couldn't identify a basset hound, a pug, a corgi and several other very well known breeds.

I'm a dog lover - but I tend to be frightened of larger dogs.
My parents got a Rottie about a year and half ago (from my brother bc he moved into an apt that would not allow the dog) - I was TERRIFIED.

That dog is the sweetest, kindest, gentlest dog I've ever met. She has the big wiggly butt and soft face. She lays down all the way and squishes herself into the ground so she can be the same "size" as Finlay when they play - she's a treasure.

ETA: I can tell the difference between aggressive behavior and play, though!

I was mauled by a dog so I'm not very trusting of dogs. I can not handle the breed of dog at all or outright aggressiveness. I will lose it. If I even accidentally seeing a picture for 2 seconds and I am shaking and trying not to cry. It's a very uncommon breed so not a situation I have to deal with often. But otherwise if they appear relaxed, controlled, have manners, and don't bark at me too much then I'm ok with them. If the owners don't seem to mind intrusive behaviors on strangers or think they're exempt from laws or rules, then I stay away. I don't care how "friendly" the dog is. I start wondering what else they excuse.

I've only been bitten by small dogs....although I did attempt a rescue that went poorly once, and wound up needing rabies shots just in case. That really sucked. (Although while I was in the E.R., I peeked between the gap in the curtains between beds and saw a guy with a super nice @ss getting dressed, so it wasn't all bad. And my brother made really funny werewolf jokes to both the nurses and me. The color of the serum was bright pink, and looked kind of toxic, though, so I guess it really was gross, over all.)

I love rotties. They have wonderful eyes. And those eyebrow markings! I always think of Good Dog Carl when I meet one.

But a person who calls herself a dog lover or a dog rescuer who can't identify common breeds or recognize aggressiveness is a ding-dong, in my book.

So, I just had lunch with my brother, and learned why my nephew quit a sport he liked, and had even spent a summer coaching. He's called a "head case" because he gets frustrated and acts out when he's losing. I think this is kind of funny, but I feel bad in case he was openly told that's what he's known as within the sport. Poor guy.

Still, I think it's a little bit funny. He's a teenager! Aren't they usually emotional?

LOL that was stupid of me), and a miniature schnauzer (mine, he was having a panic attack - note to self: the appropriate reaction is NOT to clutch them to you and try to calm them with soft words - he bit my lip - that was not nice)

so.. I really don't know why larger dogs scare me, seems I'm split with my bites.

eta; large dogs that I don't know - ones I know, I'm fine with

Well, any size dog can bite. I think it's just a matter of the situation at hand. Obviously I'm biased because I sleep with four pitbulls, but I think I'd try to baby a small dog too much if I had one.

My BFF has two tiny dogs and I try to carry them around with me as much as possible when I see them. I also buy them tiny jackets. One of them likes to lick up my nose.

Agree re any size dog can bite. I do find more little ones who snap, but I also interact with smaller ones, esp at the shelter. And, many times those guys are so afraid, and sometimes people don't seem to pay attention to the "I'm really scared please stop that" look.

I lived across the hall from a family whose tiny little bit of a dog would attack and bite the mom, she'd have bandages all up and down her arms. Scary.
