Nothing but blue skies, sunshine and a yard full of leaves today. It is chilly but incredibly beautiful. A hot cup of coffee on the porch was nice.

And so it begins... I am with 2 part timers the next 4 nights. This may be interesting. At least one knows what he is doing. The other, not in the slightest.

ETA ^ I was not kidding. I know this guy has only worked sporadically, but he has still worked here since May or June. Long enough to not be asking me if he should give a domestic out or not when he hangs up a 911. That should not be asked at all, but we'll excuse it the first day or two. Same applies to fire alarms. He's an air head, and if he informs me that I can answer the phone and "deal with" a specific caller, when they call back, because he has had enough after one phone call... We are going to have a problem. I've been talking to them for ten years. We'll talk about dealing with it.

I need to get sick and be out of work + have my regular time off more often. Someone cleaned this office top to bottom, rearranged things, and did a really nice job. They threw out our Astroids (Atari game) poster, which is a no no, but other than that it's fantastic! I normally walk in to a disaster area.

Have a good weekend all! The public is distracted by a giant parade at the moment, but we will be going from zero to 300 soon, and probably stay that way.

very excited! In a couple of hours, I'm heading out to a friend's wedding celebration. He and his partner went out to CA a few weeks ago and got married. This afternoon is a beer festival, then celebration at his house this evening, followed by brunch in the morning.
I've known this guy since 7th grade, and we lived in Idaho together and also in England (military brats) and now here in Texas. He's one of my oldest friends. I'm very happy for him (and his partner).
Friends from high school are flying in.
I've been up since 5!

I am making do with a chocolate chip brownie, but gosh, I wish I had some flourless chocolate cake right now.

Also, it's too damned windy outside. I hate strong winds.

I am quickly stuffing fire dept BBQ in my mouth. God it's good. Slow cooked, all night long. Mmmm!

If anyone is going out for Halloween tonight, have fun (and have one for me) and be safe. People are crazy. I walked in to a very bad call and had to take it over so the other shift could leave. We'll all probably be sitting in court thanks to this jack ***.

Break over. Blah.

I finally had a chance to finish my BBQ, loaded slaw, broccoli casserole, baked beans, hush and pumpkin cupcake. All wonderful. I love it when the fire departments have big dinners or breakfasts, and share. They are all very good cooks.

I was just asked if Homey D. Clown was a character on (Rob Zombies horror flick) The Devils Rejects. I don't know how to respond to that.

He wasn't born until 92 so I can't blame him for not knowing who Homey, Fire Marshall Bill, Wanda, Anton, Vera di Milo, Blaine Edwards & Antoine Merriweather, and Mr & Mrs Brooks are. But I can find him completely strange for not laughing at Homey or FM Bill.

Yep, I am going with the first one, on both my co workers. I can not take 2 more nights of this. The boy needs to go home at 1 am tomorrow (oh yes, I have the power), and the other needs to calm down and clean up. He has turned this office upside down, moved furniture around to work on school projects and not put it back (we had oxygen tanks, face masks, rubber gloves, scopes and breathing tubes thrown all over the damn place). He is now blasting his tv and a computer game, while he has every tragically bright fluorescent light on. My head is busting. We keep it dim and somewhat peaceful in here for a very important reason.

The other has gotten on my nerves one too many times. No excuse. He asks for help and then acts like a know it all. He wanted to know where a specific apartment bldg was located. I tell him it is off Apple Tree Lane. He corrects me and screams, "No! It's off Omega Court!" Which means he had the address pulled up, was looking at the information, and could have clicked directions for very thorough specifics. I told him to look and see which main road Omega Drive was off of, and told him it would be Apple Tree. He snapped again. "I don't know!". That's why I am trying to tell you. Shut up and listen. When he gave it out he said OMEGA ROAD really loud. Please, and he wonders why no one wants to work with him. He's still insisting we "handle the next call" from so and so because he isn't dealing with it. He asked our other co worker if he could put him down for a reference when he applied for another part time job. He told him he might not like the honest reference he gives. He still thinks he is kidding. :-/ He is not. This guy is no where near ready for or serious about a job, but he does not mind playing boss.

Ahhhhhh. A tall glass of water, and sweet starving kitties. It's good to be home.

I am not looking forward to court. No, I am not. I am quite sure I will be spending large amounts of time in court, and on the stand, for a call I did not take and knew nothing about until I walked in and was asked to take over. As the night unfolded that became more of a cluster than even imaginable. I did nothing wrong. It's nothing like that, just a standard in some situations. Very sad, but could have been much much worse. I just hate the idea of being questioned and honestly saying... I have no idea. Lol. (I just heard the original call 5 minutes ago, myself). I like to be a little more thorough and helpful with my responses.

I had such a good time visiting with some of my favorite people over the past two days. Also, this was the first same-sex wedding I'd ever attended and it was absolutely beautiful. Tears were shed across the board. And it was such a happy gathering. Seventy something people all happy, smiling, putting out such loving energy. I feel honored to have been part of it.

Also, a girl from HS who I didn't particularly like was a pleasure to talk with, and she spent a great deal of time sitting and chatting with my parents and sister. My sister is special needs and I'm very protective over her...and seeing this lady sit and chat with her warmed my heart. My parents hadn't seen some of these people for more than 25 years. It was fantastic.

I am glad you had a great time, Perri. That sounds like a wonderful wedding, and weekend.

Poor Rou I ran into a woman working at the grocery store yesterday who looked like that. No fun. I hope you feel some what better today.
