Aw, curlypearl, that must have hurt. Do you think it was an oversight and she maybe thought she had invited you? Many years ago my uncle fell out with both my dad and his other brother over what were honest oversights on both their parts, coincidentally close together unfortunately. He never believed them and continues to have no contact 20 odd years later. Sad, especially now they're all in their 70's.
I'm glad you can focus on the positive things going on in your life. Happy New Year!

I'm having another does PETA not have anything better to do moment. The love hate relationship is inching closer to hate. So, we all know NY has the ball drop. I think a place in Pennsylvania has a Marshmallow Peep Drop. Mt Olive NC has a Pickle drop, and another place in NC has a Possum Drop. Yes, a possum drop. No they don't plunge it to it's death. This has been going on for two decades, Wildlife officials have always been involved, and it is not the only place/state that does a Possum Drop. No, I have never been. We drop nothing, nor do we have any town wide celebrations, just house parties BUT I have heard about it. They actually celebrate the Possum that day (possums are rarely looked at as a good thing), and in 2 decades a possum has NEVER been harmed. A metal box is lowered, very slowly, as they count to ten. No one even knows if the possum is actually in the box or not, but it has possum pic's on it. There is a possum kept in crate. Really, I know how stupid this sounds, but it is no more stupid that peeps, pickles or PETA lobbying against this entire town over this event. According to their "Opossum Expert" the animal will stumble off into the woods when released (they are always released) and die a few days later from possum ptsd. Have you ever met a possum? They're not that scared. They will walk to people, especially if you have cat food. They love you then.

Hell, even if one possum dies a year at the hands of these horrible people (more than that are ran over in a week), someone will eat it. There are those in the lower income bracket who live off of them. Welcome to the woods, now get out.

^ Stop all cars!!!

Hehehe. I actually like possums. I name them, but isht happens. They are large in number here, like ground hogs. $10 says they heard about the Possum Drop when actually investigating something in the area that really needed to be investigated. They went as far with it as they could, and went on to save the yearly possum from possible emotional damage.

Oh CP. That would have really crushed me. Big hugs to you. Not nearly the same but along the same lines, I recently had a friend (obviously not the same as family) have a game night. Advertised on Facebook, invited a bunch of mutual friends, but not me. It was an open thing, I could have just gone but like you, didn't want to go somewhere I wasn't wanted. It may have been an oversight. I don't know. But it hurt. I can't imagine how it would have felt if she were family and on NYE. Big giant hugs to you.

Starmie, thanks for responding so empathetically! It did hurt and I could tell you understood exactly how I felt. I'm going to make an effort not to focus on it and let it destroy my pleasure and happiness.

PerriP, thank you too for your kind words! I'm sorry that you weren't invited to game night - believe me I can totally relate today. Rejection is crushing, just as you said. Big hugs back to you!

Rou, you are bad - I love it! You made me laugh.

Well, a very dear friend sent me a terrific NY's greeting this morning unexpectedly and that made me happy. I'm off to have coffee (my very favorite food).

I really am glad I posted here. I love you guys.

CP, I recently read the book, Loving What Is by Byron Katie. In it she says that it's our thoughts about things that really hold power over us, not the things themselves. (I'm over simplifying). She says there's three types of business:my business, your business, and God's business. And as long as we only concern ourselves with our own business, we feel better. In my example about game night I had to reframe as "it's not my business who she wants to invite". It helped (a little). The book is worth a read although I felt it did minimize some things that I'm not sure should be minimized.

(I'm in no way saying you shouldn't be upset, just in case anyone reads it that way)

PerriP,

You are well known as a troublemaker with cruel intentions, and I think we're ALL offended.

Just kidding (of course)!

Happy New Year, Nice Lady,
C.

No. Just no. I don't want to.

Why is there always a chance of snow when I go back to work? I'm going to have to get up early tomorrow, finish getting my stuff packed, load the car and get ready for work. There is a chance I may not be able to drive my car back up the mountain until late next week, depending on how things go, and I work all 3 of the days with snow chances. Fun.

At least I have travel sized everything and can leave a bunch of stuff in the car with no worries.

I'm having a brain fart. What's the name of the website where you can search for things to do in a city?

TIA

I keep feeling like it's the weekend. Actually Sunday rather than Wednesday. We were out of all hand soap in the office and I went to a store to buy some rather than finding and asking housekeeping. No biggie. I hate their hand soap and we needed dish washing liquid anyway.

Hope I can nap tonight. I need to get up early.

I need to talk to my friend and see whats up with her ex and father of her children. He has called my office 3 times tonight, seemed out of it, didn't even know his own address, and is hanging out with people 25 years younger than him. They are always in trouble, and he just got things cleared up after several years of being in trouble. Not good. His son is all to hell. He needs to pull it and keep it together. I've been friends with him since I was 12 and he was 14, but I can't even talk to him anymore w/o wanting to beat the crap out of him. He threw so much away.

Wait, are you looking for a class? There's one on Superior, right near 90W. I've heard good things about it.
