Say It. I Dare You.

Idk if anything is more annoying than people when it snows. 2 minutes after it first started, long before it was sticking, people started calling. How are the roads? It's finally starting to lay now and the phones are ringing off the hook. The roads are getting slick here, here, here, here and here. Yeah, believe it or not that is expected when it snows. DOT prepares for this and already has trucks out. I was just talking to someone who lives 3 hours from here and it is slick where they live. And why do I care? Tell them to call their road crew. The flakes come in and the brain blows out.

When I hear terms like "hipster" I think, who told cliques they could leave high school??

I've been waiting for it. Someone always goes into labor during the first snow where the roads get bad, waits until the last minute to head to the hospital, and gets stuck. It never fails. Not the best situation to be in.

ETA: But I still never get to deliver a baby over the phone, and I want to more than anything. But I'll still trade that for mom and baby headed safely to the hospital in 8 degree weather with wind chill

I had a friend who delivered in the bathroom at her house. Not because of the weather, but because the baby came so fast
^ That happens. Typically it takes a first time mom a little longer, but that is not always the case. My ex SIL delivered her first in 20 minutes and the second in 15. Crazy!

I will never forget my first year on the job. We had over a foot of snow and a woman was delivering at house way up in the woods. It was her 3rd. EMS and Rescue just made it to her, with 4 whlrs, as the baby was starting to crown. They do love to make a dramatic entrance, when possible.

I hope people are done wrecking tonight. The wind has been blowing so hard that not much snow has stuck. We just have a dusting and those not familiar with the area are flying down the road. It's a solid sheet of ice. Everything thing that hit it quickly froze. I think we have had 30 some wrecks.

Scrills, I'd love to join you but I'm afraid I'd embarrass you too much - I haven't an artistic bone in my body!

Ikea, now that's a different matter.

I hate hiccups.

Gah it is burn your lungs cold!!! Feels like 2 degrees, literally w/ wind chill. I've been warming my car on and off though the night so nothing will freeze. I'm expecting wrecks to start again at any moment. I'm seeing way too many fast moving headlights, in the distance, on the highway.

That and several, "how are the roads?" "Has school been cancelled?" Calls.

Who buys brain tissue samples on eBay? I just saw a crazy story about a 21 year old in Indiana (I think that is what they said) stealing brains from a museum and selling them on eBay. The samples are from autopsy patients in the late 1800's-1940. The buyer became suspicious about where the seller was getting the samples.

I am personally very suspicious of both.

How do you think that conversation with authorities went? I've been buying brains on eBay and they are stale and moldy. Even a nice Chianti didn't help. I am now concerned about where the samples are coming from.

It would not surprise me. People report their drug dealers for selling them bad *insert several options here*.

Fifi, I PROMISE if I ever find myself in labor I'll call you and you can talk me through it.
So if they cancel work for non essential personnel during a blizzard then essential personnel should get an extra day off in the summer.

yesterday i got to work almost half an hour early.

evil co-worker was 20 minutes late and the other co-worker was 40 minutes late.

*sigh*

other co-worker makes more money than me and plays Candy Crush on her phone and mahjongg on her computer most of the day - every day.

The other night, I woke up to a loud noise. I thought the roof has caved in or something. I convince myself I was imaging things

Last night, 5am, it happened again. This time it lasted for a long time. I was like the house was trembling. I finally figured out that it was perfect neighbor working on their perfect yard. They were using their new perfect snowblower and throwing the snow at my house. Grrrrrrrrr. Now, I guess I have to say something.

Wow! Cool!^

Let me know if you need writing help (not that there's anything wrong with yours, of course.)

Okay! The driveway, sidewalk, and path to the kitty shed have been shoveled. Dogs have been aired, teased, played with, and scolded when necessary. Take that, you lazy neighbors with your plow tractors, which admittedly make life easier, but do nothing for your health. Hah!

Oh, and Scrills, only a lunatic uses a snowblower in the middle of the night, unless she/he has a midnight work shift. What a nut you have for a neighbor.

YES!!!! I would love help writing it. I've been working on it and there is a page or two that def needs some helps. Creating a storyline from the pictures I have (so I can keep this a secret) is hard work!!!

These people are obsessed with keeping their yard perfect. In fact, they just started up the snow blowing again. After that, I am sure they will shovel how they always do, with two shovels side by side.

The lead partner in my firm brought his over-indulged five year old granddaughter to work today. She's running from office to office distracting people but no one feels comfortable enough to ignore her except me. I'm not a babysitter.

I've been off work for two weeks. I go back Monday. Today is the day I built into the schedule where I don't have to leave the house at all. No errands. No appointments. No commitments. Part of me is loving the day. Another part of me is slightly stir crazy. But I know if I go out and about I'll miss having had a day to do nothing.

It is gorgeous today. Mid to high 50s. Blue blue blue sky. Nice breeze. Fin and I have gone on several walks (I don't count that as leaving the house because it's something that has to be done)

I just made it home, and it feels good to be back. All I want in life right now is a shower.
