I still feel like crap. I've slept most of the day. I went to a baby shower for 2 hours or so and I'm back in bed. Alarm set for 415 for back to work and I'm feeling exceptionally whingey (spelling? ) I have to give 4 training sessions this week so need to be. ..not as I am. I'm going to sleep soon (it's 630). Hoping the morning feels much better.

That's what I thought, other than the warmer. Snow was supposed to move into my area around 3am. I got up at 5am... Nothing! Since then the temps have been dropping, flurries have been falling and now it's starting to stick. Blah! Hope it goes away soon. We don't even have a storm system over us. It's to the North but we have the outskirts of the cloud cover.

So glad I stuck insulated underwear bottoms in my bag this morning. It will drop down to 18 today and after sunset drop down to -4.

pretty sure it's snowing by now for our miss ninja and scrills!

i had to wade through knee-deep snow to get out to the street where my co-worker was picking me up.

there are blizzard warnings all around us - we are waiting to hear from our courthouses about delays and cancellations....

and there's a wind chill warning and flash freeze warning here - oh joy, oh bliss!

^ Stay warm, Rou! I'm glad the bulk of the snow missed us. It's more the cold that I am worried about. 40 mph wind headed this way and the wind chill will be anywhere from 15 to 30 below, depending on elevation.

I keep thinking about the people who live below my Aunt. They are in a 30 year old camper that is falling apart, and have a small baby. They are going to be miserable tonight.

I am laughing at my co worker. We are watching Food Network and he was yelling at Bobby Flay. "Where'd you get that Cherokee Purple tomato and those Creasy Greens?" He was using watercress rather than land-cress/creasy greens, but basically same difference. They grow wild here and come up at the same time as ramps. They were usually served together by the old timers (along with fried potato's or eggs), but people came and coveted the ramps and they were hard to find for several years. Cherokee purples are common as well. Now I want one. Not good for canning, but the lower acid makes it delicious in several dishes.

It must be reflection day. We were talking about common foods from our and our parents childhood and then my boss comes in and we start talking about curing hogs, rendering lard, and making cracklin' cornbread. That led to a disgusting conversation about almost all the parts not going to waste. BUT we then redeemed the conversation with tal of homemade hominy using wood ash or lye.

Well, I'm pleased (if not a little surprised) to say that the trap worked - teeny, tiny little mouse in it by morning. My SO was heading off the next day to a cycling thing so took it with him and released it in a vineyard (not entirely sure why a vineyard but there you go!). Son wanted to keep it as a pet - he used to have mice when he was younger but he's 19 now and really should know better than to keep wild mice. He's always had a soft spot where animals are concerned and has recently become vegetarian.

Perri - I hope you're feeling better, runny noses are the pits, I invariably end up with a coldsore from broken skin when my hayfever or a cold hits.

Saw the snow on TV here - hope you're all staying warm and safe.

the good news is that when I mentioned our training sessions to my boss this morning I was met with a confused look and, "oh yeah, I cancelled those"

thank goodness.

I'm feeling better than I did, thank you all for the curly vibes. I'd still like to be in bed, and my boss has told me a few times to go home - I may leave a bit early and take a long nap this afternoon. Sleeping seems to really help.

We were COLD (for us) this morning, wind chill of 17. Even Fin walked super fast on his walk (and he tends to favor a dropping temp). It's the coldest morning in 20 years for Houston and tomorrow will be colder. Of course, we'll be in the high 60s by the end of the week.

It is the wind that gets you. It's dropped to 20 here, but feels like 4 with the WC. It will be 10, feels like a freezer by the time I get off work. Tonight will possibly be the coldest night we have had since 1986.

I can not stop laughing at my friend. 2 days ago he was hell bent on calling out of work tomorrow and wednesday because of the snow and cold. He woke up today, saw no snow on the ground, drove over and found out they are closing the restaurant tomorrow due to the sub zero temps. Now he is pissed off that they are closed because he needs money and has to work. Lol. He used to b**ch non stop about their 3 week vacation around the holidays. His former employers always traveled and shut the place down. It left him broke, they didn't need 3 weeks, etc. Then they reduced it to 2 weeks and he threw a fit because they needed those 3 weeks to relax. I'm always yelling... Hooker, you can't relax!!

Happy you caught the mice. I hate those suckers. My first couple years living here, I would get one per winter

PerriP, I hope you feel better soon

Ninja, do I need to drive out there and punch somebody for you?

Are you (ohioans) working today and tomorrow? Or staying home?

I need to take a bath in Downey. The static in my hair is psychotic.

I know my co workers mom and dad were glad to get out of Ohio this morning. He is a long distance truck driver and his wife often goes with him. They had to go to Ohio yesterday and they called my co worker when they got up and said the snow had not started yet. They bolted. Idk where they will be going today. I'd be curled up in a motel rather than sleeping in the cab of a truck.

Everyone be safe tonight and tomorrow. Stay toasty!!

i will now attempt to go home in the insanity left by heavy snowfall and wild winds.

it's -15C or 5F outside with a wind chill of -26C/-15F!
