Say It. I Dare You.

I've entered into a time a suck of past figure skating performances. I forgot how much I loved Nicole Bobek. I always thought she was so much better than Michelle Kwan (who was undeniably good), but her struggle with drug addiction showed through out her career. I also forgot how harsh *make that announcers rather that judges* were on her. I watched a couple of comps and they... "What is wrong with her! What is wrong with you?!?? No focus! Falling apart!" Just screaming and sounding like they were going to pop a vein. Then Michelle would come on and it was, "Such a lovely girl. So put together. So perfect. The kind of daughter any man would be proud to have. Such a MORE DESERVING role model for our children".
They were not subtle in the slightest. Anywho...

^ FYI on that... Good for Bobek! She is sober and in 2012 worked with an old coach and did shows on ice. Meth is one of substances she had a problem with. The hardest drug to kick and remain free from. Her career was rather short. The videos I posted were 95 & 97 (when she was 18 and 20). She was done by 99, after several injuries and coaches. It's good she is back free skating and enjoying it. I would have loved to see her if she would have been 100% and followed through. She inspired a young teenage Michelle and several others. She made spirals popular.

Sometimes, this job gets on my nerves. I am really thankful I have a job, but some of my coworkers bring out the worst in me.

I would have loved to sleep a little longer. Especially after my late night research. I swear I could write a term paper on some of these topics BUT alas, I was woken up by 3 kids bringing gifts of macaroni art. Oh well. I need to wake up and get to it. I would like to clean my house one more time, just in case. Our snow forecast keeps changing for the worse, and I am getting a little worried. I have backup heat situation going on that is very iffy and not much hope of getting it sorted out before heavy wet snow comes in.

Hope you hear back from them soon, Rou. Luckily the heat pump I use is running well. Unfortunately no gas truck can get up my road and my tank is very low. My kerosene heater has died too and 8-10 inches of heavy wet snow approaches. I'm so ready for this to go away.

ETA: Should I even bring up the bill increase? Everyone I know with a heat pump had their systems run on the auxiliary heat strips numerous times this winter, because there was not enough warmth in the air to circulate. It double the bill, and on top of the power co's normal winter increase... Not pretty. $300-$400 a month. People have been lined up seeking assistance.

For all the foxy ladies

Be warned, it is true to life and all that implies (not just sunshine and fox kit rainbows), but the photo's are beautiful. I rather enjoyed it, and appreciated the fact that author warned "a fed fox is a dead fox". Very true. I know people think they are helping, but they are hurting.

*loved the dad telling his kit off. talk back to me! are you crazy?

well, the repair peeps were here for close to 2 hours. they replaced 2 different parts and nothing worked, so i am getting a new furnace tomorrow morning.

i have a space heater running here in the bedroom with the door closed and every blanket in the house piled on the bed. my house is fairly well insulated - even with the heat being off since 10 pm last night, the temperature is still 12C (about 55F). i shouldn't have to worry about the pipes freezing until it gets near 3C.

and it won't be as cold tonight as it was last night.

i decided to go with the high efficiency, Energy Star model and i will get a small rebate on it, that i'll apply to the purchase price.

*sigh*

the joys of home owership!

I am worried about my cat. She is having a hard time meowing and it sounds strange. Just a little squeak. She is breathing okay and her purr sounds normal. Maybe she has a kitty cold or has lost her voice.

Oh gah. One of my moms sister is a train wreck. She normally is, but I fully expect her to a have a break down any day now. She is honestly one of the most self involved women you could ever meet in your life. She always have been. She's often not aware of reality because she can't really see past herself. Her husband was just diagnosed with an illness. He is a very private person. He asked her not to tell to anyone, and he only plans on telling one person other than her and their children. *I think that will change after he has time to process* She immediately picked up the phone and called all 7 of her siblings. One of whom is the mouth of the south, and absolutely obsessed with finding out gossip about illnesses and deaths and spreading all in the name of prayer. Don't get me wrong. She will do that and she will put people on prayer lists but mostly she is morbidly nosey. She's the one that calls half the county and tells them who just just died, most the time before all the family even knows. So, my mom spent a long time on the phone with her sister who has the sick husband, trying to calm her down. She is out of her mind, yelling at her husband to redo their kitchen before he dies, dragging him to Lowe's and Home Depot, and not giving him a moments peace. It's all... You've always taken care of me, how dare you do this to me. After she hangs up with her blabber mouths calls and is upset that she can't spread the gossip and is telling my mom she is going to do it anyway. My poor mom was exhausted, and upset. I can't even begin to imagine how my Uncle feels rights now. I hope my aunt pulls it together but I already know it will not happen.

As much as my nosey Aunt goes to church, you would think that she would have figured out that you can ask people to pray without divulging name/dob & ssn. You can leave it at man who was just diagnosed with an illness. Sadly for my uncle, everyone will know in no time.
