I had to take a few pic's when I walked around outside today. I do love living in mountains. They have many names besides the Appalachians, and on days like today it's easy to see why they are called The Blue Ridge Mountains. I love it when the blue is this bright, and when they put the smoke in The Smokies.

I did not get up early enough to catch the mist and fog when it looked like little puffs of smoke billowing all over the mountains, but I did catch it when all had settled in the valleys. I love this too. It always reminds me of a large body of water. I want to run and jump in it, but I would fall to my death so that's not happening.

Sigh, my poor work-mate. Her daughter-in-law was diagnosed earlier this week with breast cancer, Thursday she went off for all sorts of scans and Friday got the results that show she has what looks like metastases in her lung and liver. She's just flown interstate to tell her parents and at some point will have to try and explain it to her three kids - 9,7 and 3. Just awful.

And I'm pissed off at my hot flushes. Not much to worry about in the grand scheme of things.
3b in South Australia.
I just want to complain. I am in Vegas with my husband and we bought 250 dollar tickets to a show. Well, wouldn't you know I get the stomach bug and fever of 103.

We go home early tomorrow. So much for a weekend away.

They Lard. I hate the all too common (not really a) rationalization that someone who says "My friend, who is gay" or "My gay friend" is automatically homophobic. I'm a giant, homophobic, gay beard then.

Maybe people should realize that some grew up in a time and place where this was considered a negative statement for completely different reasons AND it is one they refused to shy away from to make people comfortable or avoid #judgement. There is obviously no point in trying to avoid that:

I had a really good time on Sunday nite at the art musuem, well actually both art museums. I think I may even have a new travelling partner. I also ran into an old co-worker (and her identical twin who I'd never met before) and we had a blast!!!!!

The guy who kinda flaked on Friday sorta made up for it on Sunday. I also met up with another guy from online. I was NOT expecting him to be a full 18" taller than me, LOL

The Walking Dead was much better this week.

All and all, after a rough start, it was a decent weekend.

Ok I'm in a week-long training. We have already taken seats & are probably expected to keep them for the duration of the week. The woman next to me is chewing on her cuticle scabs & the r bleeding slightly. She is chewing on them so voraciously, u can hear it. Sounds like she is eating a meal ot chewing gum. And it is literally non-stop. Well, she alternates btwn the cuticle scabs & her nails, which r about half the length of her nailbeds (leaving over 1/4" of raw flesh exposed on each nailbed).

I have posted about my "issues" with this kind of behavior over the years (about other women I worked w who did this). It makes me physically ill.

What can I do? There r no empty seats. I would have to ask to switch w someone.

I can't look away from her bc she is sitting btwn me & the front if the room where the presenter is.

I wonder how many people would think Fascination Street condones violence and abuse toward women now, based on some of the lyrics

Oh it's opening time
Down on Fascination Street
So let's cut the conversation
And get out for a bit
Because I feel it all fading and paling
And I'm begging
To drag you down with me
To kick the last nail in
Yeah! I like you in that
Like I like you to scream
But if you open your mouth
Then I can't be responsible
For quite what goes in
Or to care what comes out
So just pull on your hair
Just pull on your pout
And let's move to the beat
Like we know that it's over
If you slip going under
Slip over my shoulder
So just pull on your face
Just pull on your feet
And let's hit opening time
Down on Fascination Street

So pull on your hair
Pull on your pout
Cut the conversation
Just open your mouth
Pull on your face
Pull on your feet
And let's hit opening time
Down on Fascination Street

Rather than a song written about the history of Bourbon Street (former red light districts, clubs, dancing, the food, drink, general mischief...) and what Robert imagined it to be like based on this history before he took a trip there.

I always liked some theories that it is a song about people who like to be entertained by things that are not the normal. Not quite accurate, but it has it's points.

*Kick the last nail in = a dance. Somewhere I have a list of dances done in Goth Clubs in the early 80's, with instructions on how to do them. When someone sang particular words, they did a dance. There was nail in the coffin, kick the nail, etc. Pretty damn funny. Hands in the hair, hammer with one, kick right leg once, etc...

What? Urrragggh! I am looking at lists of songs that supposedly condone violence against women, and the creators of some of these lists are so moronic. How can you include Nirvana's Rape Me as an offensive song condoning rape while also stating that it IS (and it really is) an Anti-Rape Anthem? And Sarah Machlan's Possession condones violence!?!?! The what the effing what? The lyrics in that song are excerpts from letters a stalker was sending her. He was threatening to rape her. I am sure it was therapeutic for her (but not a therapeutic as when he killed himself) and no she did not need to transform it into a song that was more helpful to other women.

Head Like a Hole by Nine Inch Nails is a BDSM anthem, therefore promoting violence? Apparently this person listened to nothing but the chorus

"bow down before the one you serve.
you're going to get what you deserve."(X2)

The other verses may actually be helpful in understanding the meaning, but no so helpful if you want to keep people in the dark and feed them a lie.

"God money I'll do anything for you.
God money just tell me what you want me to. God money nail me up against the wall. God money don't want everything he wants it all.

[Bridge:]
no you can't take it
no you can't take it
no you can't take that away from me
no you can't take it
no you can't take it
no you can't take that away from me

head like a hole.
black as your soul.
I'd rather die than give you control.
head like a hole.
black as your soul.
I'd rather die than give you control.

[Chorus:]
bow down before the one you serve.
you're going to get what you deserve.
bow down before the one you serve.
you're going to get what you deserve.

God money's not looking for the cure.
God money's not concerned with the sick amongst the pure. God money let's go dancing on the backs of the bruised.
God money's not one to choose

[Bridge]

[Chorus]

[Chorus]

[Bridge]

[Chorus]

you know who you are."

It's a song about corporate greed you ninny! And awesome live. *I really don't know how you get sexual fetish out God Money's not looking for the cure. God Money... Really. It's incredibly obvious that this is a song about those who only worship money, power, and control. Not spanky, spanky.

I also don't get how Sublime's song titled Date Rape promotes Date Rape. I guess it has everything to do with the title and nothing to do with the song. It is about a woman who is a victim of date rape. In the song she is encouraged to step forward and go to the police and the rapist goes to jail. It's meant to be an encouraging song.

It's amazing how many people make judgements based on a word or two, while completely ignoring the rest. *Apparently anything and everything that could possibly be a trigger word should never be said again. Sorry. I do not agree. This is something that happens, and people have every right to write about it. To share experiences. To report it on the news. To get their feelings out if a story about it deeply upset them. To hope their song could encourage or help someone else. To hope it helps them.

Maybe in some lifetime I could see myself in a mountain environment but right now im all beach/coastal.
