I am really struggling with my sewing instructor. She is so negative, doesn't really pay attention to me even though it's one-on-one instruction and I think she purposely made me cut this skirt too big. Sigh. I just wanted to learn how to sew.

I think I'm going to pay the $19.99 for the scription to the burda style instructional videos
Ugh.

Quit bugging me. You've had years to take action. Now all of a sudden it's an emergency. I don't care why.

Leave me in peace to cough and blow my nose.

a) the police officer shot at the courthouse on Friday is out of intensive care and expected to make a full recovery. this is GREAT news!

(as you can imagine, we have a million emails flying around about court security today...)

b) a tweet i saw this morning:

I think the weather gods have lost their sense of direction and can't remember the way north, so they're keeping the heat down here instead of sending it to you. It's forecast to be 36c here today and has been pretty hot the last few days. Like the summer we had wasn't enough, now we seem to be having an Indian one too.

Now I am going to have the doors stuck in my head all day.

I love you, the best. Better than all the rest. That I meet in the summer. Indian Summer.

I am glad to hear the officer is going to make a full recovery, Rou!

Are people really "outraged" about Gwyneth Paltrow's working mom comments? That is all I have heard about today on any news source. I tried to read the working moms rebuttal piece and quickly lost interest. I don't care if you have money and can afford a nanny, if you work 9-5, if you work 12-16 hours during days and nights, or if you have to leave your children for weeks on end to work... None of it easy.

(you should be thankful if you have anything resembling a routine though. i never knew how my swing shift co workers with small children did it. Get home in the morning, lay down for an hour or two, and up with the kids all day or up half the night with the youngest ones when on days)

Now all you hookers shut up! I work so hard, I don't even have time to date

I have daffodils blooming, and I keep meaning to take a picture to post here for all of you, but alas, I have been remiss.

It never fails. Every single time someone walks in here with a list of things for me to do, it gets too busy to do them. Not the easiest task considering we are short a dispatcher. Maybe tomorrow.

I bought some yoga pants on sale last week. Then I got an email saying they were sorry, inventory couldn't keep up during the sale and they didn't have them in stock so the order was cancelled. I replied to them bc I was mad. This was the second time in 2 months this happened with them. They called me today, "we had some cancellations we put some aside for you". I was pleased. Not as pleased as I would have been if they sent them to me for free, but happy enough. (They were on a great sale for $30 instead of $80).

Nope. Shouldn't have tried it. I have been on the phone, non stop, since my last post.

(911 is kind of like that shop you worked in that would be empty for hours, until you tried to clean. You would turn on the vacuum and people would flood in)

I will sing Annie, and move on.

In other ranty news... No, I will not put out an official bolo for a situation that happened in another county, 1-3 days ago, because your friend who works in that county called and gave you a tip that the suspect may be in our county. He should know to call his dispatch and have them send up a formal bolo with all the information. I'll be more than happy to (what I did) make every department sgt. aware of it, over the phone, but I need something more formal to do what you want.

While I am on a jean rant, does anyone remember the hips that used to be sewn into jeans? I had the hardest time in my teen years. *after I grew 4 inches, straight up and down, between 9th & 10th grade. All women jeans made me look like I had giant, flapping, wings growing out of my sides. Skinny pants vanished, and all the jeans had these hips that I did not have. That is why I wore mens jeans (your boyfriends jeans) through several of my high school and early college years.

I hope someone will enjoy these I was looking around at 80's pants trying to find the jeans I am thinking of. You could say mom jeans but they were a different animal. I think they might have been the denim inspiration for Hammer pants, but really it was a template of most "Women's" jeans, and tricky for a large number of people

I found this:

Hehehe. My mom still wears them. I can't get her out of them. I have tried. Still, not the hips I am looking for.

True "Mom Jeans"

Now, lets take a look at Jezebels definition of The Mom Jean in the Spring of 2013

Clearly girls, those are not MJ's. *You have to have the perfect cut that allows a pocket of air to get in there and circulate from the front, to the sides, to the back.* High waist and lighter wash is just that (and PS- High/Mid/Natural and Low waists have been available in some stores for at least 5 years now).

Fifi, the jeans in the first pic, I have to say as a one with curvy hips, thighs and butt, they were needed. I always wore dark wash. The pic on the right is more in keeping with what I wore back then. Light wash are not my cup of tea (really shouldn't be anybody's imho).

The jeans in the second pic, should die an evil, cruel death. I hated them then, and I still do.

The mom jeans now need to have a little more of a more generous cut in the leg and butt for me. They are way more appealing than the mom jeans of old though.

I really do not know how our housekeeper stands it. She is the very best housekeeper we have had in my 10 years at work. She is non stop! She sprays down the buttons on the elevators, door handles, cleans all the trash cans and recycling bins, mops (our office 3x a week), waxes floors, is up on ladders dusting light fixtures... She keeps the building spotless, and is adorable while doing it because she is such a petite little speed ball. We appreciate her so much, and I can not speak for everyone in my office, but at least 2 of the 4 shifts clean up after themselves and take out large amounts of trash over long weekends so she won't have to. We do our best to cut down on her load, and if we notice something overly gross other shifts have left we will put on gloves and clean that too. Luckily it's not that often but we do have one who won't wipe up a drink she spilled or ... Apparently the majority of the Sheriffs Department is like this. They have a different house keeper who has been out sick for a couple weeks. He does have some disorders and is not the best at his job. Taking out the trash and changing toilet paper rolls and paper towels is all he can do. Or all he will do. He panics if asked to do anything else. Now our housekeeper has the main building and theirs to clean. She said it is disgusting, but it does not matter how well you clean it. She spent the last two days getting it spotless. She has to go back this afternoon because she said people will isht all over the bathrooms and smear it on the walls. That's the public restrooms. Nice, considering that these pissed off at the system a*sholes are not affecting anyone but housekeepers who make the lowest salary of any county employee and often have disabilities.

The officers are no picnic either. They apparently do nit clean up spills, someone knocked the shredder over last night, walked through it and left the paper everywhere... They have so many new ones, who knows. I know several on patrol had OCD when I started, but they have moved up to different jobs. Regardless, they need to quit acting like 16 year olds and the general public needs a boot up their butt for not thinking.

My mom wears the ones in the first pic, in a light wash. She finds every other jean uncomfortable, but I keep trying to at least get her in a darker wash. She was a hip mom at one point I have pic's of her in bell bottoms to prove it.

The ones from the SNL skit do need to be killed with fire but I think they are indestructible! I still see them all over the place.

I love some of the curvy fit jeans now. Several come in a good dark to medium wash, have some stretch and give with out losing shape, and leg fit is better.

I usually do a lighter colored jean rather than light wash. I have a grey. I do have some medium light. I don't mind them from time to time with particular outfits but I tend to stick to medium-dark. I think light is cute on kids.

^ I tried a new line of jeans a few years ago and loved them! They have several choices but all would eventually get this weird starburst pulling thing in the crotch. The material would weaken in that area first are created multiple horizontal lines.

It seems like people would have figured that part of the construction out by now.

I had some very pale wash jeans sadly very similar to the ones the woman on the left in the SNL pic is wearing. I loved them at the time but do remember them being rather uncomfortable in the crotch! Oh, the shame. But it was the 80's and we were all doing it then. Thankfully we realised our mistake before all hope was lost!
