While I am on a jean rant, does anyone remember the hips that used to be sewn into jeans? I had the hardest time in my teen years. *after I grew 4 inches, straight up and down, between 9th & 10th grade. All women jeans made me look like I had giant, flapping, wings growing out of my sides. Skinny pants vanished, and all the jeans had these hips that I did not have. That is why I wore mens jeans (your boyfriends jeans) through several of my high school and early college years.

Is that what you are talking about, or something similar? I remember those. What I am talking about was a bit more like this... They were all listed as relaxed fit, but it's a very different cut from the relaxed fit of today. *But I did find them when I looked up baggies

When I hear terms like "hipster" I think, who told cliques they could leave high school??

I had some very pale wash jeans sadly very similar to the ones the woman on the left in the SNL pic is wearing. I loved them at the time but do remember them being rather uncomfortable in the crotch! Oh, the shame. But it was the 80's and we were all doing it then. Thankfully we realised our mistake before all hope was lost!

The more I think about it... I think a lot of jean designers were high in the 80's. They did make some of the least flattering pants in the world. One thing I do miss is the sizing. I loved it when clothes were 5/6. 7/8. 9/10. I wore a 5/6 or 7/8 depending on the brand and cut. Basically the same thing I wear now. I can not recall seeing a size 0 at that point. I don't even remember a 3/4.

Yes. I remember wearing ones similar to the first picture but it had 2 thin belts on the waist. They were a dark jean. I never cared for the baggies. They really did not work on me, but I loved Hammer pants. I had several different pairs guaranteed to put your eyes out. Bright yellow with red and cobalt blue designs. Lol.

I know, Rou! PS... It's 80 degrees here today Beautiful!

I finally had a chance to finish my side project today. I am glad that is over with. Hopefully people will leave us alone to actually do our jobs now. It's been crazy the past 2 days. I keep getting very lonely elderly people who just want to talk. Unfortunately I do not have time to talk when they call. One is starting to get a little frustrating, though. She just changed nursing homes after some drama and she wants to yell about that. Does not want officers to come or call, does not to make a report, etc. She just wants us to call her old nursing home and tell them to quit running their mouths about her.

Ohlaw

I wonder if the staff at nursing homes in my area still do fun activities with the residents. It seems like we get more lonely calls than we used to. We have always gotten calls from those with dementia who think someone is stealing everything and out to get them. I just don't know how involved employees are anymore or if they have changed protocols. 3 women in my office are CNA's and have worked in nursing homes in the past. They always scheduled fun days for the women. If there is one thing to know about the older generations, past and current, it's that women want their hair done! These are ladies who had 1 or more hair appointments a week, every week. Set up a salon day, wash their hair, do a roller set and ask if they want their nails done and they will be happy as larks! I have a feeling that does not happen much anymore. When our last senior that we called every morning went down hill and was places in a nursing home, my whole office called several times to check on her. We kept asking us to please let us know if she needed something. We never heard a word, a few of my co workers went to visit her and found out she had been in the same t shirt and bathrobe she was picked up by EMS in, almost 2 weeks earlier. We were livid. We got clothes for her from family members closets and did her hair. She had no family here. They had all passed away. We were it, and we loved her. She was sweet and hell on wheels at the same time. She was known to stab a man or two in her in her day if he tried to steal from her or anything else. Nothing fatal but enough to get her point across. Lol. Anyway, I know churches still bring youth groups in to sing. Children are another thing that keeps them happy. The men are content if you play games or just listen to stories. It makes a difference.

My contribution to the baggies convo

Lyrics from The walk (the time) as it won't stop playing in my head

Who me? I wear baggies, zip, snap, and drop
Easy access baby
Yes, before you get a chance to holler stop
Besides, Rollo likes his freedom
Ain't nothin' like a fresh pair of baggies
Now I know that's right

I don't think jazz shoes caught on where I live. I can't remember anyone wearing them. Plain white Ked's were more of a trend here.

Good job!

(Really good job. My first CPR call was my Great Aunt who had just had a major operation and fresh stitches down her chest, and my cousins husband who had the stomach flu was doing CPR. Never forget it. What kind of hell is this?)

I'm still jelly of their set up. I would love to have a training center that new employees spent a couple months in before they came into the center. No funding for that in rural areas, though!

I just got some blood results back and I'm happy but extremely p*ssed with the attitude of 2 male family doctors.

I'm going to talk to a female one next week and I will mention her colleagues ignorant and racist attitudes.

If it wasn't for 3 female practitioners including a student I would have still be extremely sick with broken bones to boot.
My sister is ALWAYS late.

She's picking me up Saturday and night and asked what time she should be here. I told her an hour before she needed to be in hopes she gets here on time.

I won't even be home yet if she shows when I asked her to and I'm feeling guilty. But the chances are so little that she'll actually show up on time...

Poor babies. I tuned into my local news for a moment this morning and saw a story about a horrible wreck near Boone (I think they said Boone). The car flipped, and a baby who was not properly secured in a car seat was ejected through the window and flung into a briar patch. My heart stopped when they showed pictures of the rescuers trying to get the little guy (6 mo old or so) out. I know that was hard on everyone. He is still in the hospital but will hopefully be okay.

Then I watch a bit of GMA this morning and see stories about razor blades being glued and taped all over playgrounds in a few different states. Wtf? And why are they calling it a "prank". Pranks do not hurt anyone. Pranks are teasing. Putting numerous straight edge razor blades in locations where children will easily cut themselves is something completely different.

After those horrible stories... Do they eyes on your children's cereal boxes cause them to connect with the character on the box and have urges to eat the cereal? Oh please and stfu! Unless children are buying their own cereal, I think they're okay. PS- This is based on studies done with college students. Lol.

Other than that it's 54 degrees this morning and even though it's supposed to rain, I am happy! No coat required. Just a light sweater.

I can already tell it is going to be one of those days. Why not, it's been one of those weeks. I just need to ask for strength not to yell at people I've already had more, "My son/daughter lives in another county and just called me because he/she needs officers/ems to go check on his/her spouse at their home." calls than I can count. Congratulations on raising a person who can not call for help themselves, and extended the response time to their spouse in need by several minutes.

*On top of our already explosive phones, another agency just called saying their phone systems are down so we need to take their calls today, get all the info, and call them on their cells. It would be one thing if this was another 911 center. They can transfer their calls to us, and we have to do that for each other from time to time but this is the animal shelter. Sorry but I don't give a isht unless it's an animal bite or a bad situation. That's all I am paid to give a isht about, after hours and on weekends. I can't field questions about puppies and kitties in the middle of heart attacks and suicides. I am sure we will get a ton of calls though. Just like everyone else they have our nbr listed on their answering machine.

Friday's shooting is causing people to go berserkers all over the place - especially in our smaller court locations without metal detectors.

and there have been a number of anonymous phone calls and emails to the media - including one that forwarded an internal email asking people to NOT talk to the media - especially those who need to be interviewed by police in connection with the incident.

*sigh*
