You know what? I give up. I beg and beg and get E. involved and then you give me something to do. And that's after I waste an entire day with nothing to do.

This can't continue.

I almost walked out on my job today. First, they want me to mop up water in the basement if it gets bad. Fine, I understand that you may need help with this. Second, they want me to power wash the porch to get rid of the salt.Third, they want me to pick up trash outside and make sure everything is clean. Fourth, I'm the only one not at the training today and they want me to sit in the dark to save on electricity. By myself. In the dark. In a house. I don't feel comfortable with that. Also, I'm not a groundskeeper or maintenance man. You want me to stand in water in my dress shoes? I'm sorry, I don't see that happening. And how am I supposed to answer the phones and respond to requests while doing all of this. I'm only one person!

grrrrr.... i made the new boss a hotel reservation for Monday night for a hotel that is literally AROUND THE CORNER from the courthouse where she has her meetings all day Monday and Tuesday. this hotel is on our approved list and i got her an upgraded room with breakfast included.

the people at the other courthouse are freaking out because both the courthouse and hotel aren't in the best part of the city, so they want me to book her at the only other downtown hotel - which still isn't in a good part of town, but is 5 blocks away from them.

sure, i want her to walk a longer distance in a not-so-good part of town....

When I hear terms like "hipster" I think, who told cliques they could leave high school??

Nah. I get them for free all day long Siiiiiiiiiiigghhhh! I'm sure the guy walking out of jail just thought I was rude. I was trying to type the above msg when he asked to use my phone. I abruptly said NO! I wasn't even looking up or at him. I normally call for people (I find it ishty that the jail won't therefore leaving people outside to get asked for phone calls) but I was on my way back in from my break and did not have time. Oh well. If he was who I think he was, he needs to walk away. He has not been very nice to people.

1 more hour. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!! It has been another day of fires (of the structure and raging firest variety), domestics, bad wrecks, bad medical calls and now a search.

It's here! My week off is here! I was ready to climb the walls. Only one more short staffed stretch and then we will be back to our regular crew. One co worker has been out for over 2 months. She should have been back by now but she coughed while sleeping, popped one of her internal stitches, and ended up with an infection that almost reached sepsis. 4 days in the hospital on 3 IV antibiotics. :-/

Now I am ready to kick back and continue laughing at people commenting about the Georgia father who moved his daughters bedroom outside because she refused to clean it. "This is child abuse!" ETA (because my app is crazy and didn't post the rest of my comment). I could tell those people stories of children living in homes with 3 inches of mold on every surface, no food in the house, sleeping on floors covered in animal urine. That is abuse. Showing your daughter that you mean what you say, and helping her get off her typical passive aggressive teenage butt (and painting her bedroom & furniture so she feels better about her room in the process) is no where near it. People are so funny. Mental anguish! Duress! Broken trust forever! Good Gawd. They are the ones in need of parenting classes. This is one of my favorites so far.

"My mom did something similar to me while I was gone one afternoon. My dad and brother knew I'd leave if I came home to find my things on the back yard and gathered them up and put them back. I didn't know about it for years. Today it's an inside family joke, but my dad made the right decision as now he and my mother have reached the age where they need assistance with living and are moving in with me. Had I come home to find my things on the yard, my trust would have been broken forever and I'd have been gone. Fortunately, I have a wonderful, trusting relationship with my parents and I'm looking forward to caring for them for the rest of their lives."

It sounds like her parents did a great job raising a kind and forgiving woman with a level head on her shoulders. I believe I would be booking my room at the old folks home, asap!

I hope my cousin decides to take the job she just told me about. She is a teacher. 8th grade math and science to be precise. She loves it. Her face lights up when she talks about her students but over the past few years it has become almost intolerable thanks to zero tolerance. Some of the things she has to discipline he students for makes her sick. Not only that, but it is becoming an increasingly hostile environment. One of her co workers was almost fired recently after a student created a Facebook account in his name, using a picture of him, and loaded it full of horrible posts. The teachers at her school have now been told to set up FB accounts so this will not happen to anyone else. Add Governor McMoron's total annihilation of education in NC, and it's really not the best time to be a teacher here.

She was offered her current dream job a few months ago. Around the same time her fathers dementia worsened, he started sun downing, becoming violent, was kicked out of an adult day care program, and heavily sedated. She had to turn it down. She has been given another crack at a great job that is in education but not in the classroom. She feels sick every time she thinks of turning it down. I know she does not want to put my Uncle in a home. It's been good for him to be around his daughter and 9 year old grandson, but things have taken a turn for the worse. He needs constant care and she can not continue provide it. He has to remain so heavily medicated that he hardly even speaks now. At 47 she can afford to pass up a dream job twice, either. It's rare to get a second chance.

She has a hard decision to make.

That moment when you jump out of bed, stumble around, make coffee, sit down and sip, look at the clock and realize your alarm did not go off.

It must have been in my dreams, but what wasn't? I was on some kind of strange loop that involved weird calls from the beyond and a box of baby skunks.

I have got to get up and get in the shower. I got sucked into Trouble with the Curve, and could not stop laughing during the cloggin' scene in NC. "Clogging?" "Clogging/Cloggin'. It's a mountain dance. No?" "You'd get locked up in a asylum if you did that where I live". Lol. Memories. Mountain kids are or at least were taught to clog at a young age. We did square dancing and clogging in gym class. My elementary school even had a team at one point. Most schools did and they would compete. I have pictures from the team when my brothers were on it in the late 70's. It's the most fantastic thing. Bell bottom jeans, dark blue butter fly collar shirts with small red, yellow and orange flowers on them, black clogging (like tap/jazz) shoes, a mix of long hair and afros on the girls and guys. Brilliant! One of my favorite school pictures, ever. *It's a wonderful contrast to the typical overhauls and corn cob pipe image, which is/was typical dress for many. That and it is very Saturday Night Fever Hoedown, but still...* Anywho, I always loved doing square dancing and clogging in PE. It is a great deal of fun, and our gym teacher (my cousin) had a lisp so hearing him yell "Wagon Wheel, Spin!" was hysterical. It was also the most dreaded part of the hour. You kept looking over your shoulder because eventually you would have to spin backwards to...

One other fairly cool thing on that note. I remembered reading a bit about the history of the dances done here. After people started getting DNA tests, it made a great deal of sense. Clogging/Square Dancing/Jig/Old reel/schottische... All dances that supposedly originated in Bohemia. (A bit from Wikipedia...

In Argentina, the schottische was introduced by Volga German immigrants (now usually called "chotis") and also evolved and mixed into Chamamé, an Argentine folk music genre.

In Bohemia, the dance was also known as the "Polka Tremblante".

Main article: Xote
In Brazil, the xote has largely developed in the north-eastern area, specially the Sertão, where it has created variations such as baião and arrasta-pé, which are usually grouped in the forró denomination. All of these rhythms are typically danced in pairs, being xote the slower and simpler style of dancing, in which the couple alternate left-left-hop-right-right-hop steps.

In Finland, the dance is generally known as a jenkka. In general, the Finnish jenkka is faster in tempo than the Norwegian "rheinlender" and Swedish "schottis".

The "schottish Espagnole" or Spanish Schottische, also known as the "Seven Step" gained popularity in France in the early 1900s.

Germans refer to the dance as a Schottisch, which means Scottish.

A dozen of variations are known, for one or more couples, some free, some in fixed coreographies, and the original name became "sciortis" in Tuscany, "sciotzè" in southern Italy, "sòtis" in Romagna.

In the folk music of Ireland, a schottische is closely related to the highland tune type, though possessing a higher proportions of quarter notes.[1]

In Norway, the dance is called a "reinlender". The name may suggest the idea of an origin in the area of the Rhine – meaning that it could be from Germany or Bohemia. The name was known as "Rheinländer (de)" in Bavaria.

In Portugal, a form of schottische called xoutiça or xote has become heavily standardized for folklore displays. The pairs in groups of four, six or eight, form a circle and dance embraced all together. The circle starts to rotate until a moment when the pairs pass, this is, the pairs that are opposite each other switch places crossing each other in the centre of the circle. They continue to pass successively two by two, all the pairs. After everybody made their pass, they continue to dance by rotating in circle. Further along in the dance, all the pairs will join in the center of the circle to beat the center of the circle with their feet, and continue to dance rotating the circle in the initial position, always for the right side. Bear in mind that all the moves are made always by the pair and never by one of its elements separately, because in the schottiche you can never switch pair.

The Highland Schottische is a combination of the common schottische and the old reel.

This area was settled by Scot/Irish, Volga German/ Finish-Scandinavian/and some French. It was a somewhat common dance of numerous settlers.

Ohmyeffingah! I feel like it's Christmas. I just got back from my Uncle and Aunt (RIP's) soon to be old house. My cousin wanted me to come by and go through some things her mom wanted me to have. We had very similar taste in decorating but she was a little more theme oriented than I am. I go more by colors and feel. She had an absolute ton of stuff. Statues, vases, dishes, etc. I love elephants. I have a large decorative box that has elephant legs. She had a large ceramic elephant plant stand with the most amazing designs all over it. I scooped that up along with a large vase with the same design. Another off white ceramic plant stand with abstract dragons on it. They are hard to see unless you really look at it. The edges are finely lined in a red/orange color. A hope chest, small tables, table runners, decorative pillows... It's all beautiful.

I cant stand my sisters right now. They have been soo disrespectful and mean to me ovr the yrs and I always just take it cuz I do like hurting anyone's feelings. So now Im at a point where I dnt really give a ****. I tired of always being the nice one who always apologizes first evn when its not my fault. They have made me really bitter towards thm. As much as I want our relationship to go bck to the way it was im refuse to b the one to make amends first when I haven't done anything wrong. They will need me before I need thm. As long as I have my hubby and kids im good n thts the truth !! Wheew tht felt good

One of our officers who is a good friend of mine was shot on duty early yesterday morning. He is stable now and will pull through THANKFULLY!!! My coworker has managed to make this all about her and how she came in early to help with the chaos that was an hours long standoff/gun battle with the shooter (who is now VERY dead btw). Im soooo f'n tired of hearing how great she thinks she is. Its a team effort and at the end of the day the only thing that matters is everyone in the field in harms way got to go home. STFU!!!!!
