See? See? See how important creativity is when influencing potential customers?

I learned on and eventually purchased an elna. I like it very much. However, a serger is a great tool, especially if you know you'll use it often.

Have you read reviews about Baby Locks? I'm not familiar with the brand.

I was a fashion show for a friends, and as part of this show he had a student contest and gave away a Baby Lock as the prize. He loves and all i really know is that the name is funny, LOL

I've been trying to read reviews (all good so far) but I want to read up on my exact machine and without a pricelist, I don't know which model I would want.
thanks everyone! i know i do *stellar* work on these things, so it really galled me to be overlooked that way!

My sewing machine broke. So sad.

Now the question is "repair or upgrade".

It's amazing how heavy some of the older machines are. My moms BL weighs a ton, and so does her BL Serger. I could not pick it up as a child, and made my mom nervous when I tried. She has had it for years. I went with her when she bought it and got a little sewing machine for kids that had a plastic wheel you turned on the side. I made Barbie clothes with it. Anywho, it was a more basic serger with less bells and whistles but has lasted beautifully.

(I typed in 1980's BL Serger and there it was

I would trade if I were you, Scrills. It sounds like a better deal.

I understand why you are repairing too, Rou. A lot of the newer sewing machines are not the same.

^ Kind of the cotton-ish material with light stripes? If so, I think I remember those.

I always used scraps of my moms material. She made a lot of clothes when I was little and always had pieces left over. I would make my Barbie a mini mom outfit. Straight gray skirt, black and pink floral blouse. Put her black pumps on and a bag. It all went well with her dark brown curly hair. Disco Barbie had a lot of tube tops to go with her big curly do.
Tube tops were easy to crank out with one hand on the sewing machine, turning the wheel, and one hand guiding the material. Wtf kind of crazy was that sewing machine design. I get that you don't wont to start a kid out full speed, but that was sewing for snails.

At least I am not the only one mad about having to work late so everyone else can go to this completely useless class (I've been ranting in another thread). Housekeeping is very upset. They were not told and it has delayed their entire work night. They can not mop or vacuum until everyone has left. They will not get out of here until midnight now. They are normally told about this in advance. They were not told at all and we did not find out that we had to stay until 8, until 2pm. That's my wonderful supervisor for you. Effing up everything she can. Screw it. Normally when we come in for a class we get to double the time. If it lasts one hour, we put down 2. They do that because you have to come in when you are off. If I am working my normal 12 hours, and then get told I have to stay 2 more hours on top of that, on short notice... I am putting down 4. I'll have to come back in for the second class (same thing, different day, with only two people in it because she forced the other 4 people currently on duty to be at work for 14 hours today when they could have came in for 2 hours when they were off for the second class) and I'll put down 4 then too. She just reworked everyones day at the last minute, and made things incredibly complicated and hard on 6 people just to be her normal pain in the ass.

Shoot me now. You know, I would be happy if we started getting some interesting classes. I am already dreading sitting through this one, whenever it is scheduled. It will be the 8th time I have had it in 10 years. Nothing has changed in that time other than the technology being used making the system obsolete. I've had the same meth lab class 5 times. CPR every 2 years. F**king, throw us a bone! Give me something new. We actually had one interesting class but the instructor challenged my supervisor and told her she had way too many 911 lines coming into the office per employee. She didn't invite him back. She doesn't care about that. I have watched and dealt with her a long time. She likes to cause you stress and inconvenience. It makes her feel like she is actually in charge (we completely ignore a good 87% of everything she says because she has no idea what she is talking about). On the normal day to day basis she does not care about the employees as she should. She does not stand up for us. She does not keep our policies in place and defend our actions (dictated by her) but blames us and changes the polices everytime the wind blows. She can't supervise her way out of a wet paper bag. I've said it before and I will say it again. She goes to church 3+ times a week because she moon walks straight into the flames of hell as soon as she leaves.

And done.

Hmm... How long has it been since kids have had a good music show like American Band Stand, Soul Train, Solid Gold, there was one that came on later at night that played a lot of rock around the same time but i have blanked on the name. Midnight something... Midnight Special!! It ended when I was little. Then you have the ones before all of these that started it all. I can not recall any type of music show that came on early morning, after school or at night in years. They vanished from the regular networks when I was young. I think AB ended just before I started high school. MTV started straying when they introduced The Real World in the early-to mid 90's and they were headed straight to hell in a hand basket by 1998/99. *I know people like to argue that. it started with rap! it started with grunge! No, no one is talking about genre preferences. It's when they really put the breaks on videos and started mainly focusing on other shows. They always had a couple for years but then music television mainly focused on things other than music* The next generation was no longer watching videos like the previous, more into reality programing, and they went with what was selling. That and Piracy did play a part. They showed videos (other than @ 5am, once upon a time. That's when I watch them now) and introduced you to the artists and you would go buy their CD's. Then some 14-15 year olds changed that in the very late 90's. I know some call it the day the music was set free but in a lot of ways it is the day the music died. It caused many people to lose their jobs, that is for sure. Screw some of the controlling big wigs. It was not them I felt for. It was several other people. Anywho, it's a little sad that kids do not have those shows. *If nothing else, it was a fun dance party in your living room.* You get to come home after school and watch Jersey Shore or Judge Judy. Dancing with the Stars or The Bachelor at night. And don't even get me started on Saturday mornings.

Those do look fairly similar, CC. They probably were the same. I remember the Handi Wipes but I also remember some that were white and had different color stripes. They were more fabric like. You could easily sew them.

Trolls. Hehe. I have not seen one of those in years. I had one with bright green hair but I loved my pencil with a troll on top much more. It was fun to watch it's hair flail about as I wrote.

I wonder if the mall still has a Hello Kitty Store. I miss having funny pens.

I need to eat some bananas and drink a ton of water this weekend. My toes keep cramping and having spasms.

My friend just called to "chastise" me because someone asked me about a happy hour I went to. Well she hadn't told her boyfriend that she'd gone to this event and I managed to let it slip

Really, maybe you should have told me that first
