Why are you boycotting all Chinese products, OBB? Just curious.

Heres the gist of it. But im more concerned with the dangerous products and food imported from china. Chemically sprayed vegetables, bleached rotten meat/poultry, toxic painted toys and some that explode sending kids to hospitals and shady business practices that send destitute farmers to bankruptcy. The lack of concern for their neighbors and their own citizens is maddening. I understand that greed is rampant and not situated just in china alone. These criminal acts cannot succeed without the assistance of corrupt locals. But as of right now my ire is aimed at the chinese government.

I have tried to avoid buying items from China for some time, but it is not easy thanks to outsourcing. Add the absolute isht practices with big business here and it can be exhausting. It seems like the vast majority of everything is contaminated, rotten, full of crap, disgusting and meanwhile small farmers get arrested for making cheese out of raw milk. Got to love the powers that be.

Our house keeper She is worried about the upcoming wellness check. It is ridiculous, and honestly fixed. People who have never had High BP in their life are told they have it. Our house keeper is just a little over 5 ft tall and has a 22 inch waist. She wears children's clothes, and she is told every year that she has too much body fat and is over weight. If you blood sugar is still in normal range but getting toward the higher end, they list you as diabetic. They have a habit of measuring the smaller peoples hips and putting it down as their waist size. Then they want you to sign up for all this isht, walk every day and get points for it, etc. Kiss my grits. You are nit even remotely worried about our health.

And its starting to get ugly. VN newspapers say 1 dead and 150 injured. China sources say 21-24 dead and 100s hurt. Both accuse the other of instigating. I happen to live relatively close to the industrial parks. The streets were abuzzed with flag waving protesters. F%&#ing idiots why couldnt they keep the demostrations peaceful. I fear repercussions against Viets working in china. I picked the wrong year to extend my stay an extra three months

I know I have mentioned this before but I can't help laughing when I see a certain lawyer. I met him over 20 years ago. I became friends with is daughter and partied with his wife. They were both from DC, had moved to California for a while, back to DC and settled in NC after they married and he became a lawyer. He still only takes court appointed cases. He used to take eggs, pies, vegetables, tobacco... Whatever for payment from those who could not afford legal fees. He did it until he could no longer feasibly live that way. I was always curious about him because you have to have a pretty good heart to make and keep that goal up as long as you can BUT he is one of the most perplexing people I have ever met. He rarely spoke to his wife. He talked to children a bit more but still not a lot. He talked to me twice. Once he said, "God God! You're running around in your underwear". I will never forget that because it was the first thing he said to me, years after I met him. Close, but no. We were in our bathing suits, running around the neighborhood playing with water guns. Anywho, another time he asked me a question, I answered, his wife tried to join in and he screamed at her to shut up and called her a bunch of names. That has been the extent of our dialogue since 1991. I can't imagine the relationship with his wife was ever the best. He is typically calm, reserved, never drank, and is the most introverted of introverts. One can't get more withdrawn than him. She is beyond extroverted, had not been sober since she was 14, partied incredibly hard, did anything and everything you could think of other than PCP because she saw too many of her friends sent to institutions after trying it in the 60's. AND was still subscribed to the Timothy Leary brand of therapy, several times a year, in her 50's. She could be a lot of fun, but she was also a fire breathing dragon and completely off her rocker. Gone! Other than that she never drove (which is a good thing), raised 3 kids, kept the house spotless and had dinner on the table at 6 pm, sharp. She would wake up and start drinking on Saturdays because they got take out, and every Saturday night she sobbed or tried to fight you. None of that is really funny, but I still think WTH? when I see him and he halfway smiles and nods this stern nod. I have no idea how they got together in the first place, or how they are still together doing the same down to the minute strict routine, day after day.

** Getting away from that house and neighborhood in my early 20's was the best decision I ever made. I still have a lot of fond memories, but that woman hated to be drunk alone and was hell on a bender. She started buying my 6 packs at 17 and I can't say getting me into bars because my ex SIL started that, but she continued. The rest was a long blur fueled by Natural Light bought with change.

I'm going to have to wear a coat tonight. This is both good and bad news. Good because I can leave my sweatshirt on beneath it, and bad because it's mid-May and I shouldn't need a frickin' coat.

That's a common part of ancient Chinese medicine and different than ground up dead baby.

Those chemtrail conspiracy theorists were trying to pass off a very red sunset, coloring the fluffy clouds, as aborted baby blood. :-/ I don't know if people are that disturbed or trying to pull off dead baby jokes on a mass scale.

ETA: But many pills manufactured in China have a industrial gelatin capsule, made from recycled leather, that contains high level of chromium. That's a bit easier to get your hands on than ground up baby.

Is it easier to train one's voice than to learn to play an instrument? Because boy howdy, was the "upper school" band worse than the choir. (with some exceptions, of course.)
