Be thankful it's not your mother. I always felt bad for more than a few people my age, and a bit younger. Their moms would come in at 3am on a school night, drunkity drunk drunk, and turn up the music as loud as it would go. Most of the time I had been at the bar with the mom and was in no better shape myself but I would still try to get them to turn down the music or go hang out on the porch rather than getting into a screaming match with the kids.

I am curious to see how my youngest nephews allergy tests go this week. He has been having a hard time eating for awhile. Apparently food has been getting stuck in his throat for some time. My SIL thought he was eating fast or not chewing carefully. The last time he did it, he had to go the doctor. His throat was swelling shut and he had pieces of chicken lodged in it that they had to remove. The doc believes he has an allergy to something, but has no idea what. His throat was very raw, irritated and they did a few biopsies. They came back fine but now he is scared to eat anything other than Goldfish Crackers. Idk what to think about the allergy assumption. He mainly eats junk and fast food. His parents do not really cook and they buy all frozen, fast or snack foods so if it were chicken fried in peanut oil that caused the problem, it should have done him in a long time ago. He was born with bleeding ulcers so severe that he needed 3 blood transfusions before he was a day old. He also had problems with reflux. I would be tempted to look there first.

I might joke about my DNA glowing in the dark but my SILs takes the cake. It seriously is atomic. My youngest nephews have had so many odd problems that are apparently common in her family.

I am still trying to figure out why fast food workers are asking for $15 an hour. Do I think they deserve a higher wage? Oh God yes. I don't eat a great deal of fast food but would I be willing to pay a dollar or two more so they could have a living wage?? 100% yes. The fast food employees in my county are a mixed bag. It is largely high school and college age kids. You have a few older women/single mothers who do not have degrees and several people on prison work release for not paying child support, others on probation and pedophiles who don't bathe. Now you see why I avoid some fast food places like the plague, aside from bad food. Do I think the majority of people on that list should get a better wage than most with families? No. Most people in my area who have been working a salary job for 15 years don't make $15 an hour so no a high school kid or a 19 year old living at home should not. The single mothers and those who have been working there for years due to no degree/isht luck situation are my only exceptions, though the fathers paying back child support need more money, as long as they are being forced to turn it over.

(I come from a place of knowing too much about people)

Apparently others agree because most polls I come across have 10 to 15% of people saying they agree with the specific $15 an hour request.

I have been reading stories about public outrage (what else?) over particular 911 calls this morning. I listened to a few where the public complained because the dispatcher was asked to say on line but could not. Most of these took place not too long after the kidnapping victims had been discovered in Ohio and people were upset with the dispatcher for not staying on line. Outrage carry over. I don't know how or why people can no longer understand the word triage or call priority. In most of the calls the dispatcher had explained they had a life or death situation going on at the same time. Person with a gun, etc. They had told the callers this while explaining an officer would be on the way as soon as they could possibly break free and also to explain why they could not hold on the line with a caller who was scared but not in immediate danger. That should be a no brainer, but it was not. Off with their heads! Fire this danger to the public!! Someone asked for something and didn't get it!

Welcome to the world.

It honestly makes me think of someone following around a triage nurse during a large emergency, yelling for them to be fired because they quickly passed over the person with 3 broken fingers to take care of the open head wound.

Haha. My co workers are pretty country as it is but one has been on a roll of late. She has started saying several more words very wrong and for some reason her accent has thickened up. She has been big on saying PO-lice and I ain't got no... She has also started saying "testes" when referring to taking multiple tests.

I promise you ain't got no 3 testes.

* I wonder if it is because she spends a lot of time around one particular fire department member who also has a very thick accent and a speech impediment. It's odd to hear a 40 some year old change several patterns of their speech, unless they are Madonna.

Was between 20/20 and 20/25 one day post op.. don't think I'm that good today, have been told that since I was (very) farsighted my vision could fluctuate for over a month before it settles in. My one week post op is Thursday, so we'll see what I test out as then.

Classes start back up in two weeks and I am dreading it. I am absolutely crap at making friends, I'm not a social person. And honestly, I don't really like the people at my college enough to go out of my way to talk to them anyways. Here's to another semester with no friends in any of my classes -clink- (god help me if there are group projects)

I always hated group projects. There's never a balanced workload.

^ Pretty much always the case. I always end up with the bulk of it because like hell I'm gonna trust lazy students with my grade.

It went well, the first day was pretty uncomfortable, very light sensitive, and eyes felt like sandpaper. But they improved quickly! My eye doctor said I'm healing really fast
