Oh Minxy, right back at you.
Btw, I am hoping to get something coming your way soon. I haven't forgotten.
And now for another mini-rant:
Once again, stop telling me of the wonders of keratin and how much "better" it will make my hair. I love my hair, thank you, so I wish you all would stop talking about how it could be improved with that stuff. No, mom, wearing my hair curly isn't about the convenience (although it doesn't hurt), it's about accepting what I have, what I naturally am, and loving it. It's about not subjecting myself to the need to be like everyone else. And yes, it's about accepting that as a Dominican woman, I'm not white, and we all have to do our part in any way we can to stop spreading the message that white is good, white is desirable, white is better. Oh, and quite frankly, my hair is the sexy!
So no, I don't wear my hair natural because it's convenient and just accept it as if I were unhappy with the way it actually looks. Therefore, I am not looking to "improve it".
And for God's sake, don't bring up your need to relax or how great my racist-comment-spewing cousin's hair looks now that it's been treated with keratin, because it is very hard to bite my tongue and not in a million years will you and seemingly most Dominicans analyze these things and realize that we're no whiter than the black people we're made to feel separate from and superior to.
Saria, I love your avatar. I still want to see that movie but I didn't finish the series.

Stupid post-partum hormones. I can't stop crying about stupid stuff.
Post-partum hormones? So you had the baby?
Yup! He was born on 4/22. I posted over in P&P.

I got a nice little whack to my ego yesterday, when I was told by the best friend of my ex that seeing me was his attempt to be more successful with women, instead of always trying for the type above who (and I do quote): "could have anyone, Ninja. You're just not a cover girl like he was used to pursuing."
Gosh, thanks! Heaven knows my ego is in such good shape these days that I f-ing needed to hear that.
(Oh, and he --- the ex--- wants to help me find writing work, but is afraid what his new girlfriend would do, since she's jealous of his past relationships. Nice!)
Just really sad. Sad that I couldn't make you happy (though you sure caused me plenty of pain); sad that you've moved on to a whole new set of problems with another woman (who prevents you from reaching out to me professionally, a slight toward another I would never have demanded from a partner); sad that that happy, risk-taking person I was, the one who always recovered, is gone.
I never that understood that line in E.L., where J. refers to losing a part of her courage. I do now, though.
I observed part of a trial today, for a class. The main charge was criminal assault (beating someone up).
1) It was actually really entertaining, which is disturbing. But the victim wasn't there, and the only witnesses today were police officers. So it wasn't emotional at all. And the entertaining part was the jurisprudence stuff, not the descriptions of the victim's injuries.
2) The defense attorney successfully objected to a witness's use of the word "blood," because this witness never tested the substance to make sure it was blood. So there was a lot of, "There was red liquid on the alleged victim's face." Can anyone explain the point of this? The attorney couldn't plausibly argue that it was fake blood. And beyond that, the defense is arguing that the defendant beat the victim in self-defense.
School teachers should not post information about their students on FB. Even if you don't call them out by name, talking smack about your rowdy students is very unprofessional, IMO. Also, you may want to try spell check, because, well... you're a teacher after all.
I was born to be a pessimist. My blood type is B Negative.
I find it so sweet that you're concerned about spending time with me. You said I've been more than nice concerning everything that's been going on and have wanted to have a weekend where we get to do fun stuff and go out, but we've been stuck at auctions and taking care of other things. And now this weekend we may be traveling to W.Va. to sell your BMW.
And you know what? It's okay. You've been far more concerned than I have. It's not about what we do, it's the fact that I get to be WITH you. All that extra stuff is nice, and it'll happen. You have to remember I'm not like most you've encountered. I take pleasure in simplicities. If I'm not complaining, don't worry! I'll tell you if there's a problem. I know I'll be spoiled [more] in due time. I see a shopping date in our future. LOL!
A wonderful mix of coils, curls, corkscrews, and kinks.
