Awesome. I do not support your rights because of some slogan I'm sure I'd make up if I actually wanted to devote any time to it.
Also it's totally possible to believe that being queer is against your religion, while also supporting queer rights because you believe in separation of religion and state. That's called "tolerance."
PS: You're a bigot.
PPS: Move to Iran. There are no gay people there. (Because the government hangs them.)

You really wanna go there? Seriously?
Cause, you'll get your ass (figuratively) kicked so hard on this board you won't know what happened.
We don't have much room for ignorance and intolerance at NC.

If you were really so tolerant, you'd let people believe what they want.

I don't have to tolerate other people's intolerant actions. (I don't care what opinions they have.) Should I tolerate neo-Nazis, too?
I think I'm fairly open minded, but that doesn't mean I believe in every "miracle" product I see in an infomercial.

You know, I winced when I read that post, and I don't agree, but this thread is about expressing your unpopular opinions, and it's not as if anything is going to change her mind. On the one hand, I get not being able to let slide a comment like that (just as one would confront someone for saying something blatantly racist). On the other hand, it's kind of the point of the thread to let people have their say.

I know that was the original purpose of this thread, but we kind of drifted away from that a few thousand posts ago.
And anyway, I was having my say

I'm lactose intolerant, but damn I love cheese.
Is there an actual way to kick the habit for good? I can't stay bloated for the rest of summer, none of my dresses will look good!

I agree. They are toned, for sure, but I like women's bodies to be less muscular.

True enough. Perhaps I should have just let it slide, considering the thread. But posted anywhere else, Im sure many people would have responded with something similar or worse.
Phoenix - I don't go around telling people what to believe. But it was an offensive post and full of hatred. No, I don't have tolerance for that kind of talk.

Sure, I get that as well. I see how people can draw a parallel between this issue and racism. But they're not the same IMO.
It's not as if AfroKitten said she had any personal feelings about gays or said anything about gays themselves at all. She, presumably, is basing her views on her religious beliefs.
Racism OTOH is usually based on hatred, an intense emotional dislike. It's not generally based on morality or a belief system.
ETA: I don't see AK's post as "full of hatred."

I can understand that view. I guess I see it slightly differently: I get tired of people hiding behind religion as an excuse to be bigoted, racist, sexist, whatever. That kind of view point and talk has too often, in the past, bred hatred and violent and discriminatory actions.
Im not arguing the church's views on homosexuality and racism are the same thing. Im saying that I do not like either kind of intolerance and will speak out against it.
Edit- Not that I meant my original post (on this subject) to come off as overly argumentative or 'threatening' in any way either. I was more saying that the women on these boards have very strong convictions/beliefs on this subject (among others) and will intelligently and often swiftly, cut short that kind of talk.
One of the reasons why I love these boards so much!

I've had a hair colouring accident. I meant to put in Dark Blonde but put on Light Brown. It has come out very dark. I am so goth right now.
