Hair color. Love it or hate it?

Like Tree28Likes

I really thought that a recent thread brought up some interesting conversation. So to address the broader audience, I thought I would start a new topic for all hair colors. Yes a spin-off of a spin off :-)

What is your natural hair color? Love it? Hate it? How do you feel about going grey? Are you plan to dye it or embrace it.

I'm naturally dark brown (color #4). I was so bored with it that I started getting blonde highlights. The blonde wasn't me. The color it always ended up made me feel like my skin, eyes and hair all matched ( i should look for some pics).

then I became obsessed with red hair. My friend has the best red hair and I wanted it. I saw a lady with red hair at the gas station one day. Turned out she works at a salon and the rest was history. I've been red ever since.

As for grey, I don't think I would mind. I think salt and pepper natural hair is beautiful :-)
My only issue with this hair color is that I can't find weave to match, LOL
I love red hair. It is so totally H.O.T!!!

My colouring is wrong not to mention a pretty crazy hair dye allergy or I'd be a ginge in a heartbeat.

I wanted to rock the white hair but it came too oddly. So I did the Stacy London look - foils to give me my natural 3N hair and one strip down the front as a salute to my white side.

My natural color is dark brown and about 20% grey. It is too cool for my yellow skin tone, so I've dyed it since college. I was a red head for 12 years, and also dyed it warm brown and had it heavily highlighted.

I made a terrible blonde. It rally washed me out and made me look tired.

The red was my favorite, and flattered my skin tone and green eyes. People frequently thought it was natural, but it was hard to maintain.

Right now, my hair is warm brown with my grays tinted to look like highlights.

I call my hair Hair Colored Hair. It's so neutral. Over the years, I've gone from a level 7 to a 5.5 or so. I went red in the mid 90s. I have the coloring and family history for it, so it's worked well. I've gone from a youthful, vibrant red, to a darker, auburn sort of red more suited to my age (IMO) and I still like it.

It's brighter in full sunlight.

I'll keep the red. I don't have enough grey or white to worry about, at the moment.

I don't understand why the red-headed thread was closed, even if the op asked for it to be. She doesn't have to participate in it anymore if she doesn't want to. Now, I can't tell y'all about my daughter. There was a lot of useful info I didn't know and will come in handy one day.

My hair is brown and turning grey. At the moment, I don't really care. Actually, it seems to be skipping the grey and just going white.

The kids in my family are all currently going turquoise and green. Not sure how I feel about that

I've hennaed my hair red for years and years. I'm a natural brunette with about 25% gray. I tried growing out my gray, but I just looked "faded" and I didn't like it, so I went back to henna. I'm light-skinned and light-eyed, so I think red goes well with my coloring. I'll keep it until I think it looks too unnatural and then, maybe, I'll go gray.
Aww, thanks.

I'm a natural neutral to cool brown. It looks good on me so why mess with a good thing?

I was red for years and loooved it. I made an excellent redhead.

I do wish green were more professionally acceptable. I rocked green hair. It's the truly perfect color on me.
Ooh. Do you have a pic? I'd love to see green.

I'm still gonna bring her up in here. But I have to go get them off to bed.

In the mean time, has anybody been made fun of for anything about their hair? Curls, color, length? Sometimes my curls were made fun of. But, sometimes, my hair was funny looking.
^^ Texture. I've had people pull be aside and work and tell me that my hair was unprofessional. I've also gotten a lot of flack from my family for my hair being "nappy". I almost hate straightening it because they go on and on and on about how amazing it is when it's straight

Oh, and I've been called militant when I gave a strong opinion

Oh, i do have one cousin that teases me about the color now. It's annoying to get called orange all the time. I never wear red or orange, especially when I know I'm going to see him.

I have mentioned this before but I will do it again. I am a mixed bag. My mom has very dark brown hair that turned black when she was pregnant with me. I came out with a head full of black hair myself which turned to brown, then to a auburn color, red, strawberry blonde, and then blonde. I remained a solid blonde (with hints of strawberry in the sunlight) until my teen years. The under layer started getting darker (really dark brown/almost black), the rest became a dirty blonde, and my sides stayed a light blonde. I still have the over all red tint. I honestly have not seen my full blown natural colors in so long that I can't tell you how I feel about it. I have been a fan of something a little more uniform. I have very fair skin, green eyes, and reds & blonde (have strawberry & call it even) suit me best. I go from auburns to golden blonde, but I have stayed a medium strawberry for some time. It's not too far from a lot of my natural, I can accomplish it with root touch ups and a toner so it's not as harsh.

I am not completely feeling gray just yet. I didn't have gray hairs coming in until my dad died. I am not freaking out about it. They are there, and that's okay. I just have enough colors to contend with as it is.
When I hear terms like "hipster" I think, who told cliques they could leave high school??
