What are some things you want to accomplish by the end of 2015?

Like Tree17Likes

I was going to say the end of this year, but this year is almost over! (Crazy!)

These can be academic goals, personal life goals, improvements within yourself, goals in your hobbies (improve a skill or something), career goals, things you want to do more, etc. Anything. What do you want to have accomplished/changed in your life by the end of 2015?

I love to travel and this helps, but also its good for jobs. French is next. Italian is lovely. I had several Italian roomies when I lived in Europe. Beautiful language.

I'm not finished my bachelors, but that is what we strive for, isnt it? A job we're passionate about that is relevant to our interests. Go for it, girl!

Side note - Meetup.com has meetup groups for tons of things. When I travel and even when I'm home, I like to check to see what meetup groups are around. You can meet people with similar interests, while doing similar things.

@Whimsicurl thanks!

Spanish is a loooooovely language! They speak so fast though, like the Italians lol. I really hope we get to a fluent stage, because that is one of my dreams. I also want to learn Greek and German (Greek will be SO difficult though).

French is a beautiful language too. It's one of my favourites, because everything sound so beautiful. My brother can speak French and it's amazing to hear him!

Thanks for letting me know about Meetup.com I'll check it out.

I want to have more stability in my career, which is tough. I'm trying to build a roster of clients who will get me there, and it's a challenge.

Ooh, I love seeing all the goals/aspirations in this thread!

My goals before the end of 2015:
1. get other teaching gigs to go with my current part-time adjuncting so that I have full time work/paychecks.
2. be in a committed relationship or if not that at least have some very good dates along the way.
3. move into my own place
4. Do a race or two- would love to do a half marathon before then but I know that making that a 10k or less distance would be a healthier goal if I want to do more than one.
5. Continue being an active member of my groups: Beekeeping; Hair meetup, etc.
6. Be a better yogi i.e. longer/better low plank, handstands, hip opening poses.

By the end of the year, I would like to accomplish:
1. The launch of my own business selling handmade accessories. (Shawls, jewelry, beanies, purses, wallets, key chains, and pins. All crochet.)
2. Employed full-time as a qualified mental health professional.
3. Get back in grad school to finish my degree as a professional counselor.

I'm hoping this position will either open doors for better or be enough until something better comes along.

Well since I'm already in a wonderful marriage, have 2 amazing kids, my home is paid for, and my two part-time jobs are going fine (I'm an RN and I have a photography biz)... my goals for the next year are a bit more trivial I guess.

#1 grow out my hair
#2 invest in some deeper, more meaningful friendships
#3 catch up on images of my children and create them another album (with images from the last 2 years)
#3 recover from the health issues I've had and improve my physique... possibly get on stage again (as a figure competitor in bodybuilding competitions).
Get our finances in order so we can move house. My youngest son will finish high school at the end of next year so being close to the school will no longer be an issue and we can hopefully move to where we (or rather I!) would rather be. I hope that things are at least in motion anyway.
3b in South Australia.

I told them in the interview that I don't have a background with children. I prefer not to work with them. My background is Communication, HR, and Adult Education. Four months in, I ask about getting the front desk person (they basically made it seem that I was just filling in until they hired one because this was a brand new location). Here we are, a year later and no. The Director actually asked me to pick up trash and mop the floor. I feel degraded. I've actually had some of the clinicians ask me to get their clients tea and play with them. I don't make enough for this crap. Definitely makes you feel worthless. Especially after having gone through school and earned a degree. My pay sucks too.

I know that feeling as well! I've interviewed for several jobs since last year, and I always get told that I'm a great candidate and that I've impressed them but that I'm either overqualified or not qualified enough (I don't have the experience). It sucks. It's depressing. I'm trying to keep my head up though. It sucks to hear that others are experiencing this too!

1. Be fully commited to a healthier lifestyle! No more late nights, crap food and weight and health induced stress. I want to be back down to my goal weight and more importantly deal with my insulin resistance and PCOS.

2. Submit to an agent and become a represented actor! This means I need to work my ass off to keep training, keep getting footage for my demo-reel and finish my website not to mention my head shots.

3. Have a savings account with money in it. Living where I do it's going to be a long time until I have anywhere near the amount of money for a down payment on a condo, the lowest amount for that here is basically $20000, but you've got to start somewhere.

4. Try to have a better relationship with my family, this one is going to be the hardest and least fun. I haven't talked to the majority of my relatives in years.

@DaniGirl88 Oh, God, that's so horrible. I can't believe how some employers treat people, it's just utterly disrespectful and, like you said, degrading

That whole 'too much experience / not enough experience' is the bane of my existence. And how are you supposed to get experience if nobody will hire you? It's ridiculous and so depressing.

I hope that by the end of 2015 we're both much better off and in jobs where we're appreciated and using our skillset. If not, someone pass the gin!
