a medically supervised withdrawal from a low dose of benzodiazepan? I have taken Clonazepan (m?) for longer than was ideal (again, medically supervised) and am now transitioning off. All the information I've found online cites a negative symptom withdrawal period of up to a year or more!

If anyone has gone through something similar, I would like to hear about your experience. TIA.

eta: I have contacted my doctor as well, and I'm doing fine, but feel uneasy about a long withdrawal.

I'm come off of some things that were not nice, but no experience with this particular medication. Big hugs to you (unless of course you don't want to be touched, in which case, I'll wave from across the room)

please keep us posted

Is your doctor weaning you off or cold turkey? I've been advised not to go cold turkey for some of my more addictive medications. I'm sorry I don't have personal experience with that medication. 😔

Low-poo: Looking for a new one.
Condish: V05 Tea Therapy, Body Shop Banana

PT: My hair needs very little. I use Suave Naturals Coconut when I need a little bit and follow up with a moisturizing conditioner.

Doctor is weaning me off. I tried going cold turkey a few years ago when I was taking a higher dose, but it did not go well. Later I learned it was stupid and dangerous to try.......by which time I had given up and given in. I was able to function with a lower dose afterward, but considering how sick I became, I can't say it was worth it.

OTOH, at least I'm familiar with some of the effects of withdrawal now. I'd been wondering why my eyes were so irritated.......it's the "cold and flu-like" symptom, rearing its head.

I am doing okay, though.

I am glad you are doing okay. I do not have experience with this myself but hear it often from friends coming off different anti depressants and or anxiety medications.

I would go by what I read. Just do as the doc instructs, drink plenty of water and listen to your body. Hopefully you won't have withdrawal symptoms for too long. *My bestie tends to read all the negatives on line and freak himself out a bit more. Everyone is different. No pain, no gain (as they say) but no one needs to do it CT and be on complete misery.
When I hear terms like "hipster" I think, who told cliques they could leave high school??

It took my sister two years to wean of Clonozopam (SP) under her Dr.'s supervision. Go slow!
What was your original dose? I've been on xanax ER for a little over a year and want to try to wean off, but I'm a bit terrified of the side effects. Not surprisingly, one of the side effects of weaning off of either of these meds is increased anxiety. Hopefully learning deep breathing will come in handy!
I don't know that I'll be helpful because I realized I had kind of become a little too dependent on it, but it wasn't something I took every day. Just something that I had become dependent on for a few (maybe up to 6? it kind of blurred together, it may have been less) months (along with another med for fibromyalgia pain). I tried cold turkey and yeah...it got kind of bad. Like irritable felt like I had ants under my skin. I called my doctor and they got me a prescription to help with the withdrawals (NOT benzos) and after about 10 days I was golden.

I do still take something different for anxiety, but we monitor it closely to make sure addiction and dependency doesn't become a problem.

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.

No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.

Of course! I've forgotten to take a dose and feel the withdrawl within hours. It's awful!
Some of the side effects of quitting are weird and annoying (sore eyes), some are surprisingly enjoyable (euphoria!), and some are just gross: intense night sweats that have me spraying my sheets with alcohol every morning.
