I know this is old but did you agree w/ the Elizabeth Lauten that they looked and acted inappropriately at the President's turkey pardon event?

I could see wanting longer hemlines or both having on tights, but that is def not club gear. I kinda feel bad that she was fired

Aren't both girls teenagers now? Find me one who would behave better at such an event and I'll wish these two had smiled. I wouldn't go so far as to say "inappropriate" though.

I do think their skirts were too short. But they were probably behaviing fine. You don't always know how your facial expression reads. And they're just kids...could be a lot worse.

But was that woman crazy??! Why would she read them like that on FB? Did she forget who they were? She is an idiot. What else did she expect to happen? You don't go in on the President's kids like that publicly (and basically on him and his wife, too, indirectly, as parents) and not expect fallout. Dumbass move.

I saw the girls at the live event as it was happening. They behaved fine. It was a silly event...pardoning turkeys for god's sake...so everyone was eyerolling. I thought at the time that their skirts were too short, but Malia was wearing tights, so she was not as exposed as Sasha. Still...not disasterously short, just a bit short for my comfort level as a mom. Certainly not "club" wear. The woman who wrote that FB post was a mean-spirited hater. She was trying to slut-shame them. She deserved to be fired.

Club gear? They were wearing combat boots. That is fairly close to some of the outfits I wore in high school. They look like average teens being forced to do something they care nothing about. Most of us have been there. Do I have to?

I do hate that the woman got fired for stating an opinion that many others were obviously thinking themselves. If we are going to start rushing to judgement over that, lets fire the pap's that stalk peoples kids, who often don't have a security detail, and scare them 24-7.

*I know I heard someone say the Presidents children were off limits and everyone should know this. Since when? I personally don't care for people going after someones kids but I have many memories of First Childrens pictures being flashed on the screem with complaints and Saturday Night Live skits dealing with everything from the Presidents kids to their cats.
When I hear terms like "hipster" I think, who told cliques they could leave high school??

And honestly I'd probably roll my eyes too at such a silly event, give me a break, it doesnt deserve any all that 'class' and 'respect'.

I think the skirts were a little short, especially because they are the presidential daughters (whether they like it or not) - if they were my nieces and showed up at a family function like that, I'd tell them about it (the skirts being too short) and I'm sure I'd hear that everyone is wearing them like that

but not club gear, no

ditto redcatwaves. They look like teenagers. Their skirts are a tad short for a media event maybe, but I don't think they look nearly as slutty as most teens do these days.

I don't see how you can communicate or really even do anything in daily life if it takes that.

i read about the firing and decided to check out what they were wearing.
yeah, the dresses were too short but that is the style i guess.
Re: skirt length, walk into Aeropostale or any teen store. That's the length of pretty much every skirt. That's the style.

eta - not saying they look horrible or deserve the nasty critique. But someone could have gotten them together a little better.

I see to remember skirts being shorter than that what Sasha and Malia are wearing, maybe worn by some here.
