Poll: Is Consistency Important in a Board Persona?
I'm intrigued by a famous quote from Emerson:
"A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds."
Well, not really but I'm trying to class up this poll.
In your opinion, would it be better to:
(a) Maintain a pleasant, sweet, kind Board Persona in your public messages, but send vicious snarling PMs to people who deserve it. (It is, after all, the perfect crime!)
(b) Maintain a snarky, sarcastic, Village of the Damned Board Persona but send kind, loving PMs to those you deem worthy of your love. (But run this risk of getting banned, getting messages from people who chose Option A, being pelted with gummi bears in public)
(c) Neither. You should let your insides match your outsides and be nice or mean wherever you are. Life is confusing enough as it is.

I picked option 4.
Seriously, though, I don't pretend to be someone else-either overly nice or overly mean. Sometimes, I'm more obnoxious than others-just depends on my mood.
I don't think I've ever sent anyone a mean PM, so I am probably nicer over PM....I'm definitely more intellectual over PM because I don't have to worry about other multiple people's opinions, interruptions and distractions, etc.-but that's the same way I am while interacting with people in real life. A group is more impersonal, therefore I don't usually get as emotionally or intellectually involved in a group conversation.

Well, you didn't have to read about me reading it, did you?
Just don't read it if it offends you.

Sorry, I'm too tired to be any more funny than my failure above.

Ok, netg, despite the fact that your complete lack of an attempt at humor offends me, I will let it slide on this holiest of all days, my birthday.

It's your birthday?
I assume your name's not Marina, but this is the best I could do on such short notice.

Wow, you'd almost think I did it on purpose or something.
Code:
Oh, wait. I did-because I couldn't find a gecko birthday cake....

no wonder you got sick!
anyway....
once upon a time there was an NC member with a sweet, kind face on her threads. and there was a disturbance in the force and "sweet, kind" member said that her husband would help end the disturbance. and the Empress said that she was warning the disturbance that help was on the way and could she just be quiet about it please.
and "sweet, kind" member started snarking about me. in threads, in messages, and in chat. and in chat she got caught several times saying nasty things about the Empress, one of which was that she knew my real name, address and phone number and she was going to "get" me [which is why i now leave few identifiers around here].
and after announcing that the disturbance had been located, "sweet, kind" member stated that if the disturbance started again, it would be the Empress doing it to prove a point.
charming girl.
several months later, "sweet, kind" member was white-knighting for another member that SKM felt the Empress was unfairly attacking [singling me out when the other member was under fire from many quarters].
only to turn around and sing a totally different tune a week later when my father died. someone else posted about that - not me - and SKM was sending "prayers to me".
only to go on the attack again a month later. and then to go on about my "handsome daddy" when i did post about him a few months later, inviting members to visit the memorial page i had set up for him. that creeped me out no end.
it was soon discovered that SKM was deriding NC members on another forum and that some of her dealings behind the scenes here were not exactly on the up-and-up. she was also desperate to get me to answer her makeup questions, and created not, one, but two other personae to try to get me to talk to her.
and she did leave NC - after several "goodbye cruel board" posts.
personally, i don't think she was quite stable, but i also don't think that should excuse the worst of her excesses.
with me, what you see, is what you get. i don't see the point in being two, or more, people.

I am no different on the boards than I am off of them. I am very consistent, no matter what name I may choose for myself next. To quote Popeye,"I yam what I yam, and that's all that I yam!"

What I am here is not what I am in the real world but I am consistant. I only use pm for stuff I don't think others need to know.
A harem? in my dreams. I didn't have a date until my senior prom because I was so shy. But hey a guy can dream.
option 3
