What a HORRIBLE experience! I hate bra shopping more than nearly anything on earth. Honestly! These companies should give you hazard pay for the experience. If not that at least issue a glass of wine for each trip into the changing room!

YUCK!

Argh, yes, a lot of us feel that way. That's how I used to feel too....until this past winter, when I decided to bite the bullet and go to a really high-end department store (Nordstrom). I asked for a bra fitting, and I finally got some bras that make me look good! Have you tried a high-end dept. store?

I muddled through and got a couple bras that will tide me over. But you're right, I should do that.

Measure for your perfect size yourself! 🙂

Completely exhale and measure right under your boobs. Then, bend over and measure them to get their size around when they're "up."

Subtract the two numbers to get a cup size. 1 = A, 2 = B, etc.

My under chest is 30 and my chest is 34. My perfect size is 30D. I can raise the band number and equally lower the letter for stores that don't carry my size. 32C fits nicely as well.

30D and 32C are "sister sizes", along with 34B & 36A

Sorry that you hate bra shopping so much. I agree with getting fit by a specialist and then purchasing 3-4 bras. "One to wash, one to wear and one to rest" was a motto I was taught in the bra fit training. ALSO, to maximize the bras' life spans (so you don't have to undergo that torture too frequently) is to wash them in a lingerie bag on gentle or delicate cycle. If you don't have a lingerie bag, just put them in a pillowcase and close that with a hair-tye. NEVER put them in the dryer, just hang dry them or lay them flat on a surface. I've kept bras in near-perfect condition for 6+ years with this method.

Thank you all for the advice and commiseration! I did the measurement you suggested, Glamorstrukk, and came out 32D which happens to be what I bought. I think I need to stick to one brand. Maidenform seems to be the best fit for me and I recall buying their bras in the past and was happy with them.

I'd gotten "lazy" and was living in some old worn out soft comfortable no underwire bras that felt good but looked pretty bad. These new bras are so great! I actually look like I've lost weight with these good fitting bras. I have to remember this!

It's all about Nordstrom - they're the BEST! It's worth it to be measured once a year or so. I tend to buy them only once a year and get two. They're usually around $90 each, so that's all I can afford LOL!

I'm really excited that Nordstrom is opening up a store near me!

Munchy, I bought an expensive bra in Bloomies but then found it on Amazon for about $60 less! I scooped up several. It's worth checking to see if it's available online if you know the exact model number.

I love all the Curl Junkie products. Still experimenting with gels and curl creams. Still hoping for 2nd day hair....
