A friend of mine is having a product party, featuring cleaning products and self defense products. Do you guys own self defense products, and are they helpful or comforting to you? My friend will be buying a stun gun, suggested I do the same. (The rep teaches you to use everything, however briefly.)

A real gun works just fine with me.
It's not easy being a princess, but hey, if the crown fits.
What do you need a stun gun for?!??!?!

No, I don't have anything lol

I had a handgun after there was a murder nearby, but I sold it after Newtown. Now I have mace in a sparkly dispenser that looks like perfume.

I don't count my dogs as self-defense weapons, but I would be surprised if anyone tried to get past them.

What about when you are out & about? (All of you) Do you take the sparkly-contained mace out w you, claudine?

Idk, CC. Friend suggested it. Sometimes i work late & i have a 4 block walk to my car...lots of seedy Individuals hanging around (altho there is security on bikes). I also have rebtal properties in some not-so-great areas. Right now one is vacant & who knows what i might walk in on when i stop by. Plus, I'm getting my real estate license & would def feel safer walking into empty (vacant) homes w some "reinforcements". Idk...it's also a "crazy world we live in!" lol

Is it a bad thing? I'd feel better w a stun gun than a real fire arm bc w a stun gun, i'd never have to deal w the possibility of accidentally killing a person, and all the legal ramifications of that. Tho, I'm not opposed to ppl owning real fire arms.

Haha my boyfriend's cousin came over the other day. Bf was in the basement & just texted him to come in when he got there, the door was open. So he did, not realizing we have a dog. He said the dog was so ugly & scary-looking, he went running right back out the door. But unfortunately, the dog was just as terrified of the cousin & ran even faster in the other direction. Lol

Well, at least the boyfriend wasn't ugly.
I thought you had your r/e license?
You can never be too safe. Always protect yourself!
Yes, it is, indeed, a crazy world we live in!
Be safe.

Mace & a self defense class. I need to do a refresher course. It's been a long time. This course has helped me thru 3 attacks. I can't have the glittery mace, becuz my granddaughter likes to help herself to my lipsticks & perfumes.
From Michael Berg:

Every person has a unique connection to the Creator that can never be extinguished, and every person has a great soul that can manifest important things in our world. To make a person feel less than they are because of something inside themselves, be it faith, race, or sexual orientation, is the greatest sin of all."
I just got the mace today (though I've had it before). I plan to leave it in my car so that if I'm ever at a park alone (with a dog or two) or even with a female friend, I'll have it available.

In re: dogs: I don't actually know if my dogs would do anything (unless an intruder was riding a bicycle in my house, since one of mine hates bikes), but they are NOISY. Funnily enough, a little terrier boy I rescued years ago, who was adopted by my friend down the street, would for certain attack an intruder ---- he's a fierce little thing! (He is the size of and closely resembles Toto from the Wizard of Oz.)

Claudine, don't leave your mace in the car. Have it on you and easily assessable. A lot can happen in broad daylight in areas you wouldn't think they would.

I would recommend a self defense class. I don't see s my harm in the stun gun but make sure it's practical. After all if you can't easily access it if you're caught off guard, it isn't worth it. I think mace is good but keep it on you.
