A friend of mine is having a product party, featuring cleaning products and self defense products. Do you guys own self defense products, and are they helpful or comforting to you? My friend will be buying a stun gun, suggested I do the same. (The rep teaches you to use everything, however briefly.)

A real gun works just fine with me.

What do you need a stun gun for?!??!?!

No, I don't have anything lol

I had a handgun after there was a murder nearby, but I sold it after Newtown. Now I have mace in a sparkly dispenser that looks like perfume.

I don't count my dogs as self-defense weapons, but I would be surprised if anyone tried to get past them.

What about when you are out & about? (All of you) Do you take the sparkly-contained mace out w you, claudine?

Idk, CC. Friend suggested it. Sometimes i work late & i have a 4 block walk to my car...lots of seedy Individuals hanging around (altho there is security on bikes). I also have rebtal properties in some not-so-great areas. Right now one is vacant & who knows what i might walk in on when i stop by. Plus, I'm getting my real estate license & would def feel safer walking into empty (vacant) homes w some "reinforcements". Idk...it's also a "crazy world we live in!" lol

Is it a bad thing? I'd feel better w a stun gun than a real fire arm bc w a stun gun, i'd never have to deal w the possibility of accidentally killing a person, and all the legal ramifications of that. Tho, I'm not opposed to ppl owning real fire arms.

Haha my boyfriend's cousin came over the other day. Bf was in the basement & just texted him to come in when he got there, the door was open. So he did, not realizing we have a dog. He said the dog was so ugly & scary-looking, he went running right back out the door. But unfortunately, the dog was just as terrified of the cousin & ran even faster in the other direction. Lol

Well, at least the boyfriend wasn't ugly.
I thought you had your r/e license?
You can never be too safe. Always protect yourself!
Yes, it is, indeed, a crazy world we live in!
Be safe.

Mace & a self defense class. I need to do a refresher course. It's been a long time. This course has helped me thru 3 attacks. I can't have the glittery mace, becuz my granddaughter likes to help herself to my lipsticks & perfumes.

I just got the mace today (though I've had it before). I plan to leave it in my car so that if I'm ever at a park alone (with a dog or two) or even with a female friend, I'll have it available.

In re: dogs: I don't actually know if my dogs would do anything (unless an intruder was riding a bicycle in my house, since one of mine hates bikes), but they are NOISY. Funnily enough, a little terrier boy I rescued years ago, who was adopted by my friend down the street, would for certain attack an intruder ---- he's a fierce little thing! (He is the size of and closely resembles Toto from the Wizard of Oz.)

Claudine, don't leave your mace in the car. Have it on you and easily assessable. A lot can happen in broad daylight in areas you wouldn't think they would.

I would recommend a self defense class. I don't see s my harm in the stun gun but make sure it's practical. After all if you can't easily access it if you're caught off guard, it isn't worth it. I think mace is good but keep it on you.

HG: Jessicurl Too Shea and Kinky Curly Curling Custard
Shampoo: nonsulfate shampoo and Suave Naturals sulfate shampoo when needed
I have mace and will be mindful of where the wind is blowing in case I have to use it. I'd like to learn how to operate a firearm since it'll be relatively easy for me to obtain a concealed carry permit in this state. I took kung fu years ago but need a refresher. Martial arts has so many physical and mental benefits.

Claudine, I can't stress to you enough to keep the mace on you at all times. I was attacked in broad daylight on a Sunday morning in a parking lot in front of a CVS. It was a nice area. I didn't feel nervous walking to my car.

I'm a big fan of the self defense class and stun gun combo.
Mace is great as it does give you separation distance when you see a threat coming but in reality I think the attack is more often blind or surprise where stun gun and the ability to maneuver in close quarters gives one a greater ability to end the attack and get away.

They make stun guns in such small fit in the hand options. Rings even.

I have self defense products just because I like them. An Italian stiletto switchblade, because I love knives. A CO2 pellet gun, because I like to target practice. A blinding flashlight with sharp spokes that come out, because it's a great flashlight. I also have a rape whistle and mace that my dad gave me and I keep a big club in my Jeep that Chon gave me.
I walk around town at night alone all the time and never take any of my self defense items with me. I live in a secure building and it would be hard to get to me.

My fiance and I went to the Afro-Latino festival in Seattle last Sunday and saw a vendor with a bunch of self-defense products and even purses that accommodated firearms.
