Congrats, CP! You'll do great, I'm sure! Try to be confident and don't let your anxiety take over. Just take your time and really try to soak up all the new info.

Thanks so much everyone! I'm so glad I have this group to tell my good news to. {{{Curlfriends}}}!!

Jaynee and Debh - great advice for a scaredy curly like me - I'm going to read it over and let it sink in. Then I'll read it again!

CIBC - It's got to happen for you! You are so talented.

TRBL - thanks so much for the encouragement. I really am scared but feeling better now after reading all your posts.

Anna - I start Monday. Thanks a lot for the support. It does really help!

Yay CurlyPearl!

Had chat with dad - we've agreed Im to focus on my art work but still keep applying for part time jobs - but not just any crappy ones, ones that will look good on my CV and help with adding more skills etc. Mums agreed to back off and stop nagging me to apply for every little ****ty job (that she herself wont apply for) which is good.

25% of 16-25 year olds are out of work. Its a scary world.

Thanks mucho Eche and Kat! I've been eating a lot - that and reading everyone's posts help me feel less nervous.
Plump - but placid. (hee!)

My Facebook status right now:

Okay...let's try something new. At exactly 5:15 tomorrow, if you are able to, I would like all 422 of you to send telepathic, "You gotta hire this girl. You gotta hire this girl. HIRE THIS GIRL!" messages to the people interviewing me. Let's see if that works. Thank you very much.

CP, I'm so excited for you. Of course, you're nervous, but that is normal when someone starts a new job. You will do so good. I just know it. Please keep us posted on how it's going.

See, cp? You're irresistible.

The kind of salesperson they wanted at your last job would have made me avoid that place forever. A sinking ship is a sinking ship --- demanding that you do the bailing wasn't going to help.
---------
CIBC, you have my heartfelt good wishes. I believe you will look back on this as a rough time, but will get through it. Hang on. Just keep hanging on.
------------
Should I go to a networking event in a few weeks? I'm busy now, with a little bit extra trickling in, but after I finish my current projects, I'm not sure what's next.

I hate networking. It's like going to a party for me......no real task other than to sell myself. Blech. But everyone's always saying "Oh, you have to network, blah blah blah."

If I go, is it okay to have a drink first?

Thanks Lotsa you gorgeous gal. Between your man adventures and my work adventures we could write "As the world turns" (in our case "As the stomach turns.")

ND: Definitely a drink first. I loathe networking. Try to find out if they have free food so at least it won't be a total waste.

CP, you've been on a hunt for a job and I've been on a hunt for a husband. I think I've been having more fun.

You could do what I did the last time I went to one of those. I went in good faith and made an honest effort. I then bailed early and went a got a glass of wine at my favorite restaurant. It was about 2pm on a weekday.

Yeah. We are close. I love him to bits.

Jobs come up a lot in this house (he often rants about the government) and I said I was sorry for being a failure - cause to be honest I have felt like that, given my age and situation, and he sat me down and told me on no account was I a failure and to never think that about myself and that he's proud of me, which prompted the talk about what to do next/what I really want to be doing etc.

Thanks Multicultcurly! I'm feeling a lot better today. A shrink once said I had good instincts about people, so I should keep your advice in mind!

That is exactly what I'm going to do. Do the work, then reward myself.

Thanks!
