Which of us are job hunting?

Thanks! It's what I've always wanted to do...just a matter of actually DOING it and knowing what to do with it when it's done!
I had my phone interview today. I think it went pretty well, but I always drive myself crazy after things like this second guessing everything and analyzing every word that I said.

The woman I talked to, who handles HR and a few other areas of the business, said she would look into it and see if they had any immeidate openings that might be a good fit for my skill set, and if so, she would have me in for an in-person interview.

Also, later this afternoon, I got a call from my contact there (the one who first told me about the job) saying that he's overloaded with work and finally asked his boss for someone to take part of his workload, so a position might be opening up sooner than they thought.

The HR woman told me she'd let me know either way if they have any positions for me, so I guess it's a waiting game now. I am a nervous wreck even thinking about the possibility of an in-person interview, but I'm excited too. We'll see what happens.

I guess that's another good sign? I'm thinking they are going to have a position open soon, but she doesn't want to commit to anything and get my hopes up in case the other two don't feel I would be the right fit.

Thoughts?

Nothing exciting today but I send a bunch of resumes last night. I saw one that could be my dream job. Oh well, keep dreaming...
Still looking also. I think I must have applied for everything out there because I just keep seeing the same jobs over and over again. All the same jobs I've already applied for.

I've also applied and received a "no thanks" almost immediately. At least then you know what happened

I have my second phone interview in about an hour. I hate interviews! I'm so nervous because I'm going to be speaking with the owner of the company, and the guy that originally put me in contact with the company, so I feel like he'll be able to tell if my voice is shaky. I just feel like I end up rambling on and sounding like an idiot. Did I mention I hate interviews?

1.) I had an interview today to do Ad Sales for a theatre magazine. It was a bit of a businesslike environment (most of the theatre offices I've been to have been bright and...well...theatrey!) It seemed like a cool place to work, BUT I really don't want to do Ad Sales. The interview apparently went pretty well and he gave me an assignment to do and I'm going back next week to go over it with him. The money's not great, and it's mostly comission-based.

2.) I haven't heard from that magazine company that asked me if I could start right away. They said they would be done with interviews "mid-week", so maybe I'll hear from them tomorrow or Friday. However, today I got a phone call for an interview with the same company, but for the book division instead of the magazines. Maybe it will be something good!

3.) I just applied to work for the circus.

Utter randomness! I really just wanted to get out of there. Later I told my friend, "It was so weird!" and she went, "What did you expect from a place that packages horror films?"

I was in there for all of 90 seconds, and had to sit in a chair which majorly sunk in so I was pretty much sitting on the floor!

The dude begins our interview with, "So, ask me questions."

Then tells me, "This office is very slow. Not much happens, and I'm not here most of the time."

He asked me if I knew Quicken.

I told him no, in hopes that he'd dismiss me.

He didn't.

I finally get to leave, shout a hearty, "CONGRATULATIONS!" at the very pregnant receptionist and then go skipping down the street, shaking my head in amusement and looking forward to watching my beloved Apolo dance his little heart out tonight.

I totally didn't want this job, and they're probably right about that. Haha. It kinda sounded like the start of a Twilight Zone episode...me, alone, surrounded by horror movie posters...
I have an interview tomorrow with the book division of the company whose magazine division I interviewed with last week (and still haven't heard back from!)

It might be cancelled if the hiring manager has jury duty, though!
I am exhausted!

I went to the magazine company today, and the HR portion went really well! The girl was telling me they hadn't had too many good candidates in for it and told me they would need me to start ASAP. Like, Monday! (This was 4:30 today...Friday! ) Weird, but I said that I could! ("Heck, I'll start right now!")

Then I met with two other people...they were nice and it went well and they kept stressing how they really really needed to fill these spots.

However, they looked at my resume and my portfolio and saw how much writing I have done and I think it turned them off I've had that problem a few times! Yes, I DO love to write and eventually WANT to write, but I know at this point, I just need to find a job in my field, learn about things, etc. etc. etc.

I think it really turns them off when it's not a very creative/editorial-type position...makes me nervous! I never know how much to tell them!

But it went as well as it could have, I sent my thank-yous, and they said they'll get back to me early next week.

I don't get how much better an interview has to be or how more qualified I need to be before I get a job. This just sucks so much! It was bad enough going through it the first time, I just can't deal with this for another two years.
wahooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I TOTALLY just nailed my interview!!!!!!

I was in there over an hour, first with HR then with the manager of the department. She was SUPER nice, only a few years older than me. It was extremely relaxed.

She looked at my portfolio of all the stuff I've been published in and everthing, and said, "You're making me feel like a loser! I haven't done anything cool like this!"

(So if I don't get it, it is OBVIOUSLY because she feels threatened that I'll take over her job. Obviously! Haha.)

I feel good! Even if I don't get it...I'm ready to nail the next interview! Lemme at it!

I called the potential boss to follow-up and got her voicemail today. On her voicemail, she states she'll be out of town for two weeks!

Made me feel better!

Maybe things are just hectic and they haven't hired ANYBODY yet.

Hopefully, everything's okay with her...maybe she won the lottery and is on vacation.

This week was very dead for me. Nothing! I only got one thanks but no thanks for your resume.

I had an interview yesterday to be the "Assistant Sales Manager" of the INTERNATIONAL DIVISION of a publishing house.

The HR portion went well (ah, they always feel like they do!) She was very nice and told me that she always tries to pass resumes around ot her friends at other publishing houses if she likes the person if the position they interviewed with her doesn't work out.

I met with somebody else, who really seemed to like me and all of my book experience. I was in there for about 1.5 hours!

However...

1.) He asked me if I spoke foreign languages. I don't! THere are those out there who do. I guess that's an easy to be one-upped, an I can't exactly fake knowing French. (As many times as I've seen Amelie )

2.) I think he got the unhidable impression that I'm pretty creative and asked me why I wasn't pursuing writing, so as much as he liked me, maybe he doesn't think I'll be the best for this and they'll go with a seasoned former junior sales agent or something...

Slightly frustrated because this girl I know who just moved up here got the first job she interviewed for!!!!!! But I am telling myself I am getting some interviews with huge companies and it means a lot to just get an interview. Still...

I was so happy when I got my offer for my last job! I had no doubt that I wanted to take it and was so excited...I want to have that feeling again.
