No. But it will allow me to avoid daycare expenses & pays well. I can't afford to reject the offer. I'll take the other job if offered down the line at a competitive rate of pay.

Shay, my daughter has been having a hard time as well and she is 20. She took training to be a CNA, and they will work around her schedule for college classes.

So. I didn't hear anything after my interview to stay on at my retail job. Went to work today - my manager and work colleagues all said I AM having my contract extended (though it doesn't sound like they are offering me any of the 8 permanent positions they have going, they just want to carry on working for x amount of time.)
But I didn't hear anything by the woman hiring who interviewed me enough though everyone else who interviewed had a phone call days ago. I saw her at the very end of the day - she wants me to go see her for a chat tomorrow.
All sounds a bit odd.
Anyway if she asks me to stay on - is it normal for people to say they'd like a couple of days to consider it? Or will that make me look bad/annoy her?

I know it gets tough. Don't quit & try not too settle. I don't know what's worse a job you hate or no job. I guess a job in any circumstances is better than none. At least that's what I tell myself

Question for you guys --
So a lot of these jobs that I'm trying to apply for (recently posted) are in the non-student category. Technically I am a student until Dec. 14 when I graduate. I'm afraid they will automatically reject my application and it also might just not make sense if they are looking for people to start immediately (they are 8-5s).
I can only apply for these jobs once. How long should I wait until I apply? (I'm assuming there will continually be new listings...) I was thinking until Dec 1. What do you guys think?

I'm not sure but typically if you are on the brink of graduating you can apply now. Just inform them your start date must be after your grad date. Or play it safe & wait

So they don't want to offer me a permanent position. Apparently my interview wasn't very good. I didn't ask the right questions in the role play and they are looking for more high item sellers. They want to turn the shops into more customer service oreintated so basically like very expensive shops you walk in to and you get someone pouncing on you trying to help you/sell you something.
We sell key rings at a tourist attraction but whatever.
Basically I'm a very good till/cashier but not so hot on making a sale.
They said they have some spare money to keep on some people so if I want to, they'd be happy to extend my contract a month of two (basically keep me on for the busy period) but seeing how I'm not good enough to offer a permanent position for, it seems clear to me that they have no intention of keeping me on/offering me a job after that. My coworker said it sounds like they're keeping me on for their own convenience.
I told them I'd give them my answer by Monday. I'm not fussed they don't want to keep me - I don't have aspirations to stay there anyway, but I am worried that my interview skills suck so much.
I'm tempted to call it a day. With the run up to Christmas I have some opportunities to sell my stuff at draft fairs and make a bit of money that way which I can't do while I'm earning, but I'm scared I'll be unemployed for months YET AGAIN. They also want to move me into a shop where I hate the atmosphere and don't like the people much. I'd be more tempting to work bother month or two if I could stay where I am now. Either way, it's clear this is likely the last year I'll be able to get a seasonal job working there, or at any of the other historic palaces in the same company. Why would they hire me for another job, even if it isnt retail after this?
I don't know what to do.

Kat - ((( hugs))) I know it's hard but try to not let this get you down. If you were really that bad they wouldn't have offered to extend your contract. And it could also be a personality clash between you and the hiring person. Maybe she doesn't care for you. But that doesn't matter. You have a future as an illustrator; this is just a step to get there.

I'm trying not to stress about this, considering people have lost lives/businesses/homes all around me this week and I am very grateful I'm okay, but I'm a little worried/anxious about my retail job and just want a definite start date. I was supposed to start last Monday, but EVERYTHING has been closed since. I quit my waitressing job and my checking account is rapidly diminishing. I would never quit a job without having one first, and I was supposed to wait tables three days last week and lost all of that pay because everybody is closed.
I just hope the store calls me soon and doesn't forget they hired me or retract it for some reason. Can they do that?

School boards need to realize my husband is awesome. Seriously. He's kept his cool through many situations with students, has high up principles in the district calling saying, "WHY ISN'T HE ON THE SUB LIST YET?".
*sigh* Poor guy is working 2 jobs right now, I want him to have some stability, so we can have some stability. He has an interview for a third (sub) position tomorrow. Just printed off his application package it's like a book.

I had a slightly odd but entertaining interview a few weeks ago.
On my way out, I couldn't find the elevator, and some older man directed me towards it and I made a joke that I wouldn't want the person I just interviewed with to see me looking for the elevator like a total flake.
Then this young, good-looking guy walks-out to the elevator and the older guy suddenly goes, "He's hiring!" (in a joking way).
The young guy and I are in the elevator and he's making small talk and asks for my card (which I have and which says "writer" under my name) and asks what kind of writing I do, I was honest because who cares what this guy thinks...
I get my rejection from the guy I met with originally. He thought I was wonderful, but "the woman I hired just had a tad more experience" but...
"You rode the elevator with a young man whose office is on my floor. He was interested in talking with you about working with him."
Um? So...
--Good-looking young man who knows nothing about me made the effort to talk to this older man about me.
--Does he really have a job or was he just attracted to me?
--COULD I END-UP MARRYING THIS GUY I MET IN AN ELEVATOR? I will have SO much more faith in this world if something like that happens to me. SO much!!!!
