I have come across temp jobs, but I cant leave a perm job for a job that may only last a few months. I have found jobs that i know i can do, but they require further education or special licensing.
i also know of jobs but they are not in my field, i have no clue how to do them.
my dad works at a job that does not require an diploma or GED (one of the few left in the world). one of my bff's husband does not have a diploma. She told her husband about a posible job opening, the minute he found out it evolves hard work (the company cleans of oil spills and its very dirty) he said he wasnt interested. Really? He makes maybe 100$ a week. his wife hours just got cut and she is paying all the bills and they sometimes dont have food in the house, but you wont do a job that pays 18$/hr plus benefits because you dont want to get dirty? WOW!

Booooooooooooooo.
I emailed that lovely temp agency lady and told her what days I was free this week and next in case she needs anyone to watch a phone for a day or two.

CIBC - I have my fingers crossed for you. Your interview seems promising and I think the job and staff seem to be a good fit.
CocoT, Thelio & Sinastral hang in there. It has to get better!
Kat - how are you doing?

That's nuts! You'd think they'd be increasing the hours at this time of year! CIBC, you have amazing initiative and tenacity - I hope lovely temp agency lady comes through for you.

Thank you!
It's crazy...they hired SO MANY PEOPLE for the holidays. I'm upset, since I worked nearly forty hours the past three weeks and this week and next I have 12 each! But I was called-in on Monday, so I'm hoping maybe if it gets busier than they anticipated they can call me to come in.
I hate worrying about money.
And being bored.

Thank you!
CocoT - I think it's okay to discuss your struggles... It's not complaining because you're doing all you can do.

I got a part-time job! At the Cold Stone near my school. They hire mostly college students rather than high school, so I was pretty surprised to get the call but I'm really happy about it. Most of the money I make will go into savings, but I'm hoping to still make a decent amount.

I'm in severe "I am nervous and down and bored and lonely and depressed and I just want to throw things" mode tonight.

Thanks ladies.
I'm doing all that I can with this job search. I don't want to be unemployed and out of school so I'm going to push forward with school. I was going to defer but I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket. I need to stay productive. I checked my application status for the school I want to go to and it says "admit pending on Fall 2012 transcripts", so I'm pretty sure I'm in there. I intend on registering. I just need the official acceptance to hurry up and come already. I sent in my app in June! I wish this school wasn't so dang late with everything. I just hope I can get into the classes I want.

Good luck CIBC!!
I'm starting to buy packaging/make things for a craft show or two coming up and to get an etsy store up and running. Going to give that a go for a while and see where it takes me.
On the up side, I got a £100 xmas bonus of my internship this week which was very very kind of her as I know no one else is getting one at all this year. And shes in discussions with her business partner about employing me properly next year. Just one or two days a week - its not remotely enough to live off but its in my chosen area and means I dont have to go back on jobseekers. So Im going to give my art a real go of it and hunt for a publishing internship and if it doesnt pan out, well at least I've tried.
Of course it means it doesnt look like Ill be able to even think about moving out of my parents house. 25 and living at home. God.

I need more opinions. Should I call again? Leave a message? I don't think I should but my sis thinks I should.

I don't think you should call or email again. The employer knows you're interested.

I temp'd yesterday, it was a GREAT hourly wage, and he might need me to come back again. The office was extremely disorganized, and I basically was just putting things in order all day. He was a very nice man, and told me he'd tell the agency I did a great job and "jumped right in." (Which made me happy, because one of the things the last idiots I worked for brought-up when they fired me was that they had needed somebody that was going to "jump right in"...because, you know, driving a van throughout NYC in my second week wasn't jumping-in enough for them. Ughhhhh, I seriously hate those people and hope they get theirs one day.)
I was supposed to work at the store all day yesterday and they had cut my hours so that's why I took the temp job...and then they called me Friday night asking me to come in because they had people call-out! So, you cut my hours and give them to people who end-up calling-out?
Just superfrustrated. How on earth does a girl get ahead?????? I'm SO bored and feel so isolated, too. It's hard having any kind of a social life right now when you have to worry about all of the practical things first.

-MTV tomorrow
-Phone discussion with Guy From Elevator at 3:00
-Still waiting on that interview I went on last week that had gone so well.
I cannot tell you how sick I am of all of this!!!
And how terrified I am of getting another job and having another negative experience and getting fired again. Cancel, cancel.
