I will clean oil spills. I have 8 more weeks of unemployment. I need a job fast. I haven't had that many responses to my resume.

my dad works at a job that does not require an diploma or GED (one of the few left in the world). one of my bff's husband does not have a diploma. She told her husband about a posible job opening, the minute he found out it evolves hard work (the company cleans of oil spills and its very dirty) he said he wasnt interested. Really? He makes maybe 100$ a week. his wife hours just got cut and she is paying all the bills and they sometimes dont have food in the house, but you wont do a job that pays 18$/hr plus benefits because you dont want to get dirty? WOW!
I will do it. I have eight more weeks left to receive my unemployment. I need a job.

I start my new job tomorrow. I'm so geeked.

I just want to say to all of you on the hunt, don't give up. It took me a year 50 applications, 5 interviews, 2 portfolio samples, & I took another job I hated, before this. It took a lot of positivity, prayer, & good karma. Hopefully I can help some other folks get work.

I know a few ladies who are willing to do it. But the company doesnt feel comfortable hiring women for the job. its a very male dominated field and the guys are great but feel women can do anything, just not their job.

Job hunting sucks. I've been employed during the recession for the most part but I hated many of the jobs I've had. I've been lucky that most were in my chosen field but many of them paid little and made me feel bad about my life. My current job makes me so angry that I've had asthma attacks, became sick and began hating going in.

I've accepted another position at a company that I feel I'll fit in better at. It requires some overtime but the pay is more in line with my skills and experience. I just need my offer letter before I turn in my notice.

I'm excited to have a job that will just be a job. For the past 3 years, I've hated and cried because of the crappy places I've been. I've also gone into debt, hated the way I looked, and drove my friend's crazy with the crazy experiences these places have given me.

Here is hoping that we all have a much better 2013 than the struggles of 2012. :-)

I think I dreamed all of those jobs interviews I went on that seemed to go so well and now aren't responding to follow-ups

I give-up.

Smdh.

And I have to go into this interview tomorrow whilst in the throes of "first-3-days-of-my-period" hell AAAAND trying to get over an asthma attack.

Mind you, I have that cough-variant type which means endless, endless dry coughing. Water, and cough drops are useless. PRAY I make it through tomorrow....heck, through the rest of this week!!!

I plan to dose myself up with Mucinex tonight (can't take it during the day bc it makes me so dizzy) and take a little plain guaifenesin syrup right before I leave the house. And my inhalers. So tired of my life right now.....

This has nothing to do with jobs or interviews, but I have the same condition as you. Bronchial asthma that means endless coughing. I have the flu and I'm on the same meds you are. I've been non stop hacking for 3 days. My stomach muscles are in agony.

I feel your pain. I could never go into a job interview this way. You poor thing.

I'm officially going back to school but I haven't given up on the job search. I'm looking for part time positions through my school now. Hopefully I get better luck. I'm not going to be sending out my resume as aggressively anymore, at least for a while, but if I see some positions with a nice salary and seems worthwhile I'm applying.

Ironically, I've come across a few part time positions that are looking for people with Bachelor's degrees. Luckily for me, I have one Hopefully that gives me a better chance.

Heck yeah it does!!!! I'm getting mine in a few hours! YUSSS!!

Today is graduation day and my supervisor from my volunteering research position e-mailed me about a part-time paying job! (20 hours/wk) It seriously couldn't be more perfect, I'm beyond thrilled. So 20 hours of paid work plus 12-ish hours of volunteering per week is what's in store for me next spring.

It's perfect. I didn't want to work 50 hours per week again (like last summer). I need to work on my mental and physical health... Since I'm living at home, I luckily don't have any major expenses.

Pretty much I couldn't be more grateful for how everything has worked out.

Sending my lucky vibes to all of you still in the job hunt!

A good friend of mine lost her job on Friday. (Happy Holidays!!!)

She kept texting me throughout the weeks saying, "I am getting fired. I KNOW I am getting fired."

And on Friday morning...

"They just fired me. I'm hysterical."

Poor girl was a wreck. She hated her job and didn't like most of the people there. She was barely making anything. They didn't give her a reason, or any kind of severance. She was there almost 2 years.

I told her that I know it sounds weird coming from me since I probably always sound like I'm going totally off the deep end, but I have lost four jobs in the past six years and have survived and she'll be fine.

Ughhhhhhhhhhh.

I had a phone interview the other day and was called in for an in-person for tomorrow morning. The lady seemed PERFECTLY LOVELY (seriously!) and since it's a Jewish organization, I asked this other lady I know who also works at a Jewish non-profit if she knew her. She didn't know her personally, but said they were GREAT GREAT people over there and she'd drop them a note for me.

(Odd story of how I met the other girl! I applied to work in HER office and she sent me a very nice rejection letter saying the position had been filled, but:

But I did want to let you know that your cover letter stood out, among hundreds of others. Had we been looking for someone to do PR, you definitely would have made the cut. Job hunting is a tiring process and is frustrating. However I wanted to let you know that I'm confident with your great writing, shown in your cover letter, that someone with the right position will find you soon.

Anyway, she's very sweet and we stayed in touch!
