Which of us are job hunting?

This 22 year old at the store who graduated last year was telling me how embarrassed she is when people she knew from HS come in.

I AM NEARLY TEN YEARS OLDER THAN HER. SHUT UP. SHUT UP. SHUT UP.
I applied for this Public Relations/Marketing internship through my school yesterday and this morning I got an email inviting me for an interview tomorrow. I'm debating on whether or not I should bother going. It's in the city and it's after 4, and I don't really like that. When I applied I was really taking a bit of a crap shoot, but the guy said he was impressed with a lot of stuff on my resume so I feel like I should at least check it out and see what it's about. Even if this isn't necessarily in my field of interest I could still learn valuable skills and from doing some research on the company it looks like it would be great on my resume. Plus if I land it, I'd have something else to occupy my time with since all I have is school.

Not sure if you went CocoT, but I'd say go for it, even if it is to just get practice interviewing.

I got another job interview invite! Well, it's a phone interview but its something. The job would be part time, 4 hours a day, around 14-15 an hour, and a train ride away from my school! Plus, it's at one of my dream schools for when I'm ready to go to graduate school.

I've been lazy with applying the past few weeks. There hasn't BEEN anything!

Also was MAJORLY unfocused at the store today. Blah. One of the managers told me a couple of weeks ago, "You are just AWESOME. I love working with you. You're so helpful and chill and friendly to everybody."

Well, then today another manager pulled me aside and told me I was talking to a coworker too much while I was ringing people-up. Okay okay okay. Won't happen again.
Apparently now I am looking for work. Got told that my hours were getting cut in half because he doesn't have work, so I told my boss that:

I would be applying to other jobs (because 1/2 time really doesn't cut it for me), but that I was still interested in what was happening when the plant moves in a year (I may tough it out if it's a higher up position, or even an equivalent full time position, and may just contact the lady in the other plant to see if she can place me with some of her customers part time to make up some money).

I also said I wouldn't quit until I found something, at least. So he still has me for the out of town work (that he hired me for).

I THOUGHT I WAS DOING SO WELL!! WHAT HAPPENED?! *sob*
things are getting worse and worse. i thought this year would be so much better. i had such high hopes.
A friend told me about this part time gig she has going. its a stay at home thing where you answer the phone for something or the other. she is going to give me more details today when i see her. she say's it only pays 8/hour but when you are a few bucks short a month it can really add up and help.

I had two great interviews yesterday!

One was for a job back in the theatre world. The guy went on and on about my former boss, how he admires him more than most...I'm glad Former Boss posted that glowing letter on LinkedIn, so now there can be no question about whether or not he is saying anything remotely negative about me.

I told this guy who my favorite playwright was, and he said he went to college with her (forty years ago) and she wrote him a musical as a class project and he went-on to sing songs from it and tell me all about it! That had to be a good sign...

They asked if I'd be able to leave my current theatre job (which is mostly done remotely).

Fingers crossed!

The second was a non-profit that works with the blind. A lot of the staff was blind, which was pretty fascinating to me. They were really nice.

I'm pretty exhausted, and might take a break from applying until after the New Year...

This year has stunk!

Plus, my mother is up for Christmas and I seriously feel like my blood pressure is off the charts just having her in the same state. OMG. Glad to be working so much between now and Christmas Eve.

I got a second interview call today!

I'm actually going to be a little disappointed if I tell my mother about this and she DOESN'T say, "...that's because they didn't know what you looked like..."

Either way, I will be using this exact situation in a script.
My interview with the PR firm didn't happen. I went there and they interviewer didn't show up. When I called him he said he forgot to schedule our meeting in his phone and was out of town. He offered to reschedule but I kind of blew him off. I'm not even mad anymore, but the struggle continues.

I got another email about a job at a law firm. It'll be sometime next week. I also have a phone interview on monday.

I had the law firm interview and the phone interview today. The law firm interview went really well but the phone interview went horribly. I just finished it actually. I was eating when they called and my sister was distracting me in the beginning and I got flustered so it kind of went downhill from there. Couldn't regain my composure fast enough. I think I answered some of the questions okay, but I doubt they'll call me back. Awkward silences, long pauses, unanswered questions... To be honest I didn't really prepare too much for this interview so that added to the flustered-ness as well.

The PR internship hiring manager that stood me up contacted me asking to meet with me on Wednesday. I wasn't expecting him to follow up with me after that. He said he would but I've been deceived before. I don't want to go but I may be downtown on that day so it wouldn't be that big of an inconvenience. Unless he stands me up again. Then I'll look stupid and be pissed at myself for falling for the okie doke.
