Which of us are job hunting?

Okay, I've been trying to fight it, but I'm extremely depressed. I am really really really trying. I barely have any hours at the store post-holiday and am looking for another part-time job in the meanwhile, and I don't even know if it's worth it to do that, because maybe it's just easier to have wide-open availability for one job so I can get as many hours as possible?

A high schoolmate came into the store yesterday. I immediately gave her a big smile and a wave. (She and my sister were good friends, and I was good friends with her sister.)

We're not Facebook friends, we haven't spoken in probably eight years...she barely smiled back and said, "I didn't know you were working here."

(Why would you? We're not in touch?)

I was telling a friend, "I ran into Brooke at the store and she was SO unfriendly!"

My friend said, "She probably felt bad."

Me: But I gave her this big wave and smile and was happy to see her.

My friend: I always feel weird when I see people I know as waiters or cashiers. It makes you feel bad.

The thing is, I have been trying SO HARD NOT to feel bad about it. Retail is HARD WORK and is NOTHING to be ashamed of.

I have a play premiering in two weeks. My mother will be home for it (I just found out last night, she's coming home for other reasons), and I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT WANT HER THERE. She already told me this play was "horrible" and the entire audience thought it was "horrible" at its last incarnation in September. I really don't want her there! I'm not going to say anything about it to her, and if I invite any of my cousins, will ask them to do the same, and will block her from any mention of it I make on Facebook.
I have an interview tomorrow!!! I applied for the position last night, and they called me this morning!

That's a good sign, right?

CIBC - Congrats on the premiere of your play! I wouldn't worry about people who look down on you for working retail.

Mojo - that is a really good sign!

Interview seemed to go ok.... apparently my experience qualifies me for the top of my pay grade, and they like my experience in the industry (they just started a program I have a lot of experience with).

They'll call me next week if I get a second interview.

BUT I HATE HOW AWKWARD I AM IN INTERVIEWS. *headdesk* If anything costs me this job, that'll be it.
AUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHH.

Throws things.

I applied for a job last night and the lady emailed me this morning after I had already arrived at my office to come in for an interview at lunch time today and I went. I had no makeup on, bad hair because it's raining here, and dress pants that have a coffee stain on the left leg because hubby knocked his cup out of the car's cup holder onto my knee. I also am still in a boot with a cast inside it and walking with a cane. I have a bright red Keen hiking shoe on the good foot. Other than that, I looked professional: gray dress pants, ivory sweater, beige, teal, royal blue and brown scarf.

It went fabulously well! I am so excited! I will find out something Monday, Tuesday at the latest.

As of tomorrow I have been officially unemployed for 1 year.

But I had an interview today that went well, have a follow up interview next week to meet the rest of the executive team I'd be working for.

I had two great interviews yesterday!

One was for a job back in the theatre world. The guy went on and on about my former boss, how he admires him more than most...I'm glad Former Boss posted that glowing letter on LinkedIn, so now there can be no question about whether or not he is saying anything remotely negative about me.

I told this guy who my favorite playwright was, and he said he went to college with her (forty years ago) and she wrote him a musical as a class project and he went-on to sing songs from it and tell me all about it! That had to be a good sign...

They asked if I'd be able to leave my current theatre job (which is mostly done remotely).

Fingers crossed!

Is there a way I can confirm my time for an interview on Wednesday without looking like a total flake? I am completely blanking on whether or it's 11 or 11:30.

Should I call and say something like, "I was outside when we spoke before and the reception was a little fuzzy..."

I was listening to Joel Osteen preach as I applied to jobs before. It was actually making me feel better!
You could call the HR office (or whoever scheduled it) and say something like, "Hello, this is Christine. I'm scheduled for an interview on Wednesday, and I wanted to confirm the time." I wouldn't even give a reason about fuzzy reception or anything.

"i am calling to verifying by interview for wednesday." they person would hopefull tell you the time again, but if not you can say, "and the time is still the same?" and hope they repeat it. if not resort to suggestion 1.

GOOD LUCK CIBC!! you can do it!!

There was also an open position in an office I have a contact at, so I submitted and then let my friend know I had applied...they called me within minutes! I was driving when they called, and were gone when I picked-up, but I'm calling back first thing tomorrow and hopefully I can get an interview for later in the day on Wednesday.

I honestly put Joel Osteen on YouTube and got comfortable on the couch and listened to him preach for two hours today and it did make me feel a lot better.
Just got a rejection from the law firm. Fml

At least they let me know. The last interview I went on just went ghost on me. I wish I knew what I could have done differently to land the position.

I'm really tired of this.

And I never went on that PR interview. I didn't stand him up though. I did more research on the company and I just didn't get good vibes. And the guy that contacted me about the interview keeps texting me. Its weird.

Eta: omg so I'm looking at the rejection email and I scroll down and see a forwarded message with the resume of the person that they chose for the job. Should I tell him that or should I just ignore it?
