A permanent position opened up at my company, in another department.

Hoping that if I ask my boss to recommend me, that I can at least get an interview. I have a leg up on other people in that I work here and have a great internal recommendation, and they won't look at most of the other lab temps because they have an unspoken policy that they don't hire their own temps unless they have an advanced degree. (WTF is up with that, by the way. Stupid policy. But it works in my favor since I have a M.S.)

My new boss said he KNEW he had to hire me because he could tell I was very genuinely nice and pure of spirit and that never happens in this town.

INTERVIEW ON MONDAY!!!!!!!! With the company I've been assigned to (as a temp) for almost 2 years.

I've been trying to get hired here countless times and NEVER made to an actual interview. I'm shook because my interviews have not been very fruitful. I had stopped looking for ANY jobs the last few months because I have gotten so discouraged.

I found an awesome suit at the thrift store for a great price a couple of weeks ago.....am DEFINITELY putting into the dry cleaners ASAP!!! I wish I had somebody to practice interviewing with. Monday morning I'm going to chant "I is kind, I is smart, I is important" to myself in the mirror before I leave for work......

The person who brought that suit to the thrift store is now hugely, hugely successful and you are going to inherit all of the magic that suit brought her.

Can I be honest, it really was such a nice thing to hear, since I've been knocked-down so much in my jobs in the industry, and yet I still love it and want to be there. My mother (and I know we're not supposed to talk about my mother) will keep telling me that I need to change, that I shouldn't be in this world, they're eating me alive, etc. etc. etc...so to be told that my "purity" and goodness worked for me in this case really means a lot.

I didn't get the job.. I'm so confused. I thought I interviewed great, I thought it was a good fit, I have a recommendation from a fairly high up exec (and personal friend of the exec I interviewed with). Is it just because of the recruiter's fee?

I am not going to cry at my desk. NOT. GOING. TO. CRY.

I'm sure you DID interview great and that it WAS a good fit. These things make no sense. That's the only thing I've learned through all of this craziness. You can't analyze things or look too far into them.

Maybe they ended up not hiring anybody!

That is a likely possibility. Trbl sometimes it's not you. Maybe the org had someone in mind for the position but had to have interviews for legal reasons. You're job will come.

I got an onsite interview with a good company around here.

It's a fairly entry level position, so it's going to be me against a bunch of college kids, I have a feeling. Hopefully they think my experience and masters degree is worth something.

I lost a client because they wanted to "groom" someone cheap onsite. Now I'm having to create leads and try to reignite interest from past clients.

Depressing and discouraging.

^^ Claudine, you are so talented and special. No matter whom they are "grooming", it's their loss.

They will fail & come crawling back to you.. at which point you can raise your rates (okay maybe not, but I'd like to think it).

Aw, thanks, curly ladies.

My contact there left, and that's what started the downturn. I really liked her.

(((Hugs))) I know how working in a toxic environment can negatively affect a person's mental and physical health. Hopefully you will find something of comparable pay really soon that you like. I am sending good vibes your way.
