Which of us are job hunting?

Sounds like envy to me. My CL in German is what this woman means to be perfect. Completely professional, matter of fact and veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery dull. Really really dull. Due to my current job I had to read CLs of candidates who were rejected. They sounded all tsimiliar. All people were very professional and described the same range of tasks they were responsible for. If I were an employer, I had absolutely no clue how to choose someone and would probably just speak to 10 people, whose applications I got first. I'm pretty sure, some people do it actually this way.
Don't drive yourself into distraction because of the person, you don't even know. Why are you sure, her opinion is professional enough to judge your application?
Hang on, CIBC!

And even more. People won't definitely waste approximately an hour of their time interviewing you with the no other intent as to look at this weird girl who wrote this strange CL.

CIBC I say if it's working for you then keep doing it. Forgive me if I'm wrong but you were/still wanting to work in the entertainment business? If that's the case then I say you would have an awesome CL. If you have a very business type CL they may not even look at it. I wouldn't worry about that woman saying those things. You're getting interviews and with this economy it's hard to even het to that stage. Fingers crossed for you on Friday!!

Curlypearl I think the interviews went ok. The job I really want, I have a feeling I'm not going to get. But such as life. It would be stressful plus lots of learning. I'm not opposed to learning.....not a fan of the stress. There's a job in the paper I might go for. I had an interview a couple weeks ago, got a rejection letter.....it's for that same company. Why not, I have nothing to loose!!

Okay, I looked at her facebook...she has albums and albums of photos of things like "Michael Jackson's memorial."...as in, photos she took of her TV screen during the memorial.

And "George Clooney in the 80's."...with, like, photos of George in the Facts of Life and Roseanne (also photos she took from her TV screen.)

Um?
Just ignore it

Does anybody have any experience with having to extend their unemployment in NY?

I run out this week and I'm so confused. I'm hearing conflicting things everywhere. I collected 26 weeks but I think I'm entitled to at least 13 more weeks...I can't get anybody on the phone

Does anybody know anything? Thanks...
Good luck, everyone interviewing!

Both my interviews yesterday were a little strange.

The first was for a big children's theatre in the city.

This guy had no personality (he does children's theatre for lord's sake!) and I was trying so hard to make him laugh. I told him my little niece loved one of their biggest shows.

Him: Why?

Me: ...because...it's bright...and fun...(and she was THREE.)

HIm: I hate that show. I have no idea why it does so well.

Um? (Well, you are a middle aged man. If you loved the show, I'd be a little confused.)

The second one... The guy had an 8 by 10 photo of himself with Brooke Shields in the 80's on his desk.

He was SO proud of it and wanted to talk all about it. (?????)

He's telling me the story about the day it was taken, in 1980 and "Albert was there." He kept going on and on about Albert. I had NO IDEA who Albert was and figured it was another guy from the office. Then he went, "Albert got married, did you see that?" And I'm like, "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! PRINCE ALBERT."

It was SO RANDOM and SO STRANGE.

I wanted to make it clear that I did indeed know who Prince Albert was, so I said, "Ohhh, 1980...so that wasn't long before his mom died, I guess!"

He told me to take his card and think long and hard about if I want to move to the next level.
Two things happened that cheered me up!

A girl who starred in a play I wrote last year (basically playing a character who was "me" and I ended-up feeling like we'd been friends for years) emailed me an email from a friend of hers I have only met twice (when she came to see our show...we're not even Facebook friends or anything!) The subject line was "this sounds like a good job for CIBC!"

My friend wrote:

Even Maureen is searching for jobs for you! You have a lot of people on your team (of course most of us are pretty powerless but we make up for it with love and enthusiasm, I hope).

Made me smile!

And then last night I was coming home on the train (I had two interviews and then saw a show) and this train conductor I have always liked (haha) saw me and goes, "I thought you retired or ran-off to Paris with some guy! I haven't seen you in so long!"

I told him about how I've been unemployed and he was SO nice and sympathetic and understanding! And it made me smile to know random people notice when I'm not around!!!!
